This was a gift for a long time family friend who is elderly with knee problems and did not have railing on her front porch. I was very concerned about her falling off her porch so I called Sherry Dunnagan. As always she was so friendly, polite and compassionate about my concerns for my friend and went above and beyond to take care of it. She made it happen so quickly that I was pleasantly surprised and so excited to bless my friend. I would not hesitate to use them again. This was my second time to use them and as always very professional and great quality!! Super Job!! Thank You...

Extremely well. Sherry Dunnagan is a champ and a south side custom iron works institution. I have used her for years on our properties. She designed, built and installed our home driveway gate, as well as custom built our 18 feet wide double iron gates and all the built-on-site fencing for our event space property.

We wanted a pretty curved railing that would be useful but would also enhance the look of the front porch and steps. Other providers claimed to do custom work, but we had a hard time finding what we wanted in their catalogues and on the computer. Sherry Dunnagan was able to give us a custom drawing according to what we had in mind and it fit perfectly with what we had envisioned. Our meeting was quick and professional. Sherry was very pleasant to work with. The railings arrived on time and were installed quickly. We are simply delighted with the results. The front of our house looks like a New Orleans villa now.

Sherry was not the cheapest bid, but I felt good about having her do it because I thought she needed the work. She was prompt at providing a bid, but the actual work was several days later than planned. The welding work was good quality, but the collateral damage far outweighed the work quality. The evening after the work was done I went to the job site to inspect, only to find huge oil stains on my driveway and tracks where a heavy vehicle had been driven over my newly installed sod. When I asked Sherry what happened to my driveway and sod, she denied having left any oil on the drive and not to have driven her truck over the new sod. That part did make me laugh, because the security camera clearly showed her directing the truck driver to move the welding truck off the new sod not once but twice. I was able to repair the damage to the sod however after 6 months of periodic concrete cleaner applications and power washing the oil stains remain. For me the damage inflicted during the repair far outweighed the benefit of the repair.

After meeting with Sherry Dunnagan at our home and evaluation of the gate project, we hired her on the spot to make our gate. Although we didn't have a clear idea of the design we wanted, she somehow knew the look we wanted to achieve. She has an impressive portfolio to assist in ideas for decision making. Her professional, engaging personality made working with her such a pleasure, and we had complete confidence in her capabilities. This gate was to replace 2 tacky double-stacked pet gates at the doorway opening to keep our dogs and cats out of the 2nd story of our home. These tension gates were not only tacky, but dangerous to unlatch and remove while standing on the 2nd floor landing area. My husband met her at her shop a couple of times to decide on the width of the iron scrollwork and the size of the spaces between them to insure our small kitty could not squeeze through. When we decided some openings might be large enough for the cat to get through, she added more decorative iron in those areas to prevent it. She was very helpful and accommodating as she did this project. She painted it satin black to match the wrought iron railing on our spiral staircase. She and Pepe installed it yesterday, and it is more stunning than anything we could have imagined. I can't stop looking at it and the transformation it made in our entry, not to mention the lack of having to gaze upon the 2 tacky pet gates! This gate not only serves its purpose but is a beautiful piece of artwork that completed and quot;the lookand quot; in our entry, tying in the existing ironwork on the stairs, black mosaic carpet on the stairs and the exquisite gate that Sherry made. The U-shaped gate latch is unique also, and very beautiful and user-friendly as you open or close the gate. I saw from another member that the final price of their project was less than originally quoted. In our case, extra ironwork was added at OUR request beyond the original concept and quote to increase the cost a nominal amount, which is only right and fair. I would hire her again without reserve, and cannot recommend her enough. She's a 10.

Contacted Sherry Dunnagan from listing on Angie's list around Jun 15. She came out a few days later and gave an estimate. Said it would be about a month before they would have it ready due to heavy workload. It was a custom-made gate to match rest of fence. She returned about a month later to install the gate. Matched fence perfectly and was high quality work. The price was even a little lower than the estimate. How often does that happen?

We had a very unique wrought iron fencing project, build multiple dog pens in our garage. It was a puzzle if you will with pens interconnected at two different elevations with interconnecting gates. Sherry at Dunnigan was more than up for the job. I showed her what I envisioned and she set about to make it a reality. The project was completed within three weeks of contract signing and though there were a few hiccups Sherry and Pepe worked them out. The pens have worked out much better than I had imaged; with the bottom rail of the fence 2" above the floor, cleaning the individual pens and washing them down is a breeze. If you're looking for a wrought iron fencing company, give Sherry at Dunnigan a call, she's up for your challenege.Phil Bedford, TX

Great experience! The windows bars look great and I am SOOOO pleased!! I was afraid they'd look all ominous and prison-y but because they custom painted them the color that coordinated with my brick/shutter colors and custom-fit and installed them inside the recessed part of the window they just blend perfectly as though they belong/been there all along. Sherry (owner) is very nice lady who knows her ironworks. She and the installer (Pepe I think it was) showed up when they said and everyhing was installed in a few hours by people who obviously take lots of pride in their work (they even fixed my broken shutters while they were there). Sherry's dad would be proud.

