Arbors and Patios

Mr. Carrasco came out to my house to assess the arbor and he spoke with over the phone on his thoughts. He mentioned that the concrete pilings in which the supports were grounded had generally failed, but that he could bring the arbor back into alignment with significant reinforcement. At first, I was a bit skeptical of the estimate that Mr. Carrasco gave me as I assumed that the repair would be relatively simple. However, I went with Arbors and Patios because of the good reviews and that I really didn't want the arbor to collapse while awaiting another estimate. Boy am I glad I did. He brought a crew of three out the next day and they did a spectacular job!! They spent three long hours bringing the arbor into square, using huge lagbolts to drive additional supports into legs and canopy. They also color matched the supports to the rest of the arbor and cut them in a decorative manner to fit in with the rest of the structure. These were delighters that I didn't even expect from his estimate. The end result was a very happy wife and an appreciation for a contractor that went out of their way to do things right at every step. The arbor is as solid as a rock. Bottom line, at the point that I need a new arbor... I'm calling Mr. Carrasco

I purchased two Big Deals for landscape services which had to be used on the same day. The company called one day and asked to come the next so I had to ask to be given more advanced notice since I had to purchase several plants and supplies. I would have liked to talk to someone in person and go over what services I wanted but was told the Big Deal did not allow for a planning session. The crew was helpful but didn't exactly do as I asked. I wanted compost added to the flower beds and the soil tilled. The prep work to the flower beds was a lot less than what I expected. The crew did go over and above what was allowed on the Big Deal by switching out landscape lights and laying stone around the border of flower beds.

Luis returned our call the same day and set up an appointment to give an estimate the same week. We got 2 other estimates and Luis gave us an extra 10 sq foot of new patio for the same price as the other guys estimated without it. Luis spent a lot of time with us going over our plan and making suggestions of his own whichnwere very helpful. We discussed details including dimensions, colors, stamp designs, stains, etc. He always was quick to respond to any questions I had (especially by email.). The guys started work even sooner than we expected (a few days after we approved his estimate.). The work was completed in about 2 weeks as estimated (couple of days of rain slowed the progress.). The team was hard working, respectful of us and our space and stayed past 6:00 often to wrap up the days work. Everything Luis promised happened and the communication between he and he team was excellent as well. There were no major surprises. Clean up was great and Luis came to see the finished job and made a few adjustments at the end to make sure everything was perfect! He even gave us a bigger arbor for the same price as the original estimate because he thought it worked better with the space and design as it developed!! I would highly recommend them to anyone. Luis is extremely fair, professional and wants to make sure his customer is happy.

I live in a neighborhood that has a lot of oak trees, the shade in the summer is great but raking all the leaves in the fall and spring not so great. This year I decided to use a service but was unfamiliar with a reliable company. Found Arbors and Patios on Angie’s List and decided to try them out. The yard was leave free in one day. It would have taken me a two to three weekends to complete. They made sure the gate was securely closed when they left and everything bagged and bundled at the street. Will recommend their lawn services to family and friends. Thanks, Luis and crew.

He didn't stand by the quoted price in the Big Deal of $699. He told me he'd have to charge extra even though that's not what the deal said. He said he'd charge me more for removing my patio than he would for my driveway.

The came late 1/2 hr. and left 15 mins. early. They cleaned everything up and put the bags in front for pickup. I wish I had brought another coupon to get everything I needed done.

Someone contacted me promptly to set up a time for the estimate. Luis showed up and he took measurements. We were on the phone and he provided me with an estimate on the spot. He was very accommodating and professional. We ended up using another company because their prices were better than what Luis had to offer.

Luis visited site several times to take pictures and to show various samples. His crew was prompt and courteous. Total project tripled the size of the patio. It took exactly 60 days to complete. Just be prepared for the mess of construction and post construction cleanup. I definitely would recommend.

We got off to a slow start due to weather but the crews were always respectful of our privacy and worked when they could. We added additional decking and they sealed it with a beautiful complimenting color. The pergola has a clear roof to make it mostly rain proof. The covered patio has a traditional peaked roof with a tongue and groove ceiling. We have two fans, three sconce lights, additional cooking lights, and the basics to create a new living area. The covered area is approximately 22 by 12 feet and extends across the edge of my pool for a resort effect. The structure is all cedar and has beautiful 8 by 8 support beams. I was very satisfied with the work and professionalism.

