Would rate negative stars if possible! Our experience with Calverley Service Experts has been infuriating. Their deceptive handling of ownership vs. leasing is misleading to say the least. Their refusal to provide a complete written payoff amount despite numerous requests is utterly unprofessional and is just the beginning. Per the words of an attorney, the contract was one of the 'dirtiest' he had ever seen. We were told that our system had a catastrophic failure and that the only alternative to replacing our entire system was to spend thousands of dollars on AC fluid which would likely leak, waste our money, and still not fix the problem. With the Texas heat and 3 pushy salesman on our shoulders, it would be an understatement to say we felt trapped into replacing both units in entirety. To this day, we do not understand why we were made to pay to replace the inside heating unit as well as the outside AC unit when, to our knowledge, it was only the AC which malfunctioned. Furthermore, their calculated deception regarding their service contract is compounded by the lead salesman's misleading actions. He not only made an erroneous recommendation but also lied about it. Despite admitting the inappropriateness of his suggestion for those planning to move within 5 years, he dishonestly denied our clear expressions of such intent. His continued focus on the supposed benefits for future homeowners and home value elevation was nothing less than deceitful. In addition, his false assertion that we could negotiate prices at a later point only adds to the deception. This conduct is utterly reprehensible and indicative of a company lacking ethical integrity. At this juncture, we are resolute in our desire to sever all ties with Calverley Service Experts. This situation requires urgent attention. A swift, satisfactory, and comprehensive resolution to this disheartening matter is not only expected but imperative. At this time, Calverley's deception and lack of response leaves us currently in fear that the sale of our home will not be completed as expected and the obsurd price of their HVAC contract will severely limit our financial ability to purchase our new home.

OK. They temporarily installed a substitute motor to provide cooling until the proper part was found. They later installed the proper part. The tech was excellent to work with.

After inspecting the attic unit, the tech recommended blowing out the drain line and installing a float sensor to shut down the unit should water accumulate too high. We then went to the outside unit and when we approached it there were wasps flying around. The tech went into the attic while I killed the wasps. The charge for blowing out the line was $114, It took less than two minutes. Installing the float switch cost $179. The parts are readily available (at retail price) for less than $20. The switch installation took maybe an additional 5 minutes. The total bill was $382 including an $89 'tune-up' charge that was not performed. Originally, the tech told me the $89 was the service call charge and was not negotiable. On the receipt, it was called 'tune-up'. All in all, I spent nearly $400 for 10 minutes of work and didn't get the tune-up I originally wanted. I should also mention that Calverly was the original installer of my system quite a few years ago. The reason I consented to have the float switch installed was because, several years after the original installation, the entire ceiling in a guest bedroom fell to the floor soaked with water. It happened because the PVC joints were not glued at all and had been leaking for many months. It was too long since the install and for this and other reason I did not pursue it with Calverly. Prior experiences with them had been reasonable. This one was not. The charges were excessive and not representative of the work performed. I acknowledge I authorized the work, but I won't be using them again.
Description of Work: I had no problems with my AC system. Only wanted to maximize performance and simply asked for a tune-up.

Called to have them check on A/C problem at my rental unit in Fort Worth. A/C not coming on. Tech shows up and calls me after checking system. He says I have 2 issues. 1) wire going to compressor outside is deteriorated and 2) my coil is completely clogged preventing air flow. He wants almost $500 to install $15 worth of wire and almost $1,100 to unclog a coil that isn't clogged. Judge for yourself. The words CHEAT, CROOK, DISHONEST all come to mind.

The maintenance plan is 200 something, and they come out to check your system twice a year. When I had a problem with my HVAC, they are the only paticular company that would come out that particular day. It took them an 1-2 hours to complete the work. The workers were knowledgeable.

They come every season. They are A-plus, plus, plus. I was using another company and they tried to sell me a lot more than what Calverley said I owed. I'm single, and when they went upstairs to blow the insulation, they thought the ladder was unsafe and the man screwed it in for me. Now tell me that's not nice. That's amazing.

We've lived here 25 years. So they've been around a really long time. They're really good about doing that. We've bought air conditioning units from them and we've had really good response from them. They've always come out rather quickly, we've never had any issues with them. Their pricing is probably average and good. I've never used anybody else to know. They're very efficient and very timely. We've never had to wait on them and they recommend things, but they really don't push hard. They'll say, You probably need to get this up here," but they're not pushy salesmen and keep adding on stuff. I really appreciate that.

I had a contract with them for several years. They came out twice a year, for the winter and then for the summer. They were very bad, they weren't a good company at all. They were supposed to put some antifreeze or whatever in my unit and it burnt up and they weren't doing what they said they were doing and I ended up having to get a new system. I would never use them again. I had a very bad experience.

