A year after our addition was completed (which had been full off issues), we discovered that we had a leak within the walls due to poor workmanship on the roof (no flashing where the addition joined the roof line). We had to have a wall replaced from the water and mold build up. This was the second leak; the primary one was around the chimney and ruined a wood floor. The two stars are because the foundation guys were amazing, and we are ultimately pleased with our room.

Brand new home. Bobby and Scott seem nice but after 2 years of no heat they refused to own the HVAC failure. Scott is totally dishonest and blatantly leaves months of complaints out. Very sad someone has that low of business ethics.

We had a lot of complications in the beginning but J M Builders were with us the whole way and helped us overcome the obstacles. They know what they are doing and have wonderful workers that do beautiful work. We are very pleased with the end result.

After a very bad experience in remodeling a kitchen from another contractor, we were very hesitate to hire anyone to add an addition of bathroom and walk in closet. Mark Adair, from JM Builders, assured me it would take three months and contractors would show up in timely fashion to do the work AND they did! Very pleased with all contractors, especially James, electrician, and Kevin, plumber from AllNeeds Plumbing. With the exception of the initial independent plumber, every crew was knowledgeable and professional. Bathroom addition was finished in three months and we are very satisfied. Mark and Adrian Adair were easy to work with and Adrian did excellent trim and finishes for us.

We knew going in that we were being squeezed into their schedule, so it took a bit longer that original promised, otherwise they did a great job.

There was no customer service or return calls. There was no concern for us and we were lucky if they showed up twice a week. Continuous issues with the foundation and repairs needed.

This is my first time ever dealing with a general contractor for a room addition. My review of JM Builders is a two part review, customer service (Mark Adair) and the construction work (subcontractors). Customer service seems to be secondary, communication was poor, and pleasing the customer was poor. It would appear that getting his money was top priority. The project was supposed to start May 2017 with the filing for the permit and engineered design. We didn’t get the permit until August 22, 2017. All the blame for the delay was placed on the city of Arlington, TX and Metro Code of Fort Worth, TX plans reviewers. I had several questions that I felt were not answered truthfully by Mark Adair. I was in touch with the city and metro code throughout the whole process. Mark Adair’s answers and that of the city and metro code did not match so I threatened to file a complaint. Throughout the whole process I had to remind Mark Adair of parts of the plans that were not completed because it appears he did not communicate these plans to the subcontractors. On occasions I had to call the subcontractor(s) myself to get a job completed. I truly have mixed emotions about Mark Adair because at times he gave me the impression he could care less about the job and others times he fixed a request immediately, go figure. As for the subcontractors and the workers. The concrete foundation prep and pour, the framers, electricians, HVAC, drywall installers, trim and painters, cleanup and trash removal, all were great. We are 100% satisfied with the addition. The framer boss came out every day to make sure things were correct and taught me a little about framing. The electrician called and offered to replace the ugly outside light for free. Would I recommend JM Builders? Yes, only because of the subcontractors (workers). As for signing a contract don’t until all your questions are answered and the contract reflects what you want. I requested to amend part of my contract only to break down the work into sections to insure I’m paying for the work being done and not before. He agreed to sign the amendment when the permit was issued, we got the permit then he refused to sign the amendment. So I recommend that you get the contract the way you want it then sign. I found the best way to communicate was to text that way you will have a documented record of what was said and or promised. Lastly I very strongly suggest all inspections be done by the city inspectors. I learned a lot from the city inspector. He went over the engineered plans with me explained to me how and why certain things must be installed to avoid a red tag. I was not impressed at all with Metro Code inspectors they came in looked signed the green card and left, no questions no explanations, nothing. We are very pleased with the work done by JM Builders but it was a very, very trying experience.

Tha framers were quick and very good at their job. Painters not so much. They had to redo some their work. Trim guy Adrian, very nice work and very helpful with ideas. AC guys super quick. Electricians, slow but meticulus. Bart and James very helpful with ideas. Project was big, added 1200 sq ft to home plus outdoor patio and kithen. Over 4 months on construction project. Very nice finished project.

J M Builders were told to start a room addition on 11/1/15. (If I had seen the other homeowner's report that was posted in November 2015 - I would not have used J M builder because everything he said has come true about our addition. We looked in early June though when we went out for bids) They failed to complete the job in the 2-3 months as verbally promised by Mr. Lee Adair, the owner, who knows his business and had several good suggestions. However, now 8 months later we still do not have a completed addition. His sons, Adrian, Mark and his grandson, Jason are taking the business over, and they do not have a clue what it takes to be a contractor. It repeatedly failed inspections and now they have multiple code restrictions/ violations on the final inspection. They have had 4 weeks to complete /correct these violations and additional complaints that we have against the workmanship of the addition for months now. They have repeatedly provided poor to complete lack of management, lack of communication, and lack of commitment to complete this job. After numerous phone calls, text messages, and emails, they have downplayed the importance of our addition. We made the mistake of letting them know my mother passed away (reason we went into another 15 years of debt to have her move in) and all of sudden our room addition went to the end of the priority list of their jobs. J M Builders failed to provide the room dimensions we requested due to the lack of their knowledge or failing to review the project details. They decreased the square livable footage because they did not increase the foundation for the brick ledge cheating us out of square footage that was bid- and that we paid for. When the concrete was poured it was brought to Adairs attention. Mark Adair tried to blame us because we did not notice the foundation framework was not built correctly. (I thought that was what he was being paid for to oversee his subcontractors work- Oh yeah that was our fault too because we gave them a detailed floorplan to work from, but they forgot to adjust for the brick ledge. We the customer was supposed to know to do that) They did not follow city code for laying the gas line and refused to correct it. My husband had to suggest an alternate plan to run the line. The entire room and bathroom including the shower were to be handicap accessible which we had to pay higher prices for doors etc... It is no longer handicap accessible because due to the square footage problem the shower has only a 23 inch door space to enter. We brought this to Jason Adair's attention to adjust it by 6 inches (because for some reason the framer did not frame it out correctly), but Jason said no it was to much trouble, and it would be ok. If a handicap person cannot get in the shower what good was this addition - It is the sole reason we wanted this addition to begin with. There have so many problems it would take 10 pages to write them all. When Lee Adair was informed of
