Abel Appliance Repair

The compressor on my 5-year-old LG refrigerator originally went out in August 2015. I called an appliance repair company listed on Angie's List. Their technician installed a hard start relay which started the compressor. All was fine until Jan 2, 2016 when the compressor went out again. After calling the repair company who installed the hard start relay, I was told via phone that it wouldn't be worth repairing given the cost to replace the compressor. The cost for a new refrigerator was about $1300. I mentioned the problem to a co-worker who recommended I call Abel Appliance. Larry came out and installed a new compressor for less than the other company had quoted. However, the compressor would not turn on so he checked the relay board and found that it had burned out, which was caused by the 1/2 HP hard start relay that the other company had installed. He explained and showed me that 1/2 HP was too much for a residential refrigerator. He ordered a new relay board and came back a few days later to install it. The fridge is now cooling. Larry's many years of experience and knowledge have made me a customer for life. He was professional, came back when he said he would, and his pricing was very reasonable. I would highly recommend Abel Appliance Repair to anyone.

Excellent- Larry went above and beyond in fixing our fridge. Right before we were supposed to host a family party, the fridge began to fail (not cold enough) and Larry initially attempted to address the issue with a less expensive repair. When that did not work, he provided us with dry ice to put in our fridge for the party and then did the final repair after our guests had left. He also followed up with a subsequent visit to 'tweak' the compressor (and fix our non-functioning ice maker as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience of multiple visits) and ensure its proper functioning. He also did a good job of providing education on how to properly maintain the refrigerator. In sum, we highly recommend the company and we will use then again in the future when needed.

The refrig/freezer was making a lot of noise like a fan bearing was going bad. Called Abel and they came out the next day. They not only fixed the problem but gave me great information on what to do if the problem returns. Great service, quality technician, great price! Would not only use them again but will recommend to family and friends.

Great! After being left in a lurch by another appliance repair company who charged me $100 for a service call where they did nothing but vacuum the coils and make promises. I called Abel on a Friday night. They answered the phone and set a time for 9:30 on Saturday morning (the other appliance repair was closed for the weekend). Larry from Abel showed up on time and got the repair done right the first time! On top of providing better service on the weekend, their repair cost was half of what was quoted by the other repair company and followed up with a thank you email.

They did a great job. He was prompt and very upfront how much it would be. He was very professional. The price was reasonable.

Our refrigerator began leaking the morning of the 19th. When I called to schedule an appointment I spoke with Jordan. He said he would be able to come by toward the end of the day (I got the impression he was fitting me in to the schedule). He arrived at about 6 pm and spent a good deal of time troubleshooting the problem as it wasn't easily identifiable. I appreciated his work ethic and determination to find the problem even though I imagine that he would have preferred to have been finished for the day! He did find the problem, fixed it and was headed home by 8 pm. Very pleased with Jordan and Abel Appliance!

He said that my refrigerator wasn't worth fixing so I ended up getting a new one. He did fix my oven though. It went good. He came out right away, they were here within a couple of hours.

Woke up to a freezer not working properly. Mistakenly called two other service providers before checking Angie's list. One company had poor customer service and the other couldn't fit me in for 2 weeks. Saw the awesome reviews for Abel Appliance and called them around 9:30am. Jordan took my call and said he'd get me in as soon as possible knowing it was important to me that it was fixed the same day if possible. He arrived around noon and my freezer was up and running by one!!! So grateful!

I did use someone for appliance repair for garbage disposal but I wasn't there. I think that was Abel Appliance Repair. They were timely. I wish I didn't have to pay 50 dollars to push a button but you don't know that until after that, otherwise they were good. They came out in a timely fashion, were able to get it down and they did lower the price once they knew it was a button because otherwise it was like 150 dollars.

Larry took the time to answer a question for me rather than charge me for a service call on a holiday period. Larry told me step by step how to fix the problem myself saving me critical time when family is driving in for Christmas. I am a small business owner myself and can't thank Larry enough for his selfless efforts to alleviate a serious problem, at absolutely no profit for him!

