Mike is a salesman (think used cars) and a great pool designer (best design of the 6 we received). He subcontracted our deck and that is the object of our problems (see review for ultra concrete) the deck drains toward the house in the front and holds water in the back. It took almost 2 years (deck became a problem within weeks) to get him to come and discuss the situation. At which time the response was "the deck was perfect at completion" and "he can't control Mother Nature" ... Mistakes were made in the installation of the deck and the deck company put on several band aids to drag it out past a year, and the final solution was to offer to let me pay cost to replace it (almost $7,000)... So I can finally have the deck I originally paid for! He takes no responsibility and tried to put everything on the deck company (his subcontractor) and then finally just refused to help

We had a pleasant first meeting and I told him I'd get back to him after a trip. I followed up and he said the design was not quite done. I followed up again and again. Communication broke down and he told me that he was unable to build my pool as he was too busy and had too much work. He did offer to put me on a waiting list for the Spring. The only issue with that is without a design and a budget I could not consider if he was the builder I wanted to work with. I found several other pool companies to work with that had the bandwidth to submit designs and bids.

The owner, Mike showed up at our scheduled appointment, walked the yard, and came into the house to discuss possible designs. My wife and I shared our ideas, as well as multiple concerns and problems that we'd seen our friends experience with their recent custom pool installation, and wanted to avoid. He wouldn't discuss pricing, budgets, or timing -- even in ranges -- claiming he needed "freedom to design a one-of-a-kind yard". He then left to take more pictures, and said he'd call us in a few days. After a week of hearing nothing, I called and was told the plans were half done, and would be ready the following Monday. Another five days went by with no follow up or plans. I finally got a call to tell us that he was in fact the builder of the pool our friends had so much trouble with. With such poor responsiveness, being deceitful and unwilling to be open and candid about a bad experience by our friends up front, and basically wasting two weeks of our time and his, I let him know we were not interested in using his services. Avoid!
