We where given Adrian's name and company Finish Touch through friends. We met with Mr. Whitaker about the re-construction of our home that had a water line burst. After meeting Mr. Whitaker we decided to contract with him for drywall work, painting, and some tiling. We paid a deposit of 50% ( $5900.00 ) and his men started working. While this work was being started he explained that healso does hardwood floors. His pricing was in line with other quotes we had received and the pictures he showed us of how our floors would look were wonderful. We decided to also award him the flooring contract. We again paid a deposit of 50% ($10,000.00)and his men started the demo of the existing floor. When we got to the point of re-construction on the floors the entire project went south. The subfloor we contracted for was supposed to be 3/4" plywood. What was put down was 19/32", was not even sure if that was close to what was supposed to be there but knew it was not what we agreed upon. I brought the concern to Adrian's attentionand he told me that the wood was thinner but somehow stronger. He also explained that the correct plywood was all warped andthere was no way to get any adequate pieces anywhere we just needed to accept it. I again told him my concerns in the change and ifit was not correct he would need to remove it. They proceeded to install while I looked up information over the next day. That iswhen the actual hardwood flooring arrived. OMG it was TERRIBLE. we were told we would get #2 red oak shown pictures of fishedproducts with long planks hand scrapped, and what arrived was a #3 & #4 red and white oak mix. The pieces were mostly 10"-16"long, splitting, had bark on them, holes through them, and some were even rotting. I told him there was no way that we would acceptthe product provided and to return it and provide the product we were promised. He started saying that it was the only wood to beacquired throughout the metroplex that I again needed to accept it and then started to demand more money. I told him we would notrelease any additional funds until the subfloor was corrected and the hardwood replaced to match what we were sold and contractedfor. He promptly removed all his equipment and left our home. He refused to correct the subfloor wood issues and told us he wouldinstall 850 of 2000 square feet in the hardwood materials we were supposed to have and interlace the inferior product into it. Weagain told him that would not be acceptable and at that point requested a refund. He initially said he would refund all of our moneyby noon that day, but later in the day stated to me that our checks has cleared and he would not be doing any refunds or corrections. At this point Mr. Whitaker has received $15,900.00 from us and we have 2 rooms tiled (we provided the tile ) the laundry and powderbath, rough sheetrock on the ceiling in the kitchen, the wrong plywood subfloor, and rough demoed floors upstairs. My wife and Iare devastated as this company has taken all we had in savings and left us, in our opinion, with an utterly destroyed home. The worst thing is I still feel like they would have done a great job with the sheetrock and painting portion. I wish Adrian was honestwhen discussing the hardwood floors and if they could not install them properly at least let us know and returned our money beforeproceeding so that we could afford to pay another contractor to do it right. I would have to say, never allow this company to perform work in your home simply based upon their business ethics and performance. We are now having to pay other companies to remove their products and re-do all of the work. This will cost us more that the original bids and Finishing Touch has walked away with near $16,000 and refused to do anything. I even asked for an 80% refund so that they could cover some of their labor costs and materials that were used. I was told to take them to court if I wanted to see anything. Now we have to pay a lawyer, even more expenses, to try and hopefully re-coup any of our money. Adrian Whitaker and Finishing Touch should be ashamed.

Mr. Whitaker responded to our call promptly. He came and talked to us and took measurements of our kitchen. Later he returned with drawings of how our kitchen could be remodeled to give us more work space and easier access to storage space in our cabinets. We decided to add a small room to our kitchen for a pantry and a place to move our refrigerator thus giving us more work space in our kitchen. Once the plans were accepted, Mr. Whitaker and his crew came in and started the demo and foundation for the add-on room. In the kitchen area, our first complication was the microwave oven would not fit in the area that was designated for it, so we had to come up with another plan for it. It appeared that the measurements taken and the drawings might not have matched up as well as intended. One major concern that we had in our kitchen was an under-the-counter cabinet that was nearly impossible to get into unless you were on your hands and knees. After moving the refrigerator, we wanted this cabinet front enlarged so a lazy susan could be put in it for better use and easy access. When we arrived home, the cabinet was enlarged but a cheap, plastic, small lazy susan was inside the cabinet area. The lazy susan was approximately one-third of the space of he inside of the cabinet which left the rest of the space wide open and wasted. We were disappointed and concerned that Mr. Whitaker would choose such an item. When we contacted him about the lazy susan, he came over immediately and said it would be replaced with a newly built, wooden lazy susan to fit the cabinet, and it was replaced with a beautiful one. His men did a wonderful job with the floor, countertops, and backsplash. They built an island that is movable, however the wheels supporting it were not adequate and it was difficult to move. After pointing this out to Mr. Whitaker, he took our advice and replaced the wheels with much sturdier wheels. The door to the deck was not hung correctly because the storm door would not close. Mr. Whitaker had his man work on this and now it closes but there is an open gap on the top of the door so when it is open, bugs can fly in or rain can get in. Mr. Whitaker did not install a gutter to the addition. He had promised to return and do that but it is six months later and we have not heard anything from him. After completing the kitchen and addition, his men started replacing the wood planks on the deck with new wood and covering the sides of the deck with lattice. The first two days, all his men worked on the deck, but after that only one of his men worked on this task. This man arrived early in the morning and worked until nine o'clock at night. One evening the other men arrived to help him even though they had been working all day at another location. It has been six months and the lattice is coming off or breaking off. We had never seen such thin lattice ever. We have another structure in our yard with lattice around it which looks great and it has been on since we moved into this house eleven years ago. In May, we heard scratching noises above us in the kitchen. Exterminators came out and found a gaping hole about the size of a softball in the overhang area of the roof of the new addition. Since Mr. Whitaker's men did not close up the overhang completely, rats were entering through this hole into our attic. We have had our attic treated for rodents and the hole closed up.
