Mike called to set up an appointment. He asked me to e-mail him pictures of the damage, which I did. When he arrived, he got to work filling the gouge with wood. Needed to borrow aluminum foil and something else. He suggested that I finish the repair by lightly sanding and applying urethane in a few days. He would arrange for me to get a $50 appearance credit from the insurance company. I inspected his work and commented that I did not think I could finish the job (the gouge was still there, just not as deep). He made an appointment and returned in a week. He worked on it some more, adding more wood and staining again. We made a third appointment and he applied the finish. I don't know how hard it is to repair this type of flooring. Despite his efforts, the final result is not very attractive: a shiny, raised spot where the gouge was. The color matches well but there's no seam where the planks meet. He gave good advice on cleaning the floors.
