Response from The Gazebo & Pergola Factory
Hello, Jim Klein from THE GAZEBO FACTORY here. I don't get on here much, and don't do a lot with Angie's list, but I wanted to respond to Mr. [Member Name Removed] comments and then some others I see here (I've never seen)...including some F's. We never worked for Mr. [Member Name Removed]. He must have us mistaken with someone else, possibly The Pergola Factory, like some of these other people. I don't know if The Pergola Factory is trying to throw a wrench in our works, like they do their own...WE ARE NOT AFFILIATED IN ANY WAY! We make our installation dates and take very very good care of our customers. We have a 5 star rating on Google and it's going to stay that way! I see here we have a C in punctuality...and I can't remember the last time we were late on a delivery. Some thing is wrong here! #Fakenews! Here is where The Gazebo Factory is coming from...after nearly 30 years in business and producing thousands of structures and installing them not only here in North Texas, but all over the country, our goal is not to figure out how to build your structure. Frankly, we are bored with that. We know how to do that. We also recognize the fact that there are hundreds of companies on line and contractors out there that can do most of what we do. For the most part, there is nothing that we offer that isn't offered somewhere else. So it all comes down to CUSTOMER SERVICE! It's the logistics of showing up on time and simply DOING WHAT WE SAY WE ARE GOING TO DO! We treat our customers like rock stars and in return, they treat us like rock stars! There are some contractors (and I don't like being grouped in, but what can you do?) out there that haven't figured that out. Which is why there is Angie's list in the first place. As far as the people saying we don't call back...it's like this. We have 5 different product lines and the combinations of shapes and sizes are endless. At Sonic, there is a sign that says "we make 837,914 different drinks.".....and you still can't get a margarita. We are like Sonic. The Gazebo Factory is just that. A factory. A factory that brings it's products to the masses. We can't do that and be the "If you can dream it, we can build it" people. It just doesn't work like that. So, if you left a message "I need a 3 story dog house"...it is possible your call didn't get returned. We are the Best!, but still not perfect. Thank you and I hope this helps clear the air. Thank you, Jim Klein

Back in November, one of our pergolas sustained some storm damage and was tilting. I called several companies to see about repairing or replacing it starting mid November until January. I couldn't get companies to call me back until I had placed several calls to them. Then they would never showed up for their appointment! I found The Gazebo Factory here on Angie's List a week or so ago and tried calling them. James called me back the next day and after I explained our problem he asked me to text him some pictures as well so he could get an idea of how bad it was. He then made an appointment to come and see it. He showed up for the appointment just as scheduled. After examining the pergola he suggested that it could be repaired rather than replaced. This would save us thousands. I was so appreciative of his honesty. While he was here I asked him about recovering another pergola over our outdoor kitchen as well. He said he had a job that would be finishing in two days and would get back to me with a quote. 2 days later he called with a rough estimate and said they could start on Friday. He showed up Friday with a crew just as planned. They worked hard, were quiet and very courteous. By 4pm they had finished everything! We are so thrilled and just wish we had found Jim's company earlier.
Description of Work: Fixed tilting pergola by pulling it straight and adding two large support beams. Pulled out rotted wood and replaced it with new wood. Stained all new pieces to match. Removed old rain cover on another pergola and replaced with a new cover.

Jim and his crew did a great job. The pavillion exceeded our expectations and the workmaship was very professional. Just about everyone that has seen the pavillion has asked for Jim's number. We have talked to Jim about building a few other things for us in the future. I would highly recommend him and his crew. Jim is a Twisted Sister fan, so use that to your advaantage! Maybe a small discount..... :-)

Description of Work: We asked to build a cedar shed, 16x8, caba~a style, with two windows, two skylights, and one door. |The project was completed on time, as scheduled. |The company exhibited good customer service -phone and mail-, with flexible practices to accommodate minor last minute changes at no extra charge. After the project was completed, I wanted to make some extra changes, which the company outsourced. They were done to satisfaction. No complains.

We have the advantage of living near to Jim's base. He came to our house, viewed the site, and based on our input designed a beautiful gazebo. He then scheduled the dates for installation and while the dates slipped by a couple of days he kept us informed as to the progress. This gazebo was not a and quot;cookie cutterand quot;; it is well designed and constructed. He was able to pre-wire it for electrical connections. We asked for a metal roof as we are in the country and the gazebo is near the metal barns, so we wanted the ambiance to continue. I specified the quality of the metal and Jim was able to deliver to my satisfaction. He and his crew were great and we wholeheartedly recommend him.
Description of Work: Designed and built a gazebo. Was open to our specific wants and wishes.

It went great. Jim Klein and his crew showed up when the said they would and installed a pavilion and pergola without any problems at all. We couldn't be happier with the end product. There were no hidden fees or charges - it cost exactly what Jim's estimate said it would cost. Jim even through in a few extras for free. We liked the pergola that was attached to one side of the pavilion so much that we had Jim come back the next week and install another pergola on the other end of the pavilion. I highly recommend Jim and his company.

