Quoted for a 3 ton unit but come for installation is a 2.5 ton unit. Luckily found it before the installation bye checking the model #. Cancelled the service due to the unprofessional service.

1. First visit the technitians were in a hurry and just checked the freon levels on the outdoor condenser units..... never went in the attic to see how the coil and air handlers were performing. Bottom line--inadequate and incomplete trouble shooting 2. One week later on a call back--ditto. 3. One week later on the 3rd call back we finally coached them to go in the attic and low and behold the main cold air supply duct had come disconnected and we were cooling the attic for 3 weeks with the poor unit running 24 hours per day to try to meet what the thermostat was commanding. 4. Next day--attic air handler and coil died-- turned into an iceberg (froze over)--then melted overpowering the emergency drip pans and leaking through the ceiling leaving a 8 SF stain which now requires paint and 5 star says--not their problem to correct 5. 4th call back said we needed a mother board for the outdoor condenser.....and they took a week to get it. Note: Part was for a new Trane system and was on the shelf at the local Trane parts house but 5 star, instead, took a week to get "one from out of state" which was likely a smoke screen for a "we forgot to order it". Note: the mother board was a warranty part (i.e. free to 5 star) had they simply gone to the local supplier 6. 5th call back...."Mother board doesn't work...no power...we need to run a new wire and replace the drip pan on the upstairs unit"....and we dod not run wires or do drip pans.... the other guys do 7. 6th call back....got the wire run...but what we really need is a new coil and associated drip pan too..... we'll be back tomorrow 8. Tomorrow comes....no show...no response from 5 star to calls 9. 7th call back-- the "right guys" show up, did a good job and got us running..... 10. Scoreboard-- 25 days from start to finish; 15 days with NO A/C in the main part of the house in the summer and with kids; 10 days with poor A/C in the main part of the house; 7 trips to the house by 5 star; 2 complete "no show" days; 5 calls to the Manager/Owner Steve Builis with a request for a call back; 0 returned calls by Steve; $300 in cosmetic damage to our ceiling (repaint); two more calls to Steve with request for call back to discuss his responsibility for ceiling damage--NO response; and one very unhappy spouse. 11. I'll let you decide if you want to use 5 Star..... you may want to recommend them to people you really don't like but I would not subject your family to their service. Their are some good people working there.... but on the whole--they are a broken company and their owner is non-responsive.

The system is quite old and it took three tries by Five Star to find the right motor and bracket (they were misled by one company in Garland as to parts availability). They stuck with it and were able to get the right motor and bracket. Almost 5 months later, the fan is working very efficiently and, in comparison to the old one, much quieter. In fact, it is distributing adequate heat to parts of the house that was definitely lacking in heating and cooling. I had considered redoing the duct work but the new fan, installed properly, saved me from that expense. I also called the company back in October to service the heating unit - cost was $59. Teo, the serviceman, did a complete, thorough job, and alleviated a lot of my fears about the safety of our aging unit. (Service Experts has tried to sell me a new one each time they were out here over the last several years). Will use Five Star again.
Description of Work: The blower motor for our heating/AC system went out. Five Star was sent out by our warranty company AHS.

Jose did a great job. When we incorrectly thought something had gone wrong later, he came by promptly and showed us exactly what we needed to see to clear up the issue. We received good service and will use this company again.

Numerous HVAC companies have tried to get my downstairs A/C to cool properly, but the tech at Five Star is the only one who ID'ed the problem correctly. The other companies were over charging the freon, thus causing adverse side-effects with the outside unit. (head pressure too high, compressor straining etc) Everyone else said the coil needed replacing (even though it was recently replaced). The Five Star tech evacuated the system & re-charged to proper freon levels & it now works correctly. It's been a month and a half and it's still blowing as cold as it was the day he left. It was a big relief during the last run of 100+ deg days to not have wife & kids complaining the house is too hot. I didn't get the tech's name, but he knows what he is talking about, Thanks!!
Description of Work: Corrected cooling issue with downstairs A/C unit.

Highlights of this company as follows : Non Communicative, Unreliable, Unprofessional, Non Empathetic to customer's situation, Rude, Horrible Service. If you choose to work with them god speed to you.
Description of Work: This is one of the worst customer experiences i have had. I used my home home warranty company to locate a HVAC repair service and Five Star was the only option I was given. I had them come out for an estimate and never heard back. They advised me I would hear back from my home warranty company. I did hear back from the warranty company only to be told that my "extra" charges were $750.00. I tried calling Five Star to speak with someone regarding the charges because I did not want to start the work if I did not understand the "extra required charges". In calling the company I spoke with Dede, who right off back dismissed my questions only to say to me She did not know anything and only have a file with my address on it and I may get a call back in a day or so. This made me livid, summer in TX and an HVAC co that may or may not call you with details on what is going on with your repair. I told them that was an unacceptable answer and I needed a committed call back time.. well that just resulted in being hung up on which in turn caused me to call my home warranty company to cancel the request as well and the home warranty services but thats another review... Highlights of this company as follows : Non Communicative, Unreliable, Unprofessional, Non Empathetic to customer's situation, Rude, Horrible Service. If you choose to work with them god speed to you.