I am very satisfied with them. I know I could probably find a more economical company, but I am very happy with their work, and the fact that I can request the service technician that I want to come out here to do the work. My contract cost is $138.00 per year.
Description of Work: I have a yearly contract where they come out once for the heating season and once for the cooling season, and if I need them at other times, my unit is still under warranty, so I just pay for parts. I bought this unit from them in early 2015, because they had been my service provider for several years, and my old unit developed a hole in one of the heat exchangers, which could have caused a carbon monoxide problem.

They charged me $161 to fix a unit that they new had a leak in it that would not hold a freon and want to charge me for $900 for freon and additional fund investigate to locate the leak in a 20 year old unit. Everytime I call, they won't let me speak to the person who is over everybody. They put me through the HR department. I'm not trying to get a job there and I don't need to speak to HR. I just want to get my money back.
Description of Work: They came on April 7 and told me that everything is good in my unit during their maintenance service. I called them back the following Monday because the A/C was not working. The technician came back on the 16th and charged me the $161.00. On April 18th, Craig Wood salesman from this company was trying to sell me a new A/C unit.

.I called this morning and canceled the appointment. The telephone representative admitted that I did NOT have a service agreement with Service Experts Fort Worth. I had done business with this company in years past, but this practice of theirs of calling to announce that they were sending a technician without a request for service on my part was the reason I stopped doing business with them about 4 years ago and started using another company. I feel that they are trying to drum up business using a deceptive sales technique of setting up unsolicited appointments to send technicians to former customers on the pretext of an implied service agreement (that actually does not exist) and then billing for the service contract after the fact. If my daughter had not told me in a timely manner about this call (which was not revealed to be a sales call by the telephone representative), I might have had an unpleasant scene when the technician arrived at my house and then tried to charge me for a service I did not order because there was a scheduled appointment with the company.

System was working fine but needed a checkup and probably some Freon. Before checking outside unit, went to attic to check blower and heating unit. Came down said I had some leaking coils that needed to be replaced. Then compressor outside. Told me capacitor and blower units were reading weak and probably should be replaced. He called supervisor while in attic to come out. Now, lets be clear the supervisor is a salesman that is a all he does as from his neatly pressed shirt and pants I could see he doesn't work much. He, of course, confirmed his techs findings and provided 3 quotes from $2,217 to $4,731 on what needed to be done. I told him I would think about it. This morning I wake up and was a bit warm although I could hear the compressor running outside the window. What I then realized is that the blower was not running. Went outside and found the compressor values starting to freeze over. Shutdown unit. Let's review, unit working fine before Service experts. Not working after their visit. Not a coincidence here folks... Also of note is that the tech wrote up "Low on Freon". Now as he did not check the Freon, how would he know it was low on. Freon? I would rather deal with Satan than Service Experts.

We regret that you thought we were trying to talk you into buying equipment when you didn't need one. We try to explain as clearly as possible to our customers what is wrong and what it takes to fix it correctly. If our technician recommended replacing equipment, there most likely was a good reason for it. If there is a low-cost, yet responsible alternative we can suggest, we will. But we do not offer solutions that do not actually fix the problem. If you wish to contact us directly, please email us at CustomerCare@ServiceExperts.com and allow us the opportunity to resolve your concerns if possible.