I was in the process of getting my Dad's home ready for sale. As you can see this repair was done in 2012, but I do remember that Larry was very prompt in arriving to repair the ice maker. Sub Zeros were his specialty. He had a pleasant attitude and was thorough in his work. I remember being pleased that he had come and completed the job in a timely manner. The ice maker performed flawlessly through the end of 2013 when the home was sold.

Larry came out right away and took care of our fridge acting on the fritz. He didn't waste any time and was done in short order. I appreciate how he provided advice on replacing appliances and the options to consider that provide the best bang for the buck and which are easy to service. Will definitely use again.

Larry the owner of Abel Appliance Repair, called me back only 30 min. after my call. It was 2pm on a busy Friday afternoon, and he was not sure he would be able to get to our problem that day. He agreed to call me back no later than 6 pm and let me know. Larry called about 5 pm and advised he could make it to our house about 7 pm, but cautioned me that all the parts supply stores were closed, so he might not be able to complete the repairs until the next day. Larry arrived at 7 pm, and within 15 minutes had diagnosed the problem, and found he had the unusual part we needed on his truck. So in less than 45 minutes after arriving, Larry had determined the problem and repaired it. I was really impressed. First, because it was late Friday evening, and Larry gave up a big part of his evening to help us avoid going through the weekend without a refrigerator, and second, he didn't waste time guessing where the problem was, and replacing working parts needlessly. He knows his business, is very professional, and his charges are very reasonable. In the future, when I need appliance repair I'll call Abel Appliance for help. I highly recommend Abel.

I appreciated Arnie's honesty of telling me what the probable cause of the problem was without having to make a trip or see the machine in action. I decided to do some online digging of the problem and it looked like I could actually fix the problem myself if I could get the parts. I was able to order the parts online ($70 total, including shipping). The parts arrived on Tuesday and within 20 minutes, I have the rods replaced and the washer is working fine again. I was very glad that Arnie gave me the quick diagnosis. If his quoted price hadn't been so high, I probably wouldn't have looked to do the job myself. I'm sure he knew that it would only be about a 30 minute job for him, so I think paying $180 for his time and drive out was a bit out of line. I will probably use Abel in the future when needed because of the honest factor. I'm sure I won't be able to fix every major appliance problem that I have.

They were very good. They were dependable, on time, professional, and their prices were within the range.

Showed up on time and did excellent work. He did not try to sell me something I did not need. The cost was less than I expected which is always a nice surprise.

Larry came out on the same day we called. I was not home but he showed my wife where the problem was and how to fix it if it happened again. He could have easily just talked us into replacing parts but was honest and told us if in the future if the problem recurred and the part needed to be replaced he would not charge another service call fee. Definitely will use again.

Larry was very punctual, friendly and did the work needed in a short time frame. It's great to meet somebody so professional and to not just find a great repairman, but a solid gentleman also!

Larry came out, quickly diagnosed the problem, and added refrigerant. We had him come out again a few days later because we realized the light wasn't turning off when the door shut. He again fixed the issue in no time at all and already had the part needed to fix it. Larry is awesome!

At about 5 PM on 8/7/2014 I noticed that the food in my freezer was getting soft and the ice maker had stopped making ice. The side of the refrigerator was very hot. I thought how am I going to find someone on a Friday evening at 5:30 PM to come even to look at it let alone fix it. I got on Angie's List look for a repair shop. The first one I looked at closed at 5 PM. The second on was Abel Appliance Repair and they were open until 6 PM. I called the number and Larry answered the call, he was on a service call and said he would get back to me. At around 6:30 Larry call me back and I explained what was going on with the refrigerator and he asked where I live and I told him. He said he would be here in 10 minutes. He arrived and found that the problem was the motor that runs a fan to keep the parts cool was not working. He changed the motor out and put everything back, cleaned up and was done in about 30 minutes. I'm thankful that Larry was willing to work late and solve my problem. He has my highest recommendation!!

We contacted Larry Garner, of Abel Appliance Repair, for a second opinion on our Maytag Washer because he was so highly rated on Angie's List. We had been advised by another service to replace the 4-year old washer rather than repair it. Larry quickly diagnosed the problem. The washer is now up and running like new.