The table: I discussed at length with Sherry what I was hoping for. She was very helpful with suggestions, patiently showing me options, drawing ideas. The price she charged for this custom table ($250) was, to me, an amazingly good price. In fact, she wanted less, but I insisted on more!!!!! After I picked up the table, I decided that I really wanted another shelf and asked if she could add another layer of brackets for the glass. She charged me next to nothing to add all this extra welding! I now have a gorgeous table custom fitted to the bottom of a wooden Chinese jewelry chest, with two glass shelves below for decorative items. The railing: Although we'd been thinking about adding a railing to our front walkway to the porch for quite some time, we never got Sherry to participate in a quote and, otherwise did nothing about the project. We've been in the middle of laying flagstones up to the front porch and suddenly the light bulb went off. She came running within the hour!!!! Worked through details with the flagstone guy, designs, quote, we gave a deposit on the spot. Throughout their lay-out and welding, she kept terrific communication with me. She made one extra trip when the flagstone guy had a question. Sherry showed phenomenal concern that the job was going to turn out exactly as we wanted. Responding to our unreasonable time-line, within a few days later (not even a week!), she and Pepe came to install. It's PERFECT. A complicated project in that part of a step had to be chiselled away. It's never a straight shot in an older home and this application involved matching another railing, but this one had to have several angles in it because of the spacing of the steps. They rallied beautifully and made it work. I HIGHLY recommend!

Sherry came out to our house, evaluated the job being requested and gave us a price. She was very prompt in coming. Each day , she and her employees arrived promptly and worked steadily . The only disappointment we really have is the lack of quality of paint used on the finished product.
Description of Work: The company installed "puppy bars" around our wrought iron fence. The gentleman who did the welding did an excellent job. The job was completed within a reasonable peiord of time. However, on the last day, after Sherry had received final payment and had left, we were very disappointed to discover that the paint that she used to paint the puppy bars was an interior-exterior house paint, not a quality paint made for iron with a rust inhibitor. During the last three days of working on the project, on several occasions she complained about the job being larger than she had expected. She said that she had paid us the last two days. If she misjudged the extent of the job in her estimate, it certainly was not our fault. The job included making puppy bars, installing the bars and painting them. The first two responsibilities were well done. The final step--painting- was inferior as to quality of product used.

This is my second report for this company, the previous installation was 6 or so years ago for a previously owned property. Sheryl Dunnigan is keeping up her father's business and she knows it well. It is a small company. She does the visit and estimate. She also helped at the time of installation. She is very ethical, hard-working and aims to please. I have always enjoyed working with her and am very pleased with the results overall. One small detail was not descussed up front so it came out differently than I had expected but it was no big deal.
Description of Work: Removed rotted wood 8' high gate and short fence section at side of house. Removed old wood fence, maybe 12 feet at other side of the house. Replaced with wrought iron gate and fence (open) at 6 feet tall, and the other side with a wrought iron fence with wood slats inbetween the iron slats for privacy. Also removed the old posts sunk in lots of concrete and replaced with wrought iron new ones to match gate and fence.

The Dunnagan company finished the project in exactly one week from the day I called. I was very impressed by the fact that Sherry and her main man came by late on Saturday to remove the damaged sections and to install the new post, this being because rain was forecast the next day and they didn't want to see the project delayed. They were back on Tuesday to install the repaired fencing. Welding the repaired sections in place and installing the new gate, of course, scorched and scratched the newly painted iron in a few places. Late in the day, I watched as Sherry's man touched up the paint in the gathering darkness. Even though he knew that they'd be back another day to finish painting the portions of the fence he hadn't repaired, he was unwilling to leave until the work he'd done looked its best. I'm 72 years old and that level of dedication from artisans and craftsmen, while common 50 years ago, is much less common now. Well done. The completed job made the fencing look even better than new, as I'd done the original painting and the folks at Dunnagan bested my work easily. Overall a really great job at a really fair price.
Description of Work: Two 9 foot sections of the one inch iron stringers on my wrought iron fencing had rusted through and needed to be replaced. I figured I'd not find a reputable company who would be willing to repair the fence and that I'd likely be out quite a bit of money to have the whole thing replaced. Lucky for me I called Dunnagan Iron Works. Sherry Dunnagan, the owner and operator, came by my home the same day I called. She agreed she could have her people cut out the damaged sections, haul them to her work place, replace the rusted stringers, spray paint and reinstall the sections. I also asked her to cut one of the sections in two pieces and reinstall it as an additional gate into my back yard. This, of course, required installing an additional 2 inch post. Sherry priced this entire project at $500, considerably less than I'd expected to be out.

The owner and her helper did absolutely fantastic work; I could not have gotten a finer-looking gate than what they made for me. The price probably should have been higher for the product I got, but I am so thankful to them for making it within my means to have this work of art. They worked under very adverse weather conditions, and some other technical setbacks which can occur on any project, but the owner handled them beautifully, just like a woman. She is the kind of contractor you wish for: high standards in workmanship, quality materials and installation, professionalism, and treats you and your property with respect. She is top notch...In summary, Dunnagan Iron Works rocks!
Description of Work: Installation of a wrought iron gate with the following job details: - first digging out the existing deeply-set cement base that held the remnants of a rotted, broken post and hauling off the debris in order to install one of the two necessary iron posts that would hold the gate; - then digging a hole for the base of the the second iron post; - pouring cement and centering two iron posts into the cement bases with approximately 6 feet showing from the ground up; - after the necessary drying time, installing an arched gate with a frame of one and 1/4 in. frame, seven half-inch pickets, and puppy bars at the bottom. The iron was cut and painted at the shop with the finishing touches at my property. The owner (Sherry Dunnagan) showed me pictures of her previous work, to give me an idea of how much ornate or detail I wanted. With her help, I chose some detail work but not overly ornate.

Sherry Dunnagan was prompt, professional and wonderful to work with. She came out to house within a day, gave me written estimate on the spot, quoted her time frame to do work and then followed through exactly as she promised. She would call to inform me where she was in process and to let me know exactly when she would be doing the install. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Also, repositioned second post, rebuilt 8' fence section and reinstalled everything: 2 - 8' fence sections, 2 - 4" x 4" posts, drilled new holes in driveway for gates to close properly. Realigned gates to close, adjusted and leveled gates, posts and fence sections to look straight, level and brand new.
