CUSTOM STONE SUPPLY

Description of Work: This company sells stone to the public as well as contractors. My problem with this company has to do with being overcharged which I didn't realize until after the purchase. The process for picking up the stone and being charged is 1) you drive your vehicle on their scales prior to loading any material and they record the weight, 2) you load the stone or rock into your vehicle (if you're lucky one of the yardmen will help), 3) one of the yardmen must write up a ticket with the material #, 4) you drive your vehicle on the scales again and they record the loaded weight, and 5) you go inside to get the bill and pay. I made 4 separate purchases from the company and the first 2 times, the cost didn't surprise me. The 3rd time it seemed high but I didn't stop to check it. The 4th time also seemed high, especially when I got home and unloaded. I realized that it couldn't possibly be the 480 lbs. they charged me for. So I got out my bathroom scales and weighed the largest piece of flagstone. It was less than 10 lbs and I had purchased 16 pieces, most of which were far smaller. It's clear to me that their scales were off (or they inflated the weight) by at least 3 times what it was, and more likely 4-5 times. At that point, I would have been unable to prove it since I'd already driven it home and unloaded it so I didn't go back to dispute it, but I won't return. I now have a better idea how much flagstone weighs and will watch this more carefully when I purchase from other stone supply companies.
