It took a few days to get someone out from Olivers. However, Benny was fantastic! He was extremely professional, engaged is in conversation, and had to repair done in no time. It helped that we were able to use the Angie's list coupon for the repair.
Description of Work: Our clothes dryer was making an awful racket and started to smell like something was burning. We were hesitant to call for repair, knowing it may be cheaper just to buy a new one.

Steve Coleman from Oliver Dyer's came out, figured out immediately that the door to my freezer compartment was not closing correctly, fixed the door, and removed the ice buildup inside the freezer. He also explained to me how to avoid this problem in the future. My refrigerator and freezer are now working perfectly. Thank you Oliver Dyer's Appliance and Steve Coleman!

Service tech David was punctual and professional and fixed the problem. The part required was rather expensive I thought, but I expected that with the usual dealer markup. What I did not expect was the $79.95 charge for the technician to show up and then an $82.50 labor charge for about 1/2 hour of work. It seems like the service call charge would be reduced when work is actually performed. I would probably hire again or recommend this company with a caution about price.

Steve came out within the time promised. He called first to tell me he was on his way. He was friendly and professional. He was able to diagnose and take care of the problem within about thirty minutes. The fee charged was reasonable, especially considering the timeliness of the service call. Provider may have spent all of two minutes looking at the dishwasher before telling me that I needed a new dishwasher or a new motor. He did show me why he thought I needed a new motor. Then he left. Not satisfied with his diagnosis, I disassembled and thoroughly cleaned it myself. Now it runs as good as new. Complete waste of money. This is the first time I've had to leave a less than stellar review for an Angie's list vendor.

The tech was only in our house for probably 10 minutes. He quickly got the dryer working and decided that it was shorting because of an electrical issue, and referred us to an electrician (who was excellent, by the way). I can't really speak to the quality of service because he didn't have to do much, but he was on-time, friendly and professional.

I contacted Oliver Dyer's Appliance repair on Monday and advised them of the situation and the employee advised they could not have anyone out till Wednesday, since they only have one repair man that works on the Samsung washing machines. That was fine with us. No hurry. The repairman showed up as scheduled on Wednesday. Here's where its get frustrating. My wife calls me and tells me it was $300 to fix the washer. After the shock, I asked her what was wrong with it. She advised the door lock had to be replaced. I'm thinking that seems very high for a door lock. There must have been a lot of labor. So I looked up the part online and there is was for $47.95 (they charged us $150). I then googled how to replace the lock. There on YouTube, a 2 1/2 minute clip showing a repairman replacing the lock. Extremely simple. I was shocked. This could not have taken him more than 5 minutes, if he was slow. I called my wife and asked her how long did it took for the repair. She stated it took him about 5 minutes. INCREDIBLE. $300 to install a $50 part in 5 minutes. Very disappointed that this company is gouging customers this way.

It is true that you may be able to get a part for less money on line, but that part, if available at those low prices, does not include a guarantee. When we sell a part to the customer it does include a 90 day guarantee. Also, if that part should fail, you would receive another one at no cost to you for replacement. That guarantee is included in the price which we charge our customers, which is competitive with other service companies around our area. Also, the service call of the $69.95 for your zip code area includes our coming to your home and diagnosing the problem. You are paying for our trip charge (gas, insurance on our vehicle and our tech's expertise in diagnosing the problem.) His labor charge again is for our tech's knowing what to do in a relative short period of time. Also, should you have that same problem in a 90 day period we would schedule a recall and not charge you for that trip charge to your home a 2nd time. I hope that this explains to you why from a customer's point of view the cost may seem excessive, but in realty is not. We do hope that we will be able to be of service to you again in either our service and sales areas.