I am a senior citizen and it was a 105-degree day when my 7-year-old RUUD System stopped cooling due to the coils freezing up because of a clogged filter. I changed the filter and saw that it was clogged with the diatomaceous earth (DE) that I had mistakenly used under the unit not realizing that it would be sucked up into the filter. I called Service Experts and Mario was sent to service it. He unfroze the coils and told me that they looked very bad and corroded. He touched it several places with a leak detector which beeped each time indicating several leaks. He said he had to call his supervisor and went outside to call and acted very secretive. He came back in and went to the outside unit and I followed because I always accompany anyone working on the unit. He said that the compressor was failing and asked me couldn't I hear how bad it sounded. I told him that it sounded the same to me. He passed his hand over the outside unit and said that he could tell by the air it put out that it was not working properly. He told me to put my hand over it and ask couldn't I see how wrong it felt. Very soon, there was a knock at the door and the person told me that he was the supervisor and that he had to came in. He gave me a card that identified him as Stephen Miley, Residential Sales Consultant. He began a high pressure effort to sell me a new unit. He and the technician, Mario, worked hard to convince me that the system had failed. They did a lot of secretive conferring. I told them that their company had checked the system in June and could not find anything wrong with it. They said that mechanical systems can fail suddenly. They showed me the leak detector beeping again. and went outside and and told me that the compressor was failing. They said the valves were failing and the clutch was trying to work but because of the failing valves it was failing. They asked couldn't I hear it. I told them I didn't believe the system was failing because it had frozen up because of the DE that was sucked up into the filter. Mr. Miley said that he and Mario had talked it over and the reason the system had failed was because of the coil leaks causing low coolant levels which had made the compressor valves fail. I asked how low the levels were and they said they were too low to check. Mario told me that the system may be out by morning but definitely would not last all summer. It was terribly hot and with their high pressure, I signed a contract for a new Lennox system for $8040 to be installed the next morning .I also paid a $99 service fee. I realized later that they kept the A/C off until I signed the contract. They warned that the system would be out soon. After they left, I thought it over and realized that something was not right. I checked Angie's list and found a very reputable A/C company and called them and told them what had happened and I wanted a second opinion. They told me they would do it for free because it sounded wrong to them. I also canceled the contract with Service Experts by phone and letter. Mr. Miley tried to high pressure against canceling it. I told him that I had researched his company and there were a lot of complaints and I did not want a Lennox system after researching it. I also said I was getting a second opinion which he tried to argue against. The owner (Scott) of the other company came the next day all the way from Grapevine to SW Fort Worth to give a second opinion. He checked the inside system and said the coils were not leaking and that it is easy to make a leak detector beep and he doesn't use them. Then he went to the outside unit and opened it up as I watched. He said that they had left off the service covers. I looked down and sure enough they weren't there. We looked around in the grass for them and they were not there. I asked him what happens when the service covers are left off. He said it creates a slow leak of coolant. Taking the covers allows the coolant to leak out and then the predicted system failure. Scott said that the compressor's valves were not failing and that it is a scroll compressor and they do not have valves. Service Experts had put this in writing that the valves were going out and the coils were leaking! Scott checked the coolant level and added one pound of coolant to bring it full and put on new service covers.. (Service Experts' Mr. Miley had said that the coolant levels were too low to check.) Scott would not take payment. He said I had been through enough. He said that the system should last 12 - 15 years/ It has been six months and there have been no problems. My system is a heat pump which means the outside and inside units work all year round.

Our air conditioner quit pumping cold air. We called at 5:15 p.m. Someone was there within 45 minutes. They quickly diagnosed the problem. The repairman had a part on his truck and replaced it. He was courteous and professional. We have used Calverly for years and now Service Experts has acquired this company. We have been nervous about what kind of service we would receive with the new company, but since changing, they have not let us down. If anything, they have improved.

....We've unfortunately had several issues with our AC unit.We called SERVICE EXPERTS on 11-29-2011 due to warranty on a previous part that had been replaced. The technician David with Service Experts, after trying to troubleshoot the issue, told us that the wrong part had been previously installed by another company. So we asked him to please just replace the part that was under warranty (ignition ignitor) with Service Experts and that we would call the previous company to get the other part replaced. We asked David with Service Experts if he could please give us the part number to the part that needed to be replaced as well as the part that was incorrectly replaced. He then stated that he would do so after returning from picking up the ignition ignitor. After returning and replacing the part that was under warranty we then asked him again for the part number to the part that was incorrectly replaced. He gave us the part number to the part that we needed however would not give us the part number to the part that was incorrectly replaced. We asked him that if he had already called and had the number if he could just please call again. "He stated that he had already gone above and beyond his duties." We then asked him to please call them so that we could give him a better recommendation on his duties in making the costumer happy. He walked outside muttering to himself as we tried reasoning with him that this would be all that was needed so that we can take care of the problem ourselves. At that point he turned around with an aggressive deminer so we then asked him to leave our premises. After David left our home we then made a call to his company (SERVICE EXPERTS) to make them aware that we were not happy and that their employee David did not give us a customer satisfaction. Where we then were referred to speak to his supervisor Rick. After making Rick aware of the situation, he then suggested that they would not replace the part for free, however that was not our intention, he then hung up on us. We then called back and was told that they would have the branch manager call us back. Service Experts have been to our home 4 times over the same issue and we've spent several dollars and finally now they have diagnosed our issue. We have had several technicians from Service Experts in our home before who would place booties over their shoes before as well as to take them off entering however David did not. As far as Service Experts, their name does not reflect on how we were treated.
Description of Work: Since July we've had problems with our AC unit. It always seem to be our ignition ignitor. We chose Service Experts to come and fix the issue. They came 4 times and every time it was the same part that we were having to replace (ignition ignitor). We finally were told that it was the motherboard and that it was going to be over $700 to replace. We asked them to just replace the ignition ignitor and we'd check the warranty on the other part. We then asked David to please give us the part number to the motherboard that needed to be replaced as well as the part that was currently on our unit. He told us that he had already gone above and beyond his duties. We asked him to leave our home and called Service Experts to file a complaint with his manager. His manager assuming that we were asking for the part to be replaced for free... we told him that this is not what we wanted but that all we wanted was for him to be aware that his tech did not meet their customer satisfaction. Where he then rudely hung up the phone while we were still talking. The service that Service Experts provided were no where near what we expected. We honestly hope that no one else has to deal with this. Previous to this we had another issue when Service Experts wanted to charge us $270. for the ignition ignitor when I found this part on Ebay for $19. I called other AC companies that told me that this was not the right pricing for this part. When I brought it to their attention. They then had this part warrantied..

