Description of Work: I called for an estimate on granite countertops. Grant and Bryer, the owners, came out that afternoon. I mentioned I had plans for additional kitchen remodeling, removing a small 2.5' x 2' pantry and replacing it with a pocket door. I was supplying the pocket door frame and custom pantry door. Grant stated he would give an estimate on that in addition to re-texturing and painting the kitchen and new tile. I received the granite countertop estimate later that evening. A day or so later, Grant called to set up an appointment to bring the painter to my house to measure. The appointment was set for 1 pm Friday. At 1:45 I assumed no one was coming so I left my home. At 1:56 Grant called and said he was in front of my home. I stated "I thought you cancelled" he replied "why would I cancel, I told you 2. I responded "No, you said 1. I returned home to meet them. Bryer apologized for the mix up, but Grant never mentioned it. During this appointment I asked them to remeasure the countertops because I came up with less sq footage (39) than the quote (47). They remeasured and corrected the amount. I also stated I had purchased the tiles for the backsplash and that I would purchase the paint and the baseboards. This was agreed upon by all parties. I asked Bryer about the cost of installing the backsplash. He replied since I was purchasing the tiles, I would only pay about $5 or so per sq ft. instead of the $35 per sq ft on the estimate because that included the cost of the tiles. Grant stated I would have the estimate later that night. I received the estimates on Sunday. The labor for the backsplash was $15 per sq ft. The estimate for re-texturing and painting was $1350. Labor for installing the pocket door was $1200. The floor tile was reasonable at $9.75 sq ft to take up and replace ceramic tile (They were supplying this tile). I sent Grant an email stating this was more than expected considering I was purchasing a large amount of the materials. I also told him the cost of the backsplash installation was much more that Bryer had stated. Below is his reply - copied from his email: "Backsplash- Our labor rate has always been 15 per square foot for installation, quick set, and grout. This is a industry norm and I assure you IF you can find someone to do it cheaper I'd be surprised if not worried about their workmanship. Kitchen Changes- The labor does seem a bit high but you must understand what all is happening. They are going to have to refloat your wall due to the texture that is currently applied and then texture and paint. New baseboards (you didn't say you were providing them) aren't cheap either and to get all new baseboards installed painted and caulked for 350.00 is a great deal. This is a great price. You should get a few more estimates and then give me a call back but understand that its spring time and things are really picking up. Its going to be hard to schedule less than 2 weeks out after this weekend. " I felt his email was full of attitude. I cancelled the entire job. If Grant has an attitude before the contract, I can't imagine how he will act after he gets the job.

Description of Work: Rick Payne initially met w/ us and explained all of the options that we had w/ our floors. He was very professional and answered all of our questions. Rick and Chris then met w/ us a second time and brought us several samples of the type of flooring we were looking for. We then set a date for a week later which was a surprise to me. I didn't think it would happen that soon. The crew was great and did a great job ripping out the existing flooring on our entire first level. The floor install was just as good. We even ran into some issues and the options were clearly explained to us. The final day there was a lot of trash left by the install crew but I think that was to blame on the particular crew and not Choice. Now our house has a whole new look and feel to it. We've received tons of compliments. Nice job!!