The crew from Arbors and Patios showed up and went right to work - mowing the front and back yards, removing weeds from my flower bed and bushes and small trees in my backyard. Terrific Job!!! Luis also went on my roof to secure a fan unit. He also took measurements for new flooring and new fencing. I look forward to doing more business with Luis and Arbors and Patios!!!

These folks had a great deal for landscaping 2 guys for 4 hours or 1 guy for 8. We took 2 guys for 4 hours and had them dig out a pond. They were very polite and did a great job being careful to dig around the hidden pipes even I didn't know existed! I've actually signed up again because when you find people you can count on you don't loose them!

The landscapers accomplished a lot within the 8 hours they were here. They completed everything they were asked to complete. And, when they ran out of things to do before the 8 hours were up, they asked for more work to be able to give me the full 4 hours apiece (total 8). They didn't have their own mower, edger or weedwhacker so I couldn't have them do this. They didn't take the debris with them but planned to put it in front of the house in black bags until I told them I would get a ticket from the city if they did that and had them put the bags in the forested part of my property out of site. I would have them perform any basic yard maintenance work. I don't think I would have them perform anything high level, though. There was some difficulty with communication, as I don't speak Spanish.

Luis arrived on time and spent about 1.5 hours with me. He was very knowledgeable and helpful, not only with describing the work they do but also providing design ideas. He provided a very detailed bid in a timely manner. I ended up going with another provider, strictly due to a deep discount if I signed a contract within 3 days. Since Luis was so helpful, I let him know we were going with someone else due to price. After a couple of discussions, I understood that I wasn't really comparing apples with apples. For example, the size of the wood for the pergola was very different and Luis uses large lag screws ($15 each) while others use nails. Even though I went with another provider, Luis said I could contact him at anytime (and I did) if I had concerns. Our project is still underway, but I know I would have had more confidence in the final product had I gone with Luis.

The owner was very professional upon the first meeting and offered great ideas to improve curb appeal. I had already purchased the Angie's List Deal so knew I was going to do at least one project with the company. I decided to tackle a large mound of ivy that surrounded one of our large trees up front. The desired task was communicated prior to the aplpointment, but I felt the crew came unprepared and not quite understanding the full scope of the project. They seemed like very nice gentlemen, but they did not work as efficiently as I expected, especially since I was paying by the hour. NOTE: I would not pay by the hour in the future, but by job/project only. Once I supplied them with a wheel barrel, one man shoveled the dirt while the other stood by. When the wheel barrel was full, the other guy would roll it back and dump it where I asked, while the guy who had been shoveling waited for his return. I watched this for awhile then went out and asked if the other man needed a shovel. It was only then that the second guy went to his truck and started helping to dig up the dirt. Ultimately, I was quite disappointed. Yes, it is hard work to shovel, but at the same time, the scope of the project should have been clearly communicated to the crew. Additionally, I asked if they thought the task could be completed within the 4 hour (2 man) time frame. They thought it could. I expressed to the owner that the expectations for all parties should be clearly understood before work commences. I will not be purchasing additional man hours as I did not feel this and quot;Dealand quot; was worth it. Another project quoted was new front steps with stamped concrete. I asked a landscape architect friend's wife about this and she asked if they were planning on creating a new foundation for the steps (i.e. tearing the old steps out and laying new re-bar for the new steps). I confirmed that the company did not intend to do that. This apparently is a problem as shifts in the foundation would cause the and quot;newand quot; steps, which would just be concrete poured over the exisiting and re-shaped, to crack greatly. I really hate to leave a negative review but wish I had done more due diligence on this company first. They may excel in arbors and patios, but landscaping is not their strong suit.

Although we got off to a little delayed start, Manuel and Javier did an amazing job cleaning up the requested areas of our yard. They were courteous and professional and paid close attention to the detail areas we asked them to work on. We would definitely recommend them for the type of yard clean-up we had them do.

