Called Rick Friday because I was in over my head putting in baseboards in the bathroom. Rick said he would be by early on Saturday and was on time. He knocked it out in less than an hour including caulking. He is my go to guy for almost all handy work. He is awesome.

Mr. Armstrong was unprepared for this job that he bid on. He set the time he would show up each day and only made it within that hour time frame on day. On day one, he removed the double windows and was going to tarp them up until the next day - this was around 11a that morning. My husband who was home on vacation that week insisted he finish the door install, which my husband assisted with since Mr. Armstrong's crew member called in that day. However, Mr. Armstrong spent just as much time running to and from the store to rent and return tools that he did working at our home that first day. My husband ended up hanging the trim on the inside of the door as well. Day two- he hires a new assistant and after being at hour home, late again, he has to leave to go meet this new assistant and rent another tool. This takes an hour to an hour and a half, he returns, uses the tool and its time to break for lunch and return it - another hour/hour and a half. The lumber and concrete delivery arrives and my husband moves it all by himself to our backyard. After the holes are dug for the deck, only a few poles are set and half bag of unused concrete is left out in the weather overnight as well as a bunch of holes in our backyard of which we had to cover so our dogs would not hurt themselves. We had some bad weather roll in so there were understandably a few days in which no work could be done. So on his first day back after the weather, he helped himself to my husband's fire pit which resulted in the fire department being called out to make him extinguish the fire. Mr. Armstrong left the mess he created in the fire pit for us to clean up. The following day, he brought his own fire pit and when he finished working for the day, he left the fire burning unattended. The pergola is higher than we talked about and it swayed very easily after installation, the only reason he came back to fix it is because he left a tool here and wanted it back. The and quot;fixand quot; was unacceptable as well. The deck is square as we discussed however, the hand rail is not. Its visibly crooked and cuts off part of the corner of the deck. After all was said and done and the job was and quot;finishedand quot; Mr. Armstrong left ALL of his messes for us to clean up. All of the bricks that he removed from the windowsill to install the french doors were strewn about the yard. He didn't replace the vented bricks as he promised, there was as hole full of cigarette butts left by him and the fire pit he brought, he emptied all of the debris into my husbands fire pit for us to empty as well on top of his original mess. We also had to remove the half bag of concrete left out in the weather as well as the full contractor bag of trash he left in the yard. His tools were strewn all over our back yard during the time he was on the job. The board spacing for the pergola is also noticeably off even to my untrained eye. Its really ashame he was so unprepared for this job because we had alot of other projects to be done around our house but they will not be done by Mr. Armstrong. I am very disappointed he has an A rating on Angie's list, which is the main reason we chose him in the first place. Bottom line - he was not on time, he was unprepared to do this job and him leaving his mess for us to clean up was very unprofessional.

I am able to do some handy work, but I knew I was in over my head with a fixing some jamb rot on my door frame. I didn't want to replace the door frame so I let Rick take a look at it. He mentioned that he could fix it and I could do the sanding, caulking and painting to save some money (who does that? What a nice guy!) . It took him a few hours and he was done. He is very willing to work within your budget. In my case he let me finish what I could do to save on his time and effort. He looks professional and is very courteous. He got there exactly when he said he would arrive. knocked out the work quick. I will definitely use him again. BTW: he doesn't advertise that he has a listing here on Angie's list like some companies. If any body deserves an A+ rating it is Rick.

lMr. Armstrong came to give an estimate as arranged per our first phone call. He listened carefully to all of our request and concerns. He presented himself very professionally and extremly knowledgeable. The very next day he came with a written bid, all items itizmed and cost broken down. He evne included the time he estimated he would be working. We arranged a start date, he came on time that day, with a helper and all the materials. He always left everything very neatly and cleaned up each day before leaving. He was very attentative to detail and time. He nor the helper ever waisted one minute. There were no hidded charges and no extra charges. Every thing was very professional.

He's reliable, personable and works when you need him to. He doesn't charge an arm and a leg to do good work. He only takes cash/check, so I'd probably use him more often if I could use a credit card.
Description of Work: He installed my garage door motor.
