Door Doctors, Inc, a local and family owned company, has continusouly serviced the Metroplex since 1953. With over 100 years of combined experience we offer onsite job repairs and/or replacement on all types of doors. All customers receive a written quote before work is started. We accept all major credit cards and emergency service is available.
I called Door Doctors to do some minor repairs on a couple of exterior doors, based on the recommendation of the door-guy at Lowe's. I described (accurately) the work we wanted done when I called. The Door Doctors representative arrived right when he said he would, evaluated our doors, said he thought that he could help us, and said he would give us a bid. We never heard back from them. I called about a week later to remind them, thinking that I might have missed the call or their email went to the SPAM folder. They said they would contact us and I STILL never heard back. I would have preferred for them to just tell me that our job wasn't what they do, or even give an outrageously high bid expecting us to refuse, rather than to be left hanging waiting for a response that never came.

These guys did a great job!!! Initially they cut down a big tree and used a stump grinder on the stump and roots in the back yard. This was the in spring of 2012.. The following summer I delt with a lot of sprouts growing that looked like it was from some roots they missed. I kept putting off calling them to come grind the remaining roots. I finally called in late fall 2013. I fully expected to pay because it had been so long. When they showed up, they realized that they missed some roots and the stump hadn't been ground down far enough. So when the guy shows up, I ask him to grind a stump and roots in the front yard (different than the tree they did previously). After finishing the front yard, we moved to the backyard. He must've been there three hours. When i pulled out my checkbook, he said and quot;NO CHARGEand quot;!!!! Great company, great people!!!!

I purchased this Angie's List offer in December, 2012. I wrote a bad review because they could not do the work for 2 months so I cancelled service and told Angie's. Then I got a call from the owner of Door Dr's and wanted another chance and asked I retract my 1st review. I said ok and I did because I needed the work done. He said he would call with a date and time but never did!

These guys were great to work with. When they came out, they gave me an estimate on the work which involved removing 2 doors, re-hanging an old door in one of the and building out a new door to install an electronic dog door and some windowing. They also refurbished the door which was replaced to improve the weather-stripping. They did a great job with the work, and were better than their estimate in terms of the time it took. While I wish it would have cost less, I did shop around, and their prices were competitive. The service was excellent.

When I first ordered service in December of 2012 the owner emailed me back and said he would not be able to schedule service until February, 2013. I decided to cancel order because that was too far out. I did a survey stating I was not satisfied with the order. I felt that the schedule availability was unreasonable. The owner called me in February, 2013 to request that I resend my poor evaluation survey and he would come out to do the work at the agreed Angie's List price. I agreed and took back my poor survey but n ever heard back from them and service never performed.

Called mid-week for a Friday morning appointment at 9:00 a.m. At 10:10 nobody had shown up or called. When the office was called, the response was that the service person was ill. Either the office or the service person should have been proactive and called to reschedule the appointment rather than us having to call to find out why nobody made the appointment. Missing two hours of work for this unprofessionalism wasn't a good impression.

Contacted several times over last 2 months to get a quote to install an automatic door opener from garage into home for better wheelchair access. Always had to call back to force a response. Finally talked to actual installer (who seemed quite knowledgeable) to discuss details, but never got a written estimate after multiple calls. Seems like they have done a lot of these installs for commercial buildings, but must not be that interested in residential installs.

on the inside of door when I mentioned to him that the door contact was not installed and he was about to put the alarm contact in the door frame, not installed. Installer took off the trim and then wanted me to sign a waiver of liability in case the alarm did not work. I said no and advised he was responsible for putting the alarm back. One of the installer's co-workers said that usually he drills a hold in the new door frame before nailing it in place to push the door contact through which the installer did not do. The door contact could not be put in because there was not enough room to push the door contact from inside the space where the sheet rock was and the door frame. I had to schedule for an alarm company to come out on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, to run a new wire and put the alarm contact back in. The installer said he was going to have to order a threshold extender again attempting to blame me for the wrong measurements on the door frame. Installer asked to use my power drill again since his was not working which was okay but a little odd. 6. Tuesday, October 25, 2011 - alarm company completed the repairs to the door for a total of $101. I called the installer and told him Friday, October 27, 2011, would be a good day to finish the door. The installer said he would call me and let me know when a good time would be. 7. Friday, October 27, 2011 - installer finally showed up around 1000 AM but I had to call the company to find out where he was. Installer told me that he was trying to round up another threshold extender because the one he had ordered did not fix the door. 8. Fridy, October 27, 2011 - I advised the installer I was deducting the $101 alarm company bill from his amount of $364. The installer did not understand even after I explained to him the circumstances regarding his mistakes. The installer also complained again about the measurements being off and the storm door having too many parts. The installer did not put in the peep hole stating he had forgot and did not caulk the door frame stating it was a painter's job and that he did not have a caulk gun. Installer said he did not charge me for drive time even though this was not mentioned in the original estimate. 9. Complaints on the work done by the installer. One, installer never initiated any phone calls with me. The phone calls he made to me were always in response to me having called him or his office. Two, the installer left the job and went to fix a busted water line for his boss. Three, the installer did not take the necessary precautions in attaching the door contact to the new frame resulting in me having to call an alarm company run a new wire and contact to the door. Four, the installer did not put in a peep hole which I requested. Finally, the installer did not caulk the door frame. 10. The overall quality of the work was good but the professionalism was way below standards and not acceptable.
Description of Work: 1. Setup time for Door Doctors to come which was on Thu, 10/20/11, during morning since I was on vacation. Installer had not shown up by 10 AM so I called him. The installer said he had left a message on my cell phone but when he repeated the phone number I gave him and his office, it was wrong. The installer had already booked another job for the morning and advised he would be at my house by noon. Installer did not show up until 1:15 PM and had called earlier asking for directions to my house. 2. Thursday, 10/21/11 - installer had to leave to take care of his owner's busted water line at her house at about 3 PM returning about 4 PM. Installer did not finish the job but made sure the door frame was in and the door could install. Installer had already made sure not to disconnect the alarm contact on the door when he pulled the old frame out but did not drill a hole for the contact when he put the new frame in. Installer said he would put the contact in on Friday, 10/22/11. Installer also had to borrow my power drill to complete his work for the day which was understandable and I did not mind. 3. Thursday, 10/21/11 - installer complained about the measurements of the threshold and door jam being incorrect even though it was his measurements I used to buy the door for a contractor he recommended. Installer also complained about trim not being on the door frame even though he had not told me to get trim for the door. I also asked if a peep hole could be put in and the installer advised he could do that. 5. Friday, 10/22/11 - installer showed up around 11 AM to finish the door. Installer had brought two helpers to put on the storm door I purchased because they were more familiar with putting the type of storm door purchased. Installer complained it had too many parts to the door. Installer was in the process of putting the trim

