Arbors and Patios

Very prompt and friendly. All i got was an estimate however. I purchased this "deal" expecting drawn up plans for a backyard renovation as was mentioned in the description. I could have called any company and got a free estimate as opposed to wasting my 50 dollars. And the estimate was way over priced as well. 17k for some concrete and covered patio? Live and learn.

I called the number of the Angie's List's companies for retaining walls and things and has a number of them out there. I didn't receive bids back from a number of them. I can't even recall who they were, they just all weren't that responsive but Luis, the owner/operator of Arbors and Patios was very responsive, knowledgeable and professional. I like his ideas. I was looking for something more contemporary than the traditional retaining wall and he had a great idea for it so what they built was exactly what I was hoping. They really didn't cost any more than what other are quoting but I think the result looks a whole lot better. I will definitely will use them again.

They sent two guys and they were fast! They were able to finish everything I was really wanting to get done. The only complaint I have is that they were a half hour late and I had to call the company to find out what was going on. They arrived 45 minutes late, but they stayed late and worked the full 8 man hours. I'm lucky that I work from home or else that may have been a bigger inconvenience. I wish they would have called to let me know what was going on though.

Stellar team who did everything we asked and much faster than we even imagined. Complete transformation of our front and back yards! I did have to call to ask if they were on their way, since the start time had passed and we did not hear from them. We live near 635 and it was because of construction, but a head's up would have helped us plan out morning.

Luis and team were excellent to deal with. He assisted withproviding us with a multiple design options and helping define the final design. With a project this size you expect problems and we did have a few. However, Luis was extremely helpful working through them and resolving those issues. The contractors working on site were courteous and efficient.

This was a miserable experience. I purchased the Big Deal for $279 on December 12, 2013 including and quot;8 hours of landscaping services... one man for 8 hours or two men for 4 hoursand quot;. I received an email from the provider four days later through the Angie's List system that called me by the wrong name and declared their availability in November 2013 - a month prior to me purchasing the deal. Now, I understand everyone makes mistakes, but I emailed back immediately and told them I was confused by their email . I never heard back. Two days later, I called and spoke with Luis who said, and quot;wow. that's really unusual. I will have her call you now and schedule itand quot;. Okay, sounds good - except again two days later I still had not heard back. I called again and Luis scheduled it for the next day for arrival between 8:30 and 9:00am. Unfortunately, at 9:15, they still had not arrived. I called Luis again and he said they were and quot;around the cornerand quot;. I called again at 9:32 and was told they were and quot;1 minute awayand quot;. They finally arrived at 9:40. I explained what I wanted done and was told I had 4 hours (that mean that I had until 1:40pm. While they did so some of what I asked, they left a lot undone. I returned to the house at 1:20 and the men were long gone. Much of what I asked to be done was not completed. Leaves were still strewn throughout the lawn - though they did get up about 75% of them. I called asking where they were and was told that and quot;they had completed their 4 hoursand quot;. I was argued with I said I still had time on the clock and was not even given the opportunity to increase the time if I wanted to. I waited for a while, then left. I had a message on my office phone (I have no idea how they got that number, likely they googled me), which said he tried to call my number but the phone was not working - the phone he we had been communicating on for 4 days - but that they were and quot;knocking on my door now and no one was home, but they had finished their hours anywayand quot;. The communication was awful. The work was sub par and I was cheated out of the time I had paid for. There seems to be no recourse except this review. I would not do business with them again.

It went good for the most part. Only issues were that the color of the concrete staining did not come out as we had discussed, and they showed up late the day the concrete was poured so they had to rush and missed one of the LED lights that was supposed to be installed in concrete.

Basic shrub trimming. |Did not come with proper tools. |Had to leave for almost an hour to buy a hedge trimmer. |Attempted to allow for the time lost, but while mutually agreed on, did not complete.

Dug out several bushes and a bed of iris tubers. Cleared debris and trimmed tree branches. Turned over flower bed and planted pansies using compost and mulch. Left everything picked up and tidy. Very nice and very professional.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it went very well. We had paid 279 Dollars for the big deal, and they didn't charge us more. The price was good for what they did, and everything turned out very good. They were very quick to respond.

