If I could leave them a 0 star I would. We ordered 3 doors on June 10 and it is now August 25th and tgey are finally delivered. However the rating is not based on the delivery but the fact theat they constantly lied about delivery, production, installation and delivered the wrong door in the first place with all three doors having no Jams. I was lied to by Charles, Mellissa, and Brad. Please find yourself a honest company that you can trust that you will get what you paid for.
The installers were prompt and professional. The sales men were knowledgable and communicated every step of the way. My costs were reasonable and comparable. There was one time my statement was incorrect but it was handled immediately.
Description of Work: Had many things needing to be done on my renovated house. Staff and service men were helpful and quick to get jobs done. Windows looked great. Sales team helped me pick out the correct products for my home to make it look updated even though an older remodeled home. The finished home was outstanding. I will purchase with them again.

They were prompt, reasonably priced and personable! I will use them for all my hardware needs!
Description of Work: I had someone coming into my home using a key (suspected maintenance man). I used Nix to come out and change my locks, they were quick, efficient and professional! I was so upset and the hardware manager made me a priority over her other stops! I was so thankful to be able to feel safe in my home again!

They quoted one of the flues to go out the side of house but missed a code that was clear on the plan. They then decided to install the metal flue pipe on the front of the roof next to the front door. Without my permission. The salesman apologized said it was his fault and said they would pay for the roof repair but then proceeded to send me a bill for the extra flue. When I complained to the owner she sent another bill DOUBLING the cost of the flue and deducting what she guessed the roof repair would be. In the end when one of my fireplaces was creating black soot and manufacture advised it should be looked at they refused to come out just a few months after installation and had to pay someone else who replaced a part. In the midst of this they expected full payment and threatened to stop my house closing by submitting a lien affidavit on my home. Infuriating experience.

They pushed me into paying extra to install it ( already pd framer to install doors)saying they would come back to adjust it after it settled but in the end flat out refused to stand behind their work. The door had a huge 1/4 gap that bugs came through and rattled when you touched it. Had to pay someone again to do the adjustments I paid them to do. Also made me pay to have the opening raised 2 inches because they said the door opening was not high enough but when they installed it the top header was 2 inches above the door. Duh. Worst of all they insisted I pay them in full before they completed the work and began paperwork for a Lien affidavit to stop the closing on my home. They were super rude and unpleasant to say the least. Wish I had read all the other bad online reviews of others first.

In November of 2013 we decided to replace the front door on our house, which was cracked and faded wood, so we visited the showrooms of a couple of door companies. Upon entering the showroom of Nix Door and Hardware, we were greeted by the sight of an enormous variety of door hardware, plus a gorgeous dark brown wrought iron door. After looking at all the other options, we concluded that this impressive model was the one to get. We also decided to have the entire entry redone with new brick and stone around the new door, including removing the sidelight and top windows. After getting approval from our homeowners' association, we ordered the door at the end of February 2014. We were told it would take eight weeks for the door to be made. Our sales guy did not keep us up-to-date on how things were going, so I had to keep sending him emails to inquire. On April 29 I finally found out that the door had been delivered to Nix Door's location, but they still had to install the glass. After not hearing anything for a few weeks, I asked about the progress again on May 21. I received a response that the door was ready, but that all contractors had been slammed with work for the past few months, so it might take a while to get on the contractor's schedule. (Nix Doors uses a separate contractor, Medford Remodeling, to do the installation.) We settled on June 9 as the start date for installation, which was supposed to take about a week. On June 4 the schedule got changed to the week of June 16 because the contractor was running behind on some other jobs. Finally the day came and they got to work. As with any construction job, there were a few problems here and there, but they were all dealt with in a satisfactory manner and Medford Remodeling completed their work on June 23. When all was done, we examined the door and found there were numerous nicks, scratches, and chipped-off paint spots that required touch-up. It took until July 18 and the efforts of two separate Nix Door workers to finish touching up the door so that it looked right. The job took twice as long as expected, but, in the end, we now have a beautiful front door. We would use these companies again, but with the knowledge that we'd have to be the ones to drive communication and inspect the work in detail so that it's done to our satisfaction, and with the expectation that any job will take a lot longer than is estimated.
Description of Work: Replaced a wooden front door with a wrought iron metal front door.
I tried for several months to get Nix Hardware to meet their verbal commitments to me - 3 separate occasions. I kept trying because they installed the unit that I am trying to get serviced.

Each season, our see-through gas fireplace must be serviced, as the blower almost always goes out, The fireplace is just great, a real addition to our "great" room, and very warm on a cold night. However, the blower fan (to distribute hot air into the rooms) never seems to function more than one season.
Description of Work: Nix provided bids for our new home eight years ago, as well as servicing our gas fireplace every fall season since 2003. We purchased the fireplace from them, and it has been difficult to maintain (not their fault). The company also bid on our windows for our new home, and while the product was lovely, it was not workable in our budget. Their door hardware and door selection is just terrific! And, the sales staff is somewhat knowledgeable, and will offer to find out for you if you ask.

I called Nix for a fall checkup on our gas fireplace since it had been approx. 3 yrs. since their prior visit. I can't remember the exact amount charged to clean and check it out and clean it, but it was reasonable. The reason I originally contacted them was that for about 5 yrs. after we bought this house, the gas fire place would not stay lit, and would turn itself off. We love using this fireplace since it's in the center of the house, and the blower circulates the hot air so well we don't need to use the central heat, so it's very cost effective. After having the warranty service company from Dallas several times over a period of 4 yrs. and contemplating having a new fireplace installed, I called Nix to come work on it. The arrived at the scheduled time, determined the problem and fixed it, and it's run perfectly ever since. I do remember that charge was $125, and worth every penny for the money it's saved on heating bills. I like their service people too--very nice, personable and professional. It was the same for the checkup I had last fall also. They are first rate and top quality in my book.
Description of Work: The first time I called them several years ago was to fix our gas fireplace that the warranty company out of Dallas could not fix over a period of 4 years. Then I had them do a fall checkup last year prior to using the fireplace to make sure everything was in proper working order for the season and clean it.

They had to come twice. They were pretty good. I did have a couple of issues. They were very prompt. The guy who worked on the windows was very nice and polite. The frames of a couple of the windows that he worked on cracked, I don't know if it was accidentally or he was careless, and he didn't tell me anything. I went ahead and paid. I didn't find it until a couple of days later when I was opening my windows. I was a little bit annoyed by that because I thought that he should have told me that the frame cracked when he was working on it. The price was higher than I expected, but I don't know much about things like that. A couple of the windows frames are cracked now. He should have either said something or offered to repair those windows. He was professional. I may use them in the future, but I would probably talk to him again about correcting the windows or repairing them.
Description of Work: The window and door company came out in the beginning of November and repaired all the windows in my house.

They did a great job. They performed better than I expected. They were prompt. They didn't charge me for the initial appointment. They had to go out and order parts, but they did that. They were excellent. Everything is safe and secure now. I would use them again in a heartbeat.