Luis did a very good job. Although we had some miscommunication at first, everything worked out well. Everything was done by email and because of some timing issues, when they sent an email saying they were coming the next day, I had unexpectedly been admitted to the hospital. I had wanted to be there when they showed up so I could explain how I wanted their time to be spent. But since they showed up and no one answered the door, they saw that the front flower beds needed a lot of work and they cleaned them up very nicely. When I got out the the hospital almost a week later, I had not been out front to realize they had been there, so when I called Luis to ask when I could schedule them to come out, he explained what happened and said I should go see what they had done. I was a little upset because I hadn't been there to have them do the work in the back and that was important to me. Luis understood and very generously agreed to send out a crew that same day to take care of the other issues that I wanted done at no extra charge. They did a great job, trees looked great and all old stone work was gone. And even more surprising was that they had brought both my garbage and recycling bins from the front of the house all the way up my very long driveway to the back, which is a chore I dread every week. I was quite pleasantly surprised at the courteousness of that gesture. I would definitely hire Luis and his company again, when and if I need any additional work done.

I purchased the and quot;Landscaper for a dayand quot; big deal. Scheduling was completed via email but it did take a bit of correspondence to get my appointment scheduled. They did however arrive when promised and with 3 men. This meant my 8 hours for 1 landscaper was reduced to 2 hours and 40 minutes. I had my list of projects ready and they completed them all in the time alloted. I had asked to get a bid for a new fence as well as a bid to fix some loose stones on my raised plant beds in the backyard...The crew chief who showed up said the owner would get back to me to make the bids. It's now 3 weeks later and I haven't heard a word. Either business is that good that they don't need a ~$3000 job or they were that overwhelmed by the response to their big deal . The truck that arrived with the crew was unmarked as belonging to Arbors and Patios. Also no invoice was provided. The crew chief presented me with a copy of my email correspondence to sign off on. Shortly thereafter, he made me an offer to install a foundation drip line as a and quot;side joband quot; not thru Arbors and Patios. This made me wonder if the crew that showed up were actually Arbor and Patio employees or a sub-contracted crew. That sort of thing happens regularly in the world of construction however if I were having more extensive work done (like a fence or patio work) I would want to be sure that my contractor (Arbors and Patios) was managing things properly. Update: The owner contacted me this morning...but not to arrange a bid for my fence. He did apologize about his employee (not a contractor) looking to make money on the side. It's somewhat unprofessional but it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I honestly don't care if they were employees or not - a lot of businesses use subcontractors. That alone wouldn't mean his business doesn't do quality work. I was happy with the work they did. I mentioned it in my review because not everyone might think to ask that question - one that should be asked if you are going to spend hard earned money. He kept discussing it though I made it clear it was a non-issue. He claimed the crew chief never told him he was supposed to do a fence bid. That may very well be true but during our scheduling correspondence I asked three times if they were going to do a fence bid while here to do my work. Maybe the person handling the email didn't tell him? And what about no invoice? Everything I heard sounded like an excuse. Either way, it seems to me that there may be a problem with the processes and communication in his company. I stand by my C rating for professionalism and responsiveness...if for no other reason then I think it's bad form to call a client and argue with her about the rating you deserve.

Overall, it was great and I would highly recommend them and use their services again.

We were very pleased with their service from start to finish. The estimate was promptly provided and the work was completed quickly and with quality work.

I selected this company thinking they did landscaping. Hard scape and patio work is their main focus so the work I needed done was not in that scope. However the owner, Luis, called to see what I needed and we discussed the situation Although he was looking for other type work he sent out a crew as soon as the weather permitted and trimmed bushes and thoroughly cleaned out my flower beds. His crew went above and beyond and were very thorough. If we had not had our arbor just built I would have given him that opportunity. If they do their main work like they responded to my needs I would have used them.

I had an area in my backyard that had flagstone and a big ole tree. The tree had made the flagstone shift so I could not longer use it as a patio. So they had to come in and remove the tree. They had to grind it down, it was a pretty good sized tree. Then lay the patio and put the pergola up. They have a UV cover that is not glass, it's fiberglass of some sort I'm sure. It goes over the top of the pergola to keep the sun and quite a bit of rain out. They were very professional. They always kept me in loop as to what was going on. The job was excellently done. It was overall one of those good experiences. For what I saw them do in the middle of the summer when it was so hot down here, they just did a spectacular job. I love it, it has become another room for me. I dealt primarily with the owner and he was very responsive.

Luis was one of three quotes we took for this project and he was the most professional and had the best price. He came out on a Saturday to quote the patio, sent the quote via email a few days later and had his crew out the next week. It only took one week to be completed. The quality, professionalism and service can't be beat. We would definitely use Luis again and highly recommend his work!

Mr. Carrasco and his men did a great job extending our existing, unfinished patio and finishing the whole patio with Oklahoma stone. Looks great! Very professional and easy to work with.