The first impression we had from speaking with Luis was that he is passionate about his craft. At the initial meeting with him he spent nearly 2 hours listening to what we envisioned. He also offered several great design suggestions we hadn't thought of. Those of his suggestions we chose to incorporate were great! Getting in touch with Luis was never a problem and he always responded quickly (via email or telephone). During the pre-construction process our HOA was less than easy to deal with! This caused a delay in our timetable. However, Luis was always prompt in getting to us all of the additional information, schematics, etc the HOA required. When our desires for the project proved to be bigger than our budget Luis was quick to offer cost effective compromises. With regard to the project, my husband & I tell friends/family "Luis gave us everything we wanted, that we could afford". We have zero regrets with the compromises we made. His worker always finished for the day no later than 6 pm ( VERY much appreciated.). We did have a miscommunication regarding some project items we had discussed. However, Luis quickly had the errors corrected within a couple of day. The project finished exactly within the time frame Luis quoted. At the end of the project Luis's crew removed ALL dirt, broken concrete pieces, trash, and leveled out areas of the lawn when need. The crew even removed some flagstones and old patio furniture we did not want...at no extra charge. We highly recommend Arbors & Patios. We plan on using them when we replace our property fence in the Spring.

I contacted Arbors and Patios to schedule an appointment for an estimate to re-do our patio in our backyard. The gentleman I spoke with, Luis, told me to email his assistant to set up a time. I did so, but had to email again when there was no response to my email the day before the (supposed) appointment. The appointment was set for 1 pm. On Saturday, at about 1:05 pm, I called Luis to make sure he was finding our house all right. He first said, and quot;Lake Dallas, right?and quot; I told him no, we were located in Lake Highlands. He said he was on 35 and there was a big accident. I told him that 35 was nowhere near our home and that he was quite far away, and I did not understand why he was so far away after our appointment was scheduled to begin. He then began lecturing me that they and quot;alwaysand quot; tell people to give him a 30 minute window, although the email from his assistant said nothing of the sort. After his condescending lecture and multiple excuses, I stopped him. There are plenty of other providers. We will go with someone else. If a contractor gives you a bad vibe from the very beginning, it's best to go with your gut. I'd just advise other customers to make sure your business is courted a bit better than ours was.

Arbors and patios had a promotion on angies list for 100 sq. Feet of concrete. We had been thinking of extending our patio, so I thought it was a great time to go ahead and do it. I knew we were going to need. more than 100 sq. Feet so I called Luis and asked about the cost of the extra. He offered to do it for the cost of what i had paid for the first coupon. This was about $200 cheaper than anyone else. He arranged to have one of his guys come out and talk to us and outline where the patio would go. He came and was very helpful because he showed us pictures of other patios they had done and that helped us decide to do rounded edges. The next two days they came to complete the work. They took their time and didn't cut corners to complete the work. It ended up looking great and I love our new patio. The only thing I am a little dissatisfied with is the fact that in order to match the existing patio and for everything to be level they had to order another yard of concrete which was $125. I understand this, and was fine paying it, it would just have been nice to know about the extra cost beforehand. That being said it was still a little cheaper than the other quotes, and it lookes great.

This project came out great, though there was a miscommunication at the beginning....workers started on project without any notice....the day and time was not agreed upon following acceptance of the contract. The owner seemed very knowledgeable and gave us much information on how to maintain the walkway. Highly Recommended!

I called for the guy to show up. He never called back. I called three times after that and eventually he said that he'd come by in two weeks. No calls after that either. I would rather not give business to companies that have no problem collecting deposits but no sense of responsibility to actually earn their money.

Arbors and Patios was good. They were on time and got everything done withing the time frame.

Arbors and Patios produced a quality product on a wide variety of projects. The finished results exceeded expectations. The only area of improvement would come with communications, but that is typical of any multifaceted and weather dependent job.

The company sent 2 men for 4 hours. Communication was a little difficult as their English was limited and I speak no Spanish. They cleaned out the flower beds, planted some plants I already had, dug up some small crepe myrtles that were diseased, and spread mulch for me. They were very hard workers and did a good job.

