We arrived for our scheduled appointment and Marion began the session with a 45 minute tutorial on the entire process of purchasing a home for the first time. He took the time to answer all the questions that we asked. Next we began the conversation of what we were looking for vs. what we could afford. I told Marion I was looking to apply for a VA loan which he said wouldn't be a problem. We spent the next three days looking at houses all over the Fort Worth area, even Weatherford. We pin pointed our choice to two houses and Marion was more than willing to take us back around on the fourth day to both houses (oddly enough one of which he actually designed earlier in his career when he was a architect - he even had the blueprints in his office!). Long story short we decided on the one closer to my new work location (which was not the one he designed but he understood). When we wanted to move forward with financing Marion suggested some folks that he works with all the time - Joanne Tucker and Joe Plagens. I was initially adverse to using his people (kickbacks etc) but I thought I would see what they offered. Honestly I never got the feeling of anything other than an honest business relationship between the three parties. I went with both and my first home purchase went fairly smooth. Joanne processed the VA loan like an expert and did not overly complicate the process. Joe completed an in-depth home inspection and provided a complete summary of his findings, even calling out some structural code violation that the builder essentially ignored. All in all I had a great experience working with Marion and would highly recommend him to other first time buyers in the Fort Worth area, especially if your shopping from a distance like I was. - B. Marion provided a great speech to illustrate what he does, hook, line and sinker. What he does well: patience in finding the right home. What he doesn't do well: negotiate for the buyer to get best possible price and no real assistance in closing. After viewing many homes, I found the right house to buy. As this was my first house purchase, I was looking for a lot of insight as to what questions I should ask and what I can negotiate for. Once I put an offer in on the house, the support was questionable. I had to negotiate with him to negotiate with the seller to reduce the price or fix the issues the inspector found - or I was at risk at losing the house. He was looking for the quick sell to get his quick money and did not have his clients concerns at interest. I would only suggest using Marion if you have experience in buying homes.
Description of Work: Marion is a buyers agent versus a realtor, meaning he is only supposed to represent the buyer in the transaction of buying a house.

We found our home within two weeks thanks to Marion, agreed on a price the same day we made our first offer (Marion stayed until 11 pm to handle the negotiations with the seller's agent), and closed within six weeks. The entire process was so easy, I couldn't believe it. Marion took care of it all. He even went above and beyond -- giving me advice on the renovations I wanted to do, checking in with us prior to closing to ask if we had any questions, and introducing us to a great mortgage and inspection person. Every referral he gave us was excellent as well -- he really does care about his clients and helping them find a great house.
Description of Work: My husband and I just recently got married and started thinking about buying a house, though we really didn't know what we wanted. I emailed and called a few other realtors who did not respond back before I finally came on Angieslist and found Marion. First of all, he emailed me back right away. I'd told him we had a small budget, and he said that was no problem. I'd also told him my husband worked long hours, and he set up a Saturday appointment for us. Starting with our first, no-pressure meeting, he educated us about the entire homebuying process, talked knowledgably about the areas I was most interested in, and worked with us to figure out what we truly wanted in a house. Within a week, we'd met with him several times to look at listings, look at houses in person. I could not believe how available he was to us -- if we wanted to meet the very next day and see 5 houses, he made it all happen. And since he has a background in construction, he knows a ton about structural issues and helped us identify potential problems with any house we looked at. He told us repeatedly he wouldn't let us buy a bad house -- and he meant it! He helped us find the perfect house, that we never would have found on our own.

At my request, Marion used the MLS to find me the prefect property. He helped me look at the comparables and understand pricing, and recomended a really good house inspector for me to hire. The inspector was above average and reasonable. The deal was a bit unusual but Marion kept in contact with everyone until the deal was closed. He met me to be there at closing and I felt better knowing throughout the entire processn I had someone that only represented me, as opposed to representing the seller's interests. I would use their services again.

Marion gave us excellent services when we called him from CA to help us find a house in Fort Worth. We came to TX for 5 days and spent each day with Marion looking at houses 'til we made an offer on one. He then negotiated on our behalf and got us a good deal. He also got the inspection done before we returned to CA.

We had a very good experience with Marion. He was highly approachable and quick to respond. He refunded our deposit promptly.
Description of Work: Was invaluable in helping us find a home. He knew the neighborhoods well, had a good eye for problems with the homes, and basically made us feel that we had someone looking out for our interests. Our $500 deposit was returned after we purchased our home.