I was having trouble finding much information on different types of weatherstripping and how to handle my problem where the gap is not the same at the top of the door as it is at the bottom. Mike was courteous and helpful even though he had to know there was a chance I wouldn't be spending any money with him. He's smart enough to know that a helpful word now, even if it doesn't result in a sale, can result in a sale down the road, or could result in me referring a friend or family member to him. If he had pressured me at all I would have said and quot;no thanksand quot; and kept searching for help anyway.
Description of Work: I've got a partial gap around my front door due to foundation shifting. I called the Door Doctor but didn't leave a message. Mike called me back quickly. I described my problem, told him what I was thinking about doing, and wanted to know if he had other suggestions. Mike gave me an idea I hadn't thought of that should fix the gap. He did offer to come by and make the repair for the cost of a service call, but I'm a bit of a do-it-yourself kind of guy and I think I can handle this. Although I do need to purchase some weatherstripping, and if I find it's expensive I will give him the business. Mike was courteous and professional and I wouldn't hesitate to contact this company in the future.

the first worker i spoke with said the highest amount would be $189 and that would only be if he had to adjust the entire frame and the exterior storm door frame. i told him only the one portion of the front door frame needed adjustment and he told me it would be significatntly less in that case; probably less that $100. i called a week in advance to make sure i could get a morning appt on the following tuesday morning. the worker said that wasn't a problem and that he would call me on monday (the day before) to set the actual appt. by 3pm monday, i had not heard back so i called the main number. another worker called back and said there was a $89 service call fee on top of the labor charges for the actual work and that the minimum cost would be $172 for one hour of work. i told the guy who i initally spoke with and what i was told and he said he would cut me a break since that's what i was told. a third guy showed up to do the work. the work was completed. now there is a larger gap at the top of the door and the appropriate amount of space at the bottom of the door. the top part of the frame was adjusted too much so i had to buy weather stripping to fill the gap. i was charged 172 for less than an hour of work. won't use this company again. no discount for using angie's list. all workers are contracted out which is probably why there is so much confusion when trying to book appt's and apparently such a discrepency in the price.
Description of Work: the front right bottom corner of my front door hits the frame due to poor construction when the house was built. i needed the bottom portion of the door frame adjusted back to make enough space for the door to close properly.

Our front door had been sticking (due to foundation problems that we are getting fixed soon) but all of a sudden it wouldn't close at all. I called Door Doctor and they had Spencer call me back. He originally said he would be here in about 2-2.5 hours. It was actually about 4 hours before he finally made it, though he did call me a couple of times to let me know he had been delayed and update his ETA. Once he arrived he looked the door over and suggested a couple of things he could try. He immediately understood that we wanted a and quot;quick and dirtyand quot; fix rather than a complete overhaul since we will probably have to do it all over again once the foundation is fixed. He tried using a mallet to flatten the sill plate slightly, but that wasn't enough. So he removed the door frame and took off the bottom metal trim. He still didn't think that was sufficient to be sure to hold us until the foundation is done, so he also sanded some off the bottom of the door. The door closes easily now. We both thought it was all done. I paid him and he headed out. I shut the door, then tried to lock it. Only then did I realize the door had shifted so much it wouldn't lock. Thankfully Spencer was still at his truck. He came back in and looked at it. It had shifted enough (and the door jamb had been worked on enough) that he actually had to chisel out some more of the jamb to allow him to lower the strike plates enough. He worked on it for another 15 minutes to get the lock working, for no extra charge. I was quite happy with the service overall. Once we get the foundation done we will probably be calling Spencer back out to fix it all for good.
Description of Work: Our front door wouldn't close. Spencer took the door off its hinges, removed the old trim at the bottom and sanded the door down so it would close. Then we discovered that it also would no longer lock so he adjusted the strike plates for both the handle and the deadbolt so they lined up with the locks.

James came when he said he would, asked for a description of the problem, assessed the problem, took the door out of the frame, removed and replaced the frame, and then reinstalled the door
Description of Work: My door was repaired approximately six months ago. One reason for the delayed response is that this same door has gotten stuck or out of alignment multiple times since I moved here several years ago; and, after multiple repairs, the problem recurred in less than six months. James came out, removed the door, and realigned the door frame. The door is as easy to open and close now as it was the day he left. I highly recommend this service provider.

James did a wonderful job, the doors work just like new! In addition, the final price was a little less that the estimate.
Description of Work: Our home was built in 1952 and has several large steel framed sliding glass doors that were very hard to open and significantly leaked air. After being told by three other door service companies that the doors were too old to repair and would require replacement, I contacted The Door Doctors via Angie's list. James came out and said "no problem, I can take care of it".