I contacted Arbors and Patios about doing some hardscape work in our back yard after reading such great reviews about them on Angie's List. Mere minutes after I submitted an online request to schedule an appointment for an estimate, I received a reply back from them, and Luis (the owner) was out at our house 48 hours later. He took his time explaining all the various options for our yard and we eventually decided on a custom stamped concrete patio. We were originally scheduled to have our project started two weeks out from the date we told him that we wanted to move forward with the patio installation, but as luck would have it, they had a last minute cancellation and were able to start our project right away. Once the crew showed up, they discovered that the downspout drainage work that had just been completed by another company was done incorrectly, so they basically had to relocate most of the PVC pipes that had been laid in the ground. Even with that unexpected hiccup, the Arbors and Patio crew still finished the entire project in 2 1/2 days. The crew worked really fast, they were very professional, helpful and we finally have a GORGEOUS patio to hang out on in our back yard. The patio installation was just the first phase of our outdoor living space project, and we will most definitely be using Luis and his team again for the other work that we're planning on doing in the near future.

We originally planned on putting in a flagstone sidewalk. We had used Arbor and Patios to put in a patio a few years ago. When Luis, the owner arrived to make an estimate, he proposed that we put in the textured concrete sidewalk. He recommended the change because it would better match our exterior than the flagstone and it provided better value at less cost. We did obtain two other quotes for flagstone and they were much more expensive. Luis' team started the project less than a week after we signed the contract, just as Luis said they would. They completed the project within a week; even though the concrete was delayed a few days due to bad weather. His team did a great job cleaning up after themselves when they were through. Overall, we are very pleased with the final solution. The sidewalk looks great and blends in much better with the front of our house than flagstone would have. Luis was very professional throughout the whole project. If I had a question or a concern, I was able to reach him directly by cell phone. He always addressed my questions and concerns in less than 24 hours. This was the second time I have used Arbors and Patios and I would recommend them to anyone.

2 workers arrived on time. I had provided a list ahead of time by email of what I needed done. They arrived with the list in hand and we went over it so they understood more clearly once they saw the areas of the tasks. Then they got right to work. It didn't take any prompting from me to keep them working. They were extremely pleasant and reliable to work with, eager to do the best job that they could. Because my list ran a little long, they worked extra hard to complete it even though they could have just not cared that much and counted down the time until they were to leave. I have had problems in the past in getting good reliable help for my yard and many workers had a major attitude of not wanting to really work all that hard. Not these guys, they wanted to make sure I was completely satisfied and didn't show any issues with not wanting to do anything on my list. There wasn't anything that I found unsatisfactory. They cleaned up thoroughly after everything they did. I will definitely call them back again.

The success of our project - and we love it! - is a testament to Luis' patience, creativity, craftsmanship and professionalism. From the very beginning I could tell Luis was exactly the type of person I wanted to work with. He listens extremely well - he wanted to know what we were looking for and what our goals were. To complicate this, we weren't exactly sure what we wanted at first so there was an extensive education process that Luis patiently led us through to arrive at the design we ultimately chose. Luis offered suggestions but never told us what to do and this allowed us to trust him a great deal and really made working with him a pleasure. It is clear that Luis is passionate about building outdoor living spaces and he understands the importance of quality and details. There are no shortcuts taken in quality, design or workmanship. An example of this is the very high degree of shade our arbor produces - probably 60-70% at noon. I see arbors all the time that block half the sunlight of ours and I know those areas get hot in the Texas summer. Overall, the project took about two weeks to demo the old deck, prepare the area for concrete, pour/stamp the concrete, build the arbor, stain the arbor and finish out the details of lighting, fan and concrete seal. The result is that our backyard is truly transformed and we have a space that we can use year round! It's great for hosting parties and we eat outside almost every night. We talked to two other options when we were considering our options and Luis was by far the best to work with and most able to use his creativity to make our budget go the farthest. His prices were very good and the value we received was excellent. Thank you to Luis and his team at Arbors and Patios.

They did what they were supposed to do and were within budget. They did a fine job! They actually were able to solve another problem I had while they were at my house too.

What he came up with was amazing and exceeded my expectations. He really listened to what I wanted and gave me options to fit in my budget.

It was very difficult to try to get in touch with the owner of the store. He did not show up to either of the appointments he set up. When we finally got someone to show up it was raining so they could not come out that day and I was very upset. Then the owner was able to get some people out that day to help in the rain. The overall outcome was good, but hard to get there. The workers that came were A+.
