The tech was a little later arriving than I expected, but he was very professional and took his time to do a great job. The new heater is working so much better than the old one; it's faster, quieter, and best of all: it just works!
Description of Work: After fighting constantly for over two years with my 13-year-old dinosaur of a pool heater, I finally decided to rip off the bandaid and purchase a new one. I had a specific brand and model in mind, and Brian initially only quoted his normally used residential heater, but after understanding my reasoning for the specific brand and commercial model, he did agree to quote and install that one.

His weekly service pricing is average and so is his weekly service (at best) UNTIL you have an issue then it's well below average. And his fees to do routine maintenance are higher than normal and he regularly recommended work that I didn't need - it was a good thing I know a thing or two about pools or he really could have taken me to the cleaners. Don't be fooled and don't waste you time with Brian - you will end up firing him at some point so you may as well find someone else now.
Description of Work: After Brian's company bought our old pool service company, he has been VERY vocal about my old monthly rate "doesn't allow him to make money." Although we were saving $40 a month because of that low rate ($120 vs $160), we finally had to fire him because his team just does a consistently horrible job. We have routinely had to scrub the pool after his team did it. Brian says it's not his fault because we have a "hard pool to clean"! But other pool service companies have done a great job for 8 years with no problems so that's more of an excuse than a reason! Bottom line: His company is either horrible at what they do OR he deliberately did a horrible job so he could free up our time slot for more money. Either way - I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you stay away from Brian unless you want to inferior service and to be overcharged for unneeded repairs and service.

First, let me be clear. We fired this customer and this customer did not fire our company! The customer is unfortunately lying. This customer was personal friends with the people who used to clean their pool and therefore received a below market value monthly rate for pool cleaning! Our company purchased a group of pool customers from their previous pool company in November 2015. Our company has been cleaning this oversized, deep pool with many trees and foliage for a year and a half without making any profit! Normally a pool this size and difficulty would cost a customer at least $160 or $170 plus tax a per month. Before we decided to drop these customers, my technician weekly spent over 2 hours cleaning this pool. In addition, these customers refused to let our company or any other company repair critical items of disrepair making it very difficult to maintain this pool. When we contacted the customer to explain, the customer became very irate with us. At that point we decided that it was time to cut ties. This customer was unappreciative of having an incredible price for weekly pool service and made it very difficult to be their service provider! However, we wish them nothing but the best as they seek for a new pool service.

Executive Blue Pools did an outstanding job. Brian, the owner, is a pleasure to work with. Always available. Thoroughly explained what needed to be done and what each component would cost. We had two surprises, a couple of cracks in the plaster were much deeper than expected and the plaster was not properly installed the previous time. Brian and his team explained what needed to be done and worked with us on the cost. Joe, the construction supervisor, was great. He answered all of questions easily to our satisfaction. We could not ask for a better team to work with. We worked with Joe to pick out new coping (travertine) and tile. We also changed the plaster from white to blue quartz. We installed all new equipment, new pool lights. The pool looks great!! We could not be more pleased. Great job, Brian, Joe, David and their teams!
Description of Work: We completely renovated our pool and replaced all the equipment. Our pool equipment was failing - 25 years old. The coping had some cracks, chips. A couple of tiles were loose around the spa.

I have tried several pool service companies and it was obvious from the initial consultation and service that Executive Blue Pools was a notch above the competition. Brian was very thorough in explaining the services and was prompt with his followup. The most impressive part was that Luke our actual service technician thoroughly cleaned our pool and analyzed our pool water unlike all of the other services, who would spend 5 minutes and rush off. We can finally enjoy our pool again! Thanks Brian!!

