Willing to admit I made three mistakes - I hired Rick Hamp for a home we had just bought, as I was leaving town for three weeks in October 2012. Second, I didn't get a written estimate of each project and last mistake was I paid him without the job being completely fininshed in my mind. Had a $12,000 estimate from Milestone for electrical and another $25,000 to spend on selected items on my to do list with "new" home. Rick said he could do everything on the Milestone list, plus my list for $37.000 . . . in the 3 weeks I was out of town, so I could come back and move in. 1st, his people painted the color I chose to go with the new flooring I had picked. Then he told me he could not get the flooring I had picked, so he chose another and sent me a photo of one plank, telling me it would be great. I was understanding that everyone working on our place would be his employee. Upon our return, we found that some of the electrical had not been wired properly, that switches did not work with anything, that kitchen cabinets that were to be turned into drawers were OK, but other cabinets and drawers had nothing done to them, while we were under the impression that that they would be fixed to slide easily, close properly, etd. The flooring Rick chose was OK with the wall color, but not with the tile in the bathrooms, so they had to be replaced later, without protection from the dust, so jackhammering the old tiles put tile dust throughout the house, in ever crevice between the wood, and more. Replacing the tub with a tile shower came out awful. Not only was a lot of grout missing, but Rick used slippery wall tiles on the floor section. Then, when the bathroom floor tile needed to be replace to go with the flooring, the dust got everywhere that there was grout. One month into living here, the drain was rusty. The bathroom vanities were to be 36" high and he ordered 32". He did move one up to 36" but left big holes into the wall around the pipes under the sink. I could go on for pages, but will end with a couple of items below and then attempt to attach a page of photos. The two items that bother the most is the LOUSY QUALITY OF THE PAINT JOB, with paint drips, paint on floors aroung edges and doors, especially in the bathroom where I look at the poor quality every time I sit down. The second is electric: we found electric that wasn't hooked up properly or not at all, so we worry that something might be dangerous in our home. Rick says they did everything on the Milestone list, but we know that is not true. Rick Hamp's solution to us was to tell him what we want done and he will do it. Well, we tried that on the paint that's on tile, dripping, etc. and it didn't get any better (see photos.) As we pointed out to him, except for what is very obvious with the electrical, we don't know what is done or not done in our attic, inside the walls, etc. It should not be up to us to keep calling the electrician who worked for him each time we find there is the wrong power of electricity going to a plug, that a switch doesn't turn anyting on or off, that under counter lights in the kitchen are turned on in the dining room, and on and on. Maybe my biggest mistake was believing that Rick could save money on the electricity over Milestone because Milestone had to pay for all the TV ads. For this I apologize to Milestone Electric!
Description of Work: Represented himself as a contractor, agreeing to do the electrical, painting, turn bath into shower, kitchen drawers, bathroom vanities, sinks, etc., flooring, tile.

They were very punctual and polite. The estimate came in $200 under another bid so we went with Hamp painting. Overall, the experience was okay. Four guys showed up and taped everything off and got to work. Since price was the main issue at the time, I guess we got our money's worth. I still find issues with the paint job - badly painted edges, issues around fixtures, etc. if you need the work done inexpensively, Hamp is definitely cheaper than most places, but be ready to go over your home with a fine tooth comb before you pay.
Description of Work: Rick Hamp's team painted a lot of the interior walls in my house.
