It didn't. He never called back after I left several messages. I had to call a Dallas Company.
Description of Work: He sold me a new US International Gate Opener in 2021. It stopped working and I started trying to reach the Gate Doctor. He never called back. After a few days I called another company and found out these are problematic Gate Openers. Now in 2021, 18 months later I am buying a new Gate Opener. This guy doesn't get it when it comes to customer service. Beware of him!

Initially, Mike (owner) was very prompt when I called him and even went to look at my non-functioning gate before I could get home. I had left the gate open so he could have access. He did an assessment and proceeded to tell me (I'm a female senior citizen) that our gate opener was from 1993 and we were lucky to have had it as long as we did. I was told we needed a whole new opener as replacing one relay (electrician had told me that was the only problem) would not guarantee that another one would not go out next as there supposedly were 7 relays in all in our old unit. I asked him to give me an idea of what a similar replacement (not and quot;commercialand quot;) would run us. Mike told me about $2300. I asked if that was his best price. He said and quot;yesand quot;...did not offer me an Angie's list discount or senior discount... This was on a Tuesday and he said he could install on Thursday of that week. I, unfortunately, gave him the ok without checking his rating on Angie's list or with the BBB. I have done that now and discovered that he is not registered with the Better Business Bureau at all! He was to arrive on Friday at 9:30 and didn't show up till noon without calling to let me know he would be late He had an associate with him. They were dressed in blue jeans and tee shirts..no logos on shirts, etc. The work was completed and the area cleaned up. Upon completion of the installation of the new equipment I went to inspect it and asked about the manual override in case of a power outage. Mike showed me how to open the equipment to pull a handle that released the mechanism inside the gate/property. I mentioned that our old system had a pin in the arm of the unit that we could easily pull from inside or outside of the property. He told me that this unit did not have that feature...but that I had a choice to either install an extra keypad next to our main keypad with a key lock strictly for the fire department (cost about $299). Second choice would be a red padlock on the swing arm itself (very visible) only accessable by the fire department (cost about $229). Mike said he would check with the city of Southlake to find out what code was and would come back on Monday to let me know. He also promised to check my exit gate free of charge to make sure that one was working properly. Monday came and went and Mike never showed up. I started calling him midday and continued to call and leave messages every day for 2 weeks with no response! I then called from several different phone numbers leaving him messages each time asking him to have the professional courtesy to at least return my calls. Nothing. Then our gate stopped working altogether. Mike had written a 2 year labor warranty on his receipt. I called again and left him a reminder message about his warranty promise. He returned my call and came over to inspect why the gate was not working. He explained that it was his mistake...he had forgotten to turn some switch back on!! The gate worked after that. I reminded him about what he said he would do in regards to checking on city code for fire department acess and he again told me he would get back to me. That was in April and this is October and I still have not heard back from him! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE GATE DOCTOR!!!! I GIVE THEM A and quot;Dand quot; RATING!

I have a long driveway gate that was installed at the time we had a new fence put in mid 2004. When I asked the installer what I should do if it had problems with the motor, he said, and quot;Don't worry, you won't have any problems. This Elite motor is the best.and quot; When I persisted on what to do if problems, he said, and quot;Just call me and I will take care of it.and quot; Apparently these gate motors are quirky. I HAVE had problems with this freezing up, beginning less than a year after it was installed. It was almost impossible to get a hold of the installer. I would leave numerous messages over 2 - 3 weeks time with no reply. I had to use a very very long, tedious process of cranking this long gate and just leave it open, a violation of city law because I had a pool that had to be behind a fence. I called the Fence builder who used him, and the first couple of times he was eventually able to get a hold of him. Finally, there was an episode where the gate simply would not open, and neither he nor I were able to get the installer to answer so I gave up. When I tried to find someone to work on it, I found that not many people work on these, and Mike Fuller, the Gate Doctor was one of those few. Although he was very busy, he made time to get by and take care of the problem. I have used him 5 or 6 times from 2006 to present. He always either answers the call right away, or calls back very soon afterwards and makes every effort to be accommodating. He also does work on fences. I hired him to move a section of fence and gate, install a second to create a dog run, and some other additional work. There were some delays on this most recent project, related to weather, the manufacturer sending the wrong iron gate, and Mike just being busy. We are very happy with the final result, though, and will use him again if the need arises.

It went pretty good. I had the same guy both times and he worked fast and I was pleased with his work. He came out when he said he would.
Description of Work: They came out twice. I originally had them come out to repair some wrought iron gates. Then I had them come back to do some other work for me to fabricate and instal a latch or guide for a sliding wooden good and my neighbor wroght iron gates for.

It took several tries to get hold of this guy because he is BUSY! At one point, he was booked up for four months. But when I finally got him to my house, he did the job the next day and did it very well. All I needed was a gate and one post replaced. He listened to how I wanted it to look and asked questions so that he understood me. He was very prompt, worked by himself, cleaned up his mess and was gone. I personally don't see how he carried all that fencing and posts by himself. It was impressive. I would certainly recommend this small business to anyone.
Description of Work: One fence post replaced and cemented in place. A new gate built.

5/6/2012 Update: The gate worked for about 2 weeks, when it stopped working again. I called and sent an e-mail, he said he would be by to fix. Did not show up when he said he would, but did show up a few days later. Gate worked again for about 6 weeks, then stopped again. Cannot get response to multiple e-mails and voicemails. I contacted The Gate Doctor on the recommendation of a friend after we discovered the gate was not working at a pre-purchase housing inspection. I called and asked for an estimate, and he said he'd try to get over to the house that afternoon. I didn't hear back for a few days, so I contacted him again to see if he had a chance to go by the house. He said he had, and would e-mail a quote. That took a few more days, but the estimate was for less than half what the seller's contractor quoted. He called before coming over today, and when he arrived he said it would be about 1-2 hours. He worked quickly, and had the gate working in less than 2 hours. The previous owners did not leave their garage door openers or gate openers, so he got us one opener, and programmed the buttons in our mini-van. Great service!
Description of Work: Replaced motor in electric gate, tune up of gate.

I contactated Mr. Fuller after a referral. I was given an estimate on installing an electrical driveway gate operator. Mr. Fuller came by to inspect the area, gave detailed description of the work that needed to be done, and let me know the final cost of the work. A week later, my gate is fully automatic thanks to Mr. Fuller. I might add that I had been in contact with several companies over the past year, and none of them did a follow-up on the request for the installation of my gate.
Description of Work: I had an automatic opener (electric) installed on my driveway gate, which included trenching and laying of conduit for electricity, and installing switches for circuit breakers.