I bought a house with a pool in March and didn't know how to clean/maintain it. I also wasn't living in the house for a few months and hired Executive Blue Pools in April to get rid of some algae that turned the water green and then do a weekly cleaning until I moved in in late June. I decided to go with them based on their good Angie's list reviews, a decision I deeply regret. They first charged me $612.91 for an algae cleanup and to replace 2 of the pool filter cartridges that were broken. They didn't seem to know why the cartridges broke (cartridges should never break) and decided to just replace them. They then charged $162.38 per month for weekly service. Over the next few weeks, they told me that the algae would come and go and they had to keep cleaning the algae out. They blamed me for not setting the pool filter to run long enough even though they programmed the filter on/off times while I was there in May. The owner of the company, Brian Bellflower, was extremely rude every time I talked to him while discussing the algae problem. Talking to him was like being yelled at by an angry parent disciplining their child. I don't think I've ever dealt with a company who's owner was so condescending and rude to me. Keep in mind that I was a customer and paying them hundreds of dollars to take care of my pool. When I finally moved into the house in June, I noticed that the pool was extremely dirty. I didn't understand what I was paying them for. One of their employees came on Wednesday to clean the pool. I asked him why the pool is so dirty and he said that the pool is always very dirty and he could not explain where the dirt was coming from since there is no dirt near the outside of the pool. He cleaned it completely and then on Thursday it was extremely dirty again. On the advice of the pool store near my house (Leslie Pool Supplies), I opened up the filter and found that 2 of the cartridges were broken again. I brought the broken cartridges to a pool store and asked what would cause this and the sales person there told me to see if the filter is plumbed backwards. I checked and sure enough, the filter was plumbed backwards. I have no idea how it got to be backwards, whether the previous owner put it in backwards and never noticed for the entire time he owned the pool, or if Executive Blue Pools put it in backwards while replacing the cartridges on April. I had to again pay to replace the cartridges, which are not cheap. I called Brian and confronted him on the issue. Brian's response was to throw a child-like tantrum. His behavior on this call exceeded his usual belligerence. After this, I decided to cancel the cleaning service, since not only did I not need someone to take care of the pool anymore, and not only were they doing a very poor job of it, but I hated dealing with the owner Brian and his intolerable attitude problem. Since I prepaid for July shortly before cancelling, I decided to allow them to continue cleaning the pool in July. After swimming in the pool in July (which was now crystal clear from the filter being plumbed correctly), I began to notice problems. My daughter would complain that her skin was burning. After being in the pool for any amount of time, my skin would start to itch and burn and I started getting strange sores on my skin. I decided to buy a test-kit and test the water myself to see if the pool had correct chemical levels. The very first thing I noticed was that the chlorine levels were through the roof. Not only were the chlorine levels 3 times what they should be, but every time they came to clean the pool, they kept adding more and more chlorine! At this point, I removed their floating chlorinator from my pool and turned off the inline chlorinator. Since chlorine is broken down by UV radiation from the sun, all of the chlorine in the pool should have been burned up in 2 days. After 5 days, the chlorine level didn't drop at all. I did some research on the Internet to find out what would cause chlorine levels to remain high, which led me to learn about cyanuric acid (CYA), and I then tested the level of CYA. CYA is a "stabilizer" that protects chlorine from UV radiation but it also reduces the sanitizing effect of chlorine. If too much stabilizer is used, then the chlorine won't work at all. The recommended amount of CYA in an outdoor pool is 30-70ppm. Anything above 100 is considered unacceptable. The level in my pool was around 300ppm. I ran the test twice and even brought a sample of pool water to the pool store to confirm my result. I again confronted Brian and he insisted that he did not add any CYA to the pool and blamed the problem on both me and the former owner. I took pictures of their box of chlorine that they put in my pool and it does indeed contain CYA. It cost me over $500 to drain the pool completely and refill it with new water to get rid of the CYA. These guys have no idea what they're doing and put my family's health at risk. *** Response to Brian Bellflower’s Comments *** 1) During the 1 hour pool school (not 2 hours), they told me to run the filter for 10 hours per day. There was no mention about running it in the summer for 12 hours per day. 2) I did not constantly call their office to check on my pool. They were supposed to clean my pool once per week and send me an updates on the condition of the pool when it was being treated for algae. They did not send me updates during several cleanings and on those weeks, I called to ask for an update. The idea that they were ever patient with me is ridiculous. 3) It’s true, I did neglect the pool – by hiring the worst pool company to service it and put my trust in a company who has no idea what they’re doing. 4) I never told them that someone would be available to change the settings, and there was never any reason to change the settings. The filter didn’t work because it was plumbed backwards, and executive blue pools never noticed or bothered to check on why the filter wasn’t working. Whether it was turned off or running 24 hours a day would have made no difference. 5) I never made any statements about the previous pool owner. I met the previous owner one time and we never discussed the care/maintenance of the pool. Executive blue pools wants to blame everyone else for their incompetence. 6) The pool filter doesn’t have a backwash valve. It has a Jandy CV460 Cartridge filter (look up the model number if you don’t believe me). I have pictures for anyone who wants it. I noticed that the filter was plumbed backwards after living in the house for 2 days and fixed it myself. Executive blue pools never noticed it was backwards after servicing my pool for months and certainly didn’t fix it for me. 7) I did not allow the cyanuric acid levels to become high. The levels became high because executive blue pools was adding it to the pool without even knowing it. I have pictures to prove it. When I confronted them about it, they didn’t even know what cyanuric acid was and said they didn’t know how it got in the pool. Only after I took a picture of their own pool chemicals in their company vehicle and sent it to the owner did they admit they admit they were putting it in my pool, but accepted no responsibility for the disaster it caused. 8) Executive never once asked me to drain the pool. The only discussion we had about draining the pool was after I hired another pool company to do it for me because they ruined my water. The owner did not know what cyanuric acid is or that they were adding it to my pool until I sent them pictures proving it. 9) Again, I have a Jandy CV460 cartridge filter. Brian Bellflower is either confusing me with another customer or lying to cover up his own negligence.

