Happy Tubs

On May 31, 2022, (my Mothers 76th birthday) Dan from Happy Tubs in Frisco, Texas came out to my Mothers house in Italy, Texas to inspect her jacuzzi bathtub and try to figure out the reason that it was no longer working. She paid Happy Tubs $229 for the home visit. She was home alone, and unafraid being a retired DPD Detective. When Dan arrived, he proceeded to dismantle the jacuzzi tub and finally found the motor. He then proceeded to tell my Mother that the pump and motor was inoperable due to its age. He then said that the pump needed to be replaced and that the cost was $1299. My mother has a home warranty with Old Republic, so she called them to get approval for the job to be done. After over an hour of back and forth conversation with Old Republic, the price jumped to $2400. Old republic then refused to pay the increased amount but agreed to pay the initial $1299 that Dan had quoted prior to the conversation with his main office. Happy Tubs main office then refused to accept the initially quoted amount. All parties hung up the phone and Dan began to pack his tools and leave. He graciously re-caulked the tub surroundings. I spoke to my Mother later that day as we all took her to dinner for her birthday. She explained everything and said that she would call Old Republic on another day to re-address the work that needed to be done.Since then, my Mother has attempted to contact Old Republic 5-6 times and eventually just hangs up after being on hold for over an hour. As this review is NOT about Old Republic, I will move on to the substandard work and evaluation from Happy Tubs. Today, June 15,2022, my 2 minor children and I went to my Mothers house for a visit. When we arrived, I asked her about her jacuzzi tub and she expressed that she did not want to talk about it. I then told her that I would take a look. She attempted to dissuade me but I persisted (I am a retired US Marine) and began to take off the top piece of the tub that housed the pump. The first thing that I noticed was that the nuts that held the pump in place were not put back on the bolts. (Great Job Dan!) I then noticed that the pump was unplugged. (Great Job Dan!) I then noticed that the air tube that connects the air switch to the pump was disconnected also. (Great Job Dan!) You see, on this particular pump the on/off switch is activated by just a puff of air from the push button. I then plugged in the pump and told my son to turn on the breaker. THE PUMP CAME ON! We then started to scratch our heads and began to fill the tub with water. The pump and jets were working fine. I then simply attached the air hose from the on/off switch to the nipple on the pump and then pressed the switch. IT TURNED OFF. Hmmmm! Wow! We were all in disbelief. We tested it a few times and it turned on and off just fine. After further inspection, I realized that the rubber hose had just worked itself off from the nipple on the pump after 24 years. I snipped off the expanded end and ensured that it was back on the nipple and snug…..All was well and working fine!!! So Dan, the pump did NOT need to be replaced. Nothing needed to be replaced. The only thing that needed to be done was to reattach the hose to the nipple on the pump. I then put the nuts back on the bolts and re-attached the cover with white caulk. And by the way Dan, my caulking job is much better than yours was. That’s the story and that’s the truth! Happy Tubs, shame on you and your employee for trying to take advantage of a widowed senior citizen who simply wanted to continue to use her jacuzzi tub!!! If anything needs to be replaced, it is your employee, Dan!

Update: Upon review, Happy Tubs was quick to refund our money since no service was performed and are helping us locate jet covers. They were apologetic and very understanding once the situation was explained. We have no bad vibes now the the situation resolved so quickly.

What Great Service! Arnold Mezini (Owner, Happy Tubs, 500 E. Arapaho Rd, # 305, Richardson, TX, 75081, 469-844-5292, arnold@happytubs.com ) performed a miracle for us. We had a steel bath tub that had rusted out at the drain and along one side wall. He returned our initial phone call promptly and we discussed the problems. We had sent him pictures and he said he could fix them and gave us a quote (much lower than replacing the whole tub). He arrived at the time scheduled and performed his magic. He spent 4 hours on the tedious project and the finished work demonstrated his artistry skills as well as his technical ability. The work actually involved more than the estimate, but be honored the quote. It now looks like new. Arnold was everything one could ask for in a servicer. He was professional, polite (took his shoes off upon entering the house), friendly and very courteous. He cleaned up everything and provided a written guarantee. Even if others say they can't do the job or try to sell you a new tub instead of repairing yours, call Arnold at Happy Tubs.... chances are he can work his magic for you as well!
