He provided a good estimate and it was great meeting him.
Description of Work: I have a old wood fence with metal poles and many holes. I will need four additional poles to replace the last four wooden post. No gate is needed. It is only one side of the yard. Prefer to pay with credit card.

The small electrical jobs went well. The larger jobs he showed up in the afternoon worked a few hours and left. You never know what day he was going to show up. It took him months and he never finished. Some of the work was good and some of the work was not. The fact that he took $1,800 from me for Windows and never installed them is why I would never recommend him again. Character counts and you don't want someone like that working on your home.
Description of Work: I had Shane Burk do quite a bit of work around my house. When it was short one hour jobs he was very good responsive and got the work done. I then heard him to put new siding on my home and it took him months. He never finished and some of it was crooked. I had him tear down and add a patio and it leaks. But worst of all I paid him to put new windows in my home and he never did the work. He kept over $1,800 of my money that he never paid back.

Shane Burks had completed a couple of handyman jobs for me in the past that were just an hour or two in length and very quick electrical type or HVAC jobs. He completed those jobs well and for a fair price. I called to ask if he knew someone who he would recommend to put siding on a home and he said that he did that kind of work as well and it would just take a couple of weeks. So on October 26, 2015 we wrote up a contract and the price was $3,174 to put LP Smart Siding around the exterior of my home and paint. Shane Burks started the work on my home in October and worked on and off again from November, December and up to January of 2016. Most days he did not show up until after noon or 1:00pm and said he had other jobs to take care of. Some weeks he would not show up at all. The LP Smart Siding for my home was not finished and I have two large areas in the back left with the original wood. The very large front siding panel over my garage was not centered with the lines in the panels. He did paint the siding that he installed but in some places the original siding is showing through where it needs another coat of paint. I talked to him multiple times in the past six months to give him the chance to do the right thing and finish this work as contracted. I also had a covered patio that Shane Burks said would need to come down, so he could replace the exterior wood on the back of the home. He said he would rebuild it for an additional $567 for labor and I purchased the additional materials at Home Depot. That project was finished and looks great, it took about 2 weeks for a 12 x 10 frame with metal cover. While he was building the patio cover, I asked him why it was level and not angled to allow drainage away from the hone and he said it's supposed to be that way. But now when it rains it leaks on the side between my house and the attached patio cover. On November 12th, 2015, I wrote Shane Burks a check for $1812 for 5 windows, a sliding glass door and installation. He said the window installation would take one day and it would take about two weeks to order and get them in. The windows and sliding glass door was never delivered and never installed. After many attempts to get them installed and many broken promises of when they would arrive and be installed. Shane Burks finally sent a text message to me on May 20th he said he would give me my money back and bring it by my office. At this time the money has never been paid back. Repeated phone calls and text messages since then are being ignored. At one time he promised that he would get back on track with the job to finish the LP Smart Siding on the 1st of March, 2016 but he never showed up as promised and never called. As of July 12, 2016, he has not made an effort to finish the LP Smart siding or repay the $1812 I gave him for the windows and sliding glass door that were never delivered. Shane Burks was recommended to me by someone that was a mutual family friend. This friend told me Shane could be trusted and was as good a handyman as he was. That may have been true at that time before my friend passed away. But today because of the stories that he told, the money and time that I have lost, I Would Not Recommend Shane Burks of B Squared Construction.
Description of Work: Original Contract was to Install new 50 year LP Smart Siding on my entire house in place of existing wood, and then caulk and paint for $3174. Including haul off of all construction related debris. He said it would take about a week or two depending on the weather. I paid $1800 upfront for siding materials and supplies and paid draws throughout the process with the final draw paid in full on December 23,2015 before the work was completed so he could get his wife a Christmas present. On November 12th, 2015 Shane Burks said that he could install 5 windows and a new sliding glass door for $1812. He said delivery for those would take about two weeks and installation in one day. So we added it to the contract and I paid that part in full so he could order the windows.

The initial construction went as expected. Shane showed up with his helper and got to work. We had a few set backs with him being busy on other jobs, but I didn't mind since we had other things going on. All was well until he installed the light on the back of the porch. When he drilled into the brick, he cut our alarm wire to our rear windows. We did not immediately notice that the wire had been cut as it was behind the brick. We couldn't get our alarm to set and called Shane. Shane told us to call the alarm company and have them come out when he was around and he would pay for the visit. When the alarm company was able to come around, Shane couldn't be contacted. The alarm professional told us that whoever installed the light cut the wires and we needed to replace them or install multiple new components. We paid for the visit out of pocket. We told Shane what the alarm professional said, and Shane said he would come over and look at it. He came over and said that he'd fix the problem. He gave us two options. One option was to cut a large hole in the wall and replace the wire. The second option was to order remote sensors to put in the window where the wire was cut. We didn't want a large patch in the wall, so we went with option two. Shane said he would order them. Time went by and it was increasingly more difficult to contact Shane. He wouldn't answer calls or text messages. I ran into him at Home Depot and asked about our sensors. He told me that they must have been lost when they shipped over from China. This was odd but I still trusted him. More time went on and he completely started ignoring my wife and I. He actually told my wife that it wasn't his fault that the wires were cut and that we needed to fix the problem ourselves. We ultimately had to pay for a new alarm system and another visit from the alarm company. In the end, Shane became very rude and unresponsive. I would not suggest that anyone conduct business with this man. Shane told us from the beginning that he is "a man of his word" and will do anything to make his customers happy. Be VERY aware with this guy.
Description of Work: The contractor was adding a pergola to the back yard along with an additional light on the patio.