The service and technician were fine. Problem started when I received bill in July for $138.00, the amount I pay each year for routine maintenance in the spring and fall (the same service they are offering Angle's list customers for $99.00). I paid by check and had a receipt signed by the tech saying I'd paid in full and owed $0.00. I called and spoke to customer service who agreed I owed nothing and said they'd take care of it. Then got ANOTHER bill in August, called again with same response -I owed nothing, they'd take care of it. They didn't - instead I got a threatening letter from a collection agency they hired! ! I sent EVERYONE copies of the cancelled check and receipt showing payment in full - and received yet a SECOND threatening letter from the collection agency. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and received an e-mail from Service Experts customer service saying I owed nothing and they'd clear it up. And guess what - got another letter from their collection agency. So I filed a second BBB complaint. This time I asked for refund for half of the $138.00 I paid for the service contract (for the service visit they are to make this fall) as well as an end to the collection agency letters and threats. I received a very terse e-mail saying AGAIN that they would "take care of it." They have not refunded the half of the $138.00 I requested. I certainly DON'T plan to ever use them again.
Description of Work: Yearly maintenance contract (1 visit in spring and 1 in fall for $138.00) and one small repair (for $167.00) for total of $305.00

Our airconditioner is super old so we wanted to check into getting a more efficient unit. I contacted Service Experts through the Lennox display at my local Costco. Toby came out within hours of my call and walked around my home with me. He pointed out that two of my ceiling registers were installed so that the air was directed toward the closest wall and that they should be directed outwardly. He also noticed a tear in one of the ducts. He sat with me to find out what we were hoping to achieve with our new unit and even pointed out some ways that we could achieve those improvements without actually buying a new unit, ie. moving our thermostat, redirecting those vents, repairing the hole in the ductwork. In the end, we decided to stick with our current unit for as long as possible because the return on investement (the amount of money we would save each month vs. the amount we would pay for a new unit) would take more than 5 years.
Description of Work: Toby checked out our home, both inside and out, and made suggestions of what we could do with what we have as well as what he suggested we upgrade to in the future. He was very easy to talk to, didn't try to push his product or opinion and was happy to answer the many questions that I had. Although we decided against the purchase, this was time well spent.

We have two separate air conditioning units (one per floor), and our upstairs floor had climbed to 96 degrees. I filled out an online form for an appointment and was surprised to find a same-day slot available. I booked it, but then realized I had never seen any indication of the price for this, so I also called the number and spoke with a rep within a few seconds after pressing 1 for residential. I explained to the rep that I wanted to know the price for a diagnostic visit, and she answered, $49.95. A few hours later the same day, as I was driving home from work, I got a call from a rep saying a technician was on his way. Dave arrived approximately an hour later. He looked at all the internal and external components with my husband, and pointed out two different issues (drainage, and capacitor). He demonstrated the problems, and offered the fix, showing us the parts price. We agreed to go ahead with his proposed repairs, and he immediately got to work replacing parts. He was done within about 45 minutes. He made small talk with our youngest son while he printed out our receipt on the spot, and we had an air conditioned upstairs once again! Thanks, Dave!
Description of Work: New capacitor installed, drainage issue resolved.

They always come when they say. They are very professional. They always call ahead to let me know that they are on the way. They always do a good job. I have had contract with them from several years and they have done a good job for me. I keep signing a new contract with them every year.
Description of Work: I use Calverley Service Experts for heating and air conditioning. I have a maintenance contract with them, which I have maintained from several years with them. They come every three months. Last time they came was on 16th March. The contract costs me $138 for a year. They do a thorough inspection of the heating and cooling system. If there is any additional requirements like fixing and replacement of parts, that’s an additional charge. They come out and change the filter for you. They do the pressure tests and all that stuff.

I will not use this company again because it felt like he was sticking it to me!
Description of Work: AC fan was working but cold air was not coming out. The repair man investigated and found that some type of relay mechanism was shot. He replaced what I later found out to be a $47 part in about 5 minutes and charged me $357! Less than a year later and the problem has happened again. I suspect he gave me a used part.