WE WERE INTERESTED IN ADDING A PERGOLA AND DECK AROUND A NEWLY INSTALLED SPA. I FOUND THE GAZEBO FACTORY ON THE INTERNET. THEY HAVE A VERY NICE WEBSITE WITH MANY PICTURES AND I DECIDED TO GIVE THEM A CALL. THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY, JIM KLEIN, ANSWERED THE PHONE AND ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS. HE WAS EXTREMELY KNOWELDGEABLE AND HELPFUL, AND I LIKE HIM IMMEDIATELY. WE ARRANGED TO HAVE A PERGOLA BUILT. I WAS ACTUALLY LOOKING FOR A PERGOLA KIT THAT WE WOULD BUILD OURSELVES, BUT JIM INFORMED ME THAT THEY DON'T DO KITS, AND THE INSTALLATION WAS INCLUDED IN THE COST. WE LIVE IN SILOAM SPRINGS, ARKANSAS, 289 MILES FROM HIS BUSINESS, AND BECAUSE WE LIVED WITHIN A 300 MILE RADIUS, THERE WAS NO CHARGE FOR INSTALLATION! WHAT A GREAT DEAL! WE HAD COMPLETE CONTROL OVER WHAT WE WANTED DONE - IT WAS A COMPLETELY CUSTOM JOB. WE TOLD HIM WHAT SIZE, WHAT KIND OF WOOD, WHAT COLOR STAIN, AND THE END CUTS THAT WE WANTED. JIM DREW UP THE PLANS AND E-MAILED THEM TO ME FOR APPROVAL. I CALLED HIM WITH QUESTIONS SEVERAL TIMES, AND EACH TIME, HE ALWAYS ANSWERED THE PHONE HIMSELF! THAT SOLD ME ON USING HIS SERVICE! HE CAME TO ARKANSAS TO BUILD THE PERGOLA ON A THURSDAY AFTERNOON. HE BROUGHT A CREW OF 3 WITH HIM AND THESE GENTLEMAN WERE ALSO GREAT! JIM AND HIS CREW WERE PROFESSIONAL, POLITE, AND LEFT NO TRACE OF ANY CONTRUCTION WHEN THEY LEFT. THEY PICKED UP ROCKS AFTER THEY DUG THE FOOTING FOR THE POSTS, THREW THEM OUT IN THE PASTURE, AND AND LEFT EVERYTHING IMMACULATE. WE WERE ASTOUNDED! THIS CREW WAS LIKE A FINELY TUNED MACHINE - EACH MEMBER HAD A JOB AND DID IT WELL. THEY SHOWED UP ON THE DAY THEY PROMISED, AND HAD THE JOB COMPLETED BY NOON THE NEXT DAY. THEY WERE READY TO WORK AT 7:30 A.M. THE DAY AFTER THEY ARRIVED, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS RAINING. THE CONDITIONS WERE NOT VERY GOOD BUT IT DIDN'T EVEN PHASE THEM. THE FINISHED PRODUCT GREATLY EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS - IT IS TRULY BEAUTIFUL. THE MATERIALS USED WERE TOP NOTCH AND THE WORKMANSHIP ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE GAZEBO TO EVERYONE - YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. WE DID NOT REALIZE THAT JIM BUILT DECKS WHEN WE HIRED HIM TO DO THE PERGOLA, OR WE WOULD HAVE HAD HIM BUILD THE DECK AT THE SAME TIME. BUT WE WERE SO IMPRESSED WITH HIS WORK THAT WE CALLED HIM BACK THE FOLLOWING WEEK AND HAD HIM DRAW UP PLANS FOR A DECK. THE DECK WAS COMPLETED AROUND THE 15TH OF OCTOBER AND IS EQUALLY AS BEAUTIFUL. AGAIN, THERE WAS NO CHARGE FOR THE INSTALLATION. WE JUST TOLD HIM WHAT WE WANTED, HE DREW UP THE PLANS, AND E-MAILED THEM BACK TO ME. AGAIN, THE DECK EXPERIENCE WAS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST, THANK YOU JIM AND CREW FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!

Construction was postponed 3 times and started 8 days later than planned. Not due to weather. The deck was to be built on the first day giving the concrete time to set, then completed on the second day. They didn't arrive on the first day until very late at night and decided they could get it finished in one day. The skirting was set directly on the ground. Post holes were concreted half way and never filled back in. Extra dirt was left piled up under decking boards. The deck staining was done about a foot in until the gazebo was completed. Some of the side panels are out of plumb. The "door" was made out of one of the side panels. It measured 51". It was so large it made you enter on the side of the step. Roofing had exposed staples and plywood near the top of the first section. A majority of the spindles were not flush with the top and bottom railing. Where the joist went into the panels, left a large triangle shaped gap. The stain on the upper portion was scrapped and peeling in many areas. No pre-drilling, so there was many splits at the end of boards and slip through screws coming out of boards. The owner came ill-prepared, with not all the hardware, paint and labor. He thought he could drive into the next larger city and pickup illegal alien help. Never could find any help. My husband and brother-in-law had to help get the second section of roof up. Couldn't finish on the first day. I asked that he put roofing tar on the exposed staples. Some he did, many he didn't. The touch up staining was done directly over the peeling without sanding or scraping. They didn't use a primer, there is a lot of bleed through of knots and the green treating. They couldn't finish on the second day either. He said he wouldn't take the final payment until he came back to finish, which would be in a couple of days. Or, I finished it myself, with him paying me to do so. I decided I paid him to do the job and I really didn't want to finish it. He called back a couple of days later asking for part of the final payment and said he would come back the following Monday and finish on Tuesday. He showed up late Monday afternoon had phone problems and left soon after. He did arrive early on Tuesday. The deck stain was applied on top of sand, over-lapped stained in spots and is splashed on the white. Some places, wood still shows. When he fixed the exposed roof decking he didn't bother to tuck the shingle under the ridge caps. The gazebo is held to the deck with 8 wood screws. He told me verbally he would use hurricane clips. My husband and I used 24 tubes of caulk to fill in gaps and seams. I framed in a new door and cut down the large one. It now looks like a real screen door. My husband will correct the roofing. And now I plan on Kilzing and painting it all over again. I may have to sand and re-stain the deck. The gazebo will need to bolted to the deck for stability. When I complained of these things he just kept repeating he had built over 1200 of these.
Description of Work: Construct and erect a 12' gazebo with deck, double roof and cupola. Extras included staining deck, painting upper portion white & screening.