We are a high integrity, competent company who enjoys great new customers from angieslist.com. As a result, I am compelled to set the record straight about this review! Please read to the end. Unfortunately this review of our company is full of either lies or ignorant mistruths! This customer purchased a home in Texas in the Spring but was living at the time in Virginia. He called us to take care of the pool. We did an initial clean up, monthly service, and a two-hour pool school. During the pool school, we fully explained how to take care of the pool including when the pool should run based on changing seasons (i.e., spring setting are 6-8 hours a day and summer settings are 12 hours per day). We went above and beyond to educate and patiently interact with this customer who constantly called our office to check on the pool. Our interactions could not have heen more kind and professional. In our estimation, the customer neglected his own pool. He was living in Virginia after purchasing the pool. When we agreed to take on this pool, the customer informed us that a realtor or friend would be available to change settings on the pool in the house that were inaccessible to our technicians outside at the equipment. The truth was that he had NO ONE to change settings inside the home! As spring turned into summer the pool was running for approximately six hours a day when it should have been running at twelve hours per day during daylight hours. We repeatedly asked the homeowner to change these settings. The settings NEVER got changed. He finally acknowledged that the truth was that he had NO ONE locally to take care of the pool. This was despite his initial agreement to have someone available! We diligently attempted to keep the pool chemically balanced and keep algae from forming which was incredibly difficult to do!!! In addition, the customer acknowledged on multiple occasions that the previous homeowner had no clue about the pool. The previous homeowner, without our knowledge, had the backwash valve plumbed backward! We came to his home, free of charge, to replumb the backwash valve for him! Also he allowed the cyanuric acid levels to be incredibly high in the pool. We repeatedly asked the homeowner to drain the pool and restart the pool water. He refused. The customer knew about ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS and admitted they were never our fault. In our opinion, now he is trying to blame us for his negligence and the negligence of the previous homeowner! Not cool! P.S. And by the way—the customer has a DE filter not a cartridge filter! He does not even know the type of filter he has based on his review. You don’t change cartridges but filter grids on his type of filter. And yes when you cycle debris and algae through a DE filter during a huge clean up of a pool, the grids break requiring them to be replaced. Again this is another example from his untrue review of our company that demonstrates the ignorance of this customer about pools!!!

Monday, June 20 called and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday Brian ( the owner ), scheduled us later in the evening. We waited. No show. Called Brian and rescheduled for Wednesday. His technician was here promptly the following morning. Showed me how to work our pool timer while providing suggestions for salt cell replacement. Downgrading from a T-15, to a T-9 and offered valid reseasons, so with out researcing I agreed. Shortly after Kelsey left Brian called for our credit card number and promptly charged his quote of $694 for the T-9 and service fees. But as we researched more on as to why the previous owner would have gone with the T-15 we quickly found out that the one we have is more cost effective by not running as hard and would last longer. Brians quote came in approx $1000 for a T-15 Hayward salt cell replacement. We simply felt like that was too much and after a previous conversation between my husband and Brian made a decision based on our new knowledge to go another route. When I called Brian back to let him know, I was yelled at and told we wasted his time and was seriously and rediculously chewed out like an angry child. Then he asked why did we did we decide not to go with him immediatly after his rant.... I just responded with "because of what you just said". I had to repeat it. But I hope he got it. Anyway....we agreed to pay a $99 trip charge as we felt that was fair. Kelsey our technician was awesome and I highly recommend this young technician. If you decide to use this company ask for him! :) However, I can not recommend Brian from our dealings with him today. Maybe down the road as he becomes more people friendly you'll find him much less angry. People/customers change their minds in business every single day. And you know what? It's OK. It really is. Using a "coping with change skillset " would have been much more effective today and I wouldn't have to write this flavor of a review. It is what it is.

We are an honest, upstanding company that always tries to do the right thing for customers. Therefore, I need to set the record straight about this customer. Unfortunately this customer is not telling the entire truth about what happened. On the intial phone call with [Member Name Removed], she explained that she was a new pool owner. I explained that we offer a $99 Pool School in which we take 30-120 minutes to show new pool owners everything bout their pool. She declined to do our Pool School. However when my technician went to her home to do an [Member Information Removed] for the new salt cell, she peppered him with questions about her equipment for at least 45 minutes. So she wanted the Pool School but did not want to pay for it!!!! That’s the truth! Also in her review she neglected to mention that she and her husband canceled their order 15 minutes before we were [Member Information Removed] a new salt cell at their home! She approved replacement of the current salt cell. Our common practice is to charge brand new customers with no prior history the total amount BEFORE we install the equipment. We charged her credit card. We ordered the new salt cell. On the morning of the salt cell [Member Information Removed] while my technician was in route to her house to install the salt cell, [Member Name Removed] called me to cancel the order! Please note- we had thorough pros-cons discussion about a T-9 or T-14 salt cell before they approved the salt cell [Member Information Removed]. In the phone call she indicated that again they changed their mind. They expected to get a free Pool School and wanted me to eat the time, effort, and expertise spent on them! And by the way, I never gave them an [Member Information Removed] for a T-14 salt cell! So they agreed that they would pay a $99 service call fee to basicly cover my technician’s time and energy on giving them a Pool School. In my opinion, this is a customer trying to get something for nothing. Also, this customer wanted my company to take the hit for their family indecision about which salt cell to choose! Beware of this customer!

I used the service from May 2015 to end of March 2016. Executive Blue technicians were always polite and punctual and did a great job. They kept the pool water in immaculate condition. I also used them for semi-annual cleaning of the main filter and they did a very thorough and professional job.
Description of Work: Provide weekly pool service for in-ground pool. Did not include netting the pool surface and cleaning the bottom of the pool.
