A&M Construction & Roofing

Contacted Mario through Angie's List and he came the next day to give us an estimate for the job. We decided to go with A & M Construction and Roofing. The crew arrived on time and work began. The job turned out to be move involved than we originally thought. Mario and his crew did a wonderful job at a reasonable price. Mario took and shared many pictures of the damage both before and after the work was done. In addition to the contracted roof repair, he removed an over hanging limb and fixed the damaged turbine at no extra charge. He also did a complete inspection. We highly recommend Mario and A & M Construction and Roofing.

This morning’s roof leak inspection by “A&M Construction & Roofing” “Senior Roof Inspector” (Mario Armendarez) came at 9:30AM rather than our agreed upon 10AM time. (He had called 40 minutes earlier to confirm a 10 to 10:30AM arrival.) When I greeted him at the door he was unhappy that “the homeowner” wasn’t present even though I told him that during our initial phone call. Unfortunately by the time Mario arrived the roof was wet and he didn’t want to go up on it. He did climb into the attic and looked around but said he didn’t see anything that would indicate the source of the leak. So, he went out to his truck to write up an estimate based upon “his experience of repairs for a 2 story house” which he expected to be around $750. When he returned to the house with a job written up on his clip board for $810 including an “insurance fee” and local tax he insisted that I sign his contract and pay him in advance for the work. Although he said he could accept a credit card later over the phone, Mario underscored that it was “company policy” to not schedule the work until they got a signed contract and received payment. At that point he became belligerent again saying that he had five other inspections that day and pointing out how nice he was being for considering squeezing us in to his busy schedule this week. When I said I didn’t feel comfortable sIgning his contract until after I spoke to my daughter, he said it was his company policy to get authorization signatures and payment before leaving the premises after an inspection. When I reiterated that it was my policy to not sign any documents until I discussed it with my daughter, he drew an X through the contract, grabbed his hat, got up from the table to leave and said: If I would not sign his contract immediately I was not serious about getting the work done. On his way to the door I asked him if he was aware that he was not the only company in the roofing business. He replied that he would certainly never do business with me. I replied that I was unhappy with his attitude and aggressiveness so he need not worry about getting future requests. Clearly Mario decided that this was a job he did not want to do. Reflecting on our initial phone call, Mario insisted that the homeowner be present at the time of his inspection. It occurs to me in retrospect that his high pressure sales technique is only effective in person with homeowners who are desperate enough to fall for it.

Mario and his team went above and beyond what they were initially hired to do. They fixed our roof as needed but that didn't completely fix the problem so Mario worked hard to find the problem and did stone repair, insulating, and sheetrock repair. He refused to rest until the problem was completely and permanently fixed. I have complete confidence in his workmanship and commitment.

Oh my goodness! I was very impressed and I'm super picky. I had gone through a couple of bad hail storms and was very worried about my roof. I called Mario and he came out the next morning and climbed up to look at the roof. He did a complete inspection and took pictures of everything to show me so I didn't have to just go on what he told me. it turns out that my roof was fine and didn't need anything done to it. To find such a man of integrity and honesty is a great thing. I will always refer him to everyone!

My roof was looking odd to me so Mario came out that day and climbed up and checked everything out. He took pictures with his phone and showed me just what the problem was, and what needed to be done to fix it properly. No one had ever shown me pictures before. He showed up the next day with his crew and it was quickly repaired. They did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. All I had to do was enjoy my day.

Work was done in a professional manner by experienced roofers and supervised by company project supervisor. The quality of workmanship was excellent and all litter and excess material was removed. Magnetic nail pickup was employed to insure no stray nails remained to puncture a tire.
