Arbors and Patios

On 1/15/14 I purchased a deal from Arbors and Patios for $49, and 8 days later was contacted by the office manager to set up a time to meet at my home. The proposed time 2 weeks later did not work for me, so I explained why and offered several options that would work. I did not hear back until a week past the initially proposed time - I had to reach out again to get them to respond. We set a date and time for a week later. That day came and went and the contractor did not show up at the time we agreed to. They later said he arrived 2 hours later but we were not home - that's because at that point we had to pick up my son and needed to leave. I've attempted to reach Arbors and Patios several times since this missed appointment and at one point they suggested a day and time that I again reminded the office manager would not work with our schedules and since then I've had no contact. I would appreciate a refund of this deal as even if they did come out to provide a quote as the deal stated, I would not trust them to complete work or communicate with me. Came out Awesome! there is one area that did not come out the same as the rest, but overall they did a fabulous job. Guys were friendly and cleaned up well everyday they came out. Was willing to work with us with colors and get it right. Got a good price for the amount of concrete and work done. Would hire again.

Luis provided estimate the same day, work done within the week, fitting us into his buzzy schedule. Offered options to fit budget. Cleaned up promptly. I plan to use him again.

They sent 3-4 people out to do the job. They got the job done in about 3 hours. The foreman was good.

Due to rain, had to reschedule a few times but did so with little problem.

Luis and his team were absolutely fantastic. So professional, easy to work with. Fast, efficient, and quality workmanship. I contacted Luis, he came out to discuss our plans, give me an estimate, and within a week, we had his team out building our arbor. They cleaned up meticulously, everyday, worked extremely hard, start to finish. It took about 3-4 days for the whole construction, and Luis made it so we could have our Arbor for Memorial Day weekend. It is 2 years later, and arbor looks as if it was built last weekend. Couldn't be happier! Would definitely recommend and use Luis and his team again.

Overall, it was good. I got an estimate, but I have changed my mind and not install a pergola at this time. So, no work was done after I got the estimate.

He pointed out the deal was only for one side of the fence, a detail I had missed in the description. I was glad he did that.

Luis seemed to be a nice guy, but his guys did not show up at the time that they were scheduled from 8 am to 12 pm on May 5, 2014, so he had to come out and do the measurements himself at 2 pm that afternoon. I didn't realize that the deal was for only one side of the fence as my fence is only 58 feet long and with an 8-foot fence I was allowed 125 lineal feet of fence washing and sealing for the deal. Therefore, I thought that I would be able to get both sides done, which would only come to 116 lineal feet, still under the 125. However, Luis was adamant about sticking to the fine print of one side of the panel as he and quot;would only get a percentage of the money from the dealand quot; and and quot;money has to be made somewhere.and quot; He quoted me $250 to do the other side of the fence in addition to the $249 that I had already paid for the Big Deal. Now, what sense does that make? $249 for up to 125 lineal feet for one side (which I would have only been using 58 lineal feet) and $250 for 58 lineal feet on the other side. Plus, what good is getting one side done and not the other. He claimed that Angie's List was to blame as they wrote the deal and he couldn't do both sides for the deal. This was not true. We re-scheduled at that point, as I wanted to discuss this with Angie's List and had to trim bushes on the and quot;otherand quot; side. All of the representatives at Angie's List understood my point of view and thought that it was both fair and worth reaching out to the provider on my behalf to give him the opportunity to decide to perform the work on both sides for the Big Deal price. The Ecommerce supervisor reached out to Luis and he did not return her call as he claimed that he never received a voicemail from her. When I gave him her direct number via phone and a forwarded email from her with her contact information, he then claimed that her number didn't work for him. So instead of working with her, he went to his Angie's List account manager who wrote the deal in an effort to support not doing the work because of the and quot;one side of paneland quot; stipulation. Luis claimed that Angie's List was to blame for the guidelines and that he would be willing to do whatever Angie's List told him to do, but actually had the ultimate decision to provide the services requested. My request was not ridiculous nor would it have cost him anymore than if I had him wash and seal a 116-foot-long fence on one side. The materials and labor would be the same. Luis is just out to make money. I was actually going to use him on a fencing project in the fall so that I could start gardening next spring. I guess I will have to find someone else that is about satisfying his/her customers and not just his/her bank account. He told me not to give him a bad rating because of the lateness, and I informed him that I know what it's like to work for ratings as my business also thrives on such, but this rating is due to my overall experience with Arbors and Patios lateness, customer service, and using Angie's List as a scapegoat to make additional money when the decision was ultimately his. May 28, 2014 - Response to Provider: Luis...it is not above and beyond if you did not return the call that Angie's List made to you until two days later. Also, you only called because I told you I didn't see the point of you waiting until the next morning to leave a message when you could leave one then. You kept claiming that the number did not work, even when it was provided via the signature within Elizabeth's email. And let's not forget the fact that I had to call you multiple times and message you via Angie's List because your team didn't show up on time initially! Aside from me and quot;understandingand quot; the big deal coupon or not, not showing up on time is not the way you satisfy any customer or generate new business. Your assistant or whoever was messaging via Angie's List also seemed to be out of the loop on things and it just doesn't seem like you run a very tight ship. I suggest fixing the leaks in your boat before you think about servicing anymore fences. But thank you for not denying that you said that and quot;money has to be made somewhereand quot; and the fact that you gave me a brief explanation as to the fact the you only get a small percentage of the money from the Big Deal, which isn't much. Not very professional... Additionally, you didn't request the refund...I did, and Angie's List has all the message traffic and notes to prove everything that I am saying is true.

It didn't turned out so well. When he submitted the design it was with the lesser product, I felt like I had to go out and source my own product. After I approved the design, I sent him an email that said, "please provide timeline and pricing" to do the work and I have not yet get anything from him. He came out, we talked about the design. We sat down and talked about what product to use. He wanted use siemens stones in 12x12 that was not the design I wanted. I wanted to use like 18x12 stones or 24x12 stones. He just kept kinda going back to the 12x12 which was not I wanted. I sourced out and found locally because he kept on talking about the price and I said," I understand the price, however I wanted to be able to compare the difference in price between what's you're suggesting and what I'm conceptually thinking I want". I found a blue stone locally and it wasn't that great of a difference between the simens paper and the blue stones. I told him to go ahead with the blue stone with the essential design that we had agreed upon. I just need the follow through.

I purchased a and quot;Big Dealand quot; for an outdoor living space evaluation with plan. My wife and I were flexible with our time, so we decided to wait a while to schedule, especially considering how many people purchased the Big Deal like we had. We decided on Feb 14th and Mr. Carrasco sent an email appointment reminder to confirm. On the day of the meeting, Mr. Carrasco called and said he was on his way but would be late. An hour later, he arrived and we discussed his thoughts for our backyard and we shared some inspirational photos we had found online. It is evident that Mr. Carrasco has a passion for what he does. You can tell by the way he got excited and began to detail his vision with us in the backyard. We were able to get a feel for the different options and visualize how our ho-hum backyard could become a great outdoor living space! We did not feel rushed by Mr. Carrasco at any point in our evaluation. He took his time answering questions and listening to our concerns and was very nice and personable. We were happy that many of our our ideas aligned with his concepts. Inside, we reviewed some of his previous work and also product brochures to consider for our plan. When he left, Mr. Carrasco mentioned that he was going to send the plan via email soon and also include an itemized list/estimate with the respective unit costs or cost per square foot per line item I had requested. I was a little disappointed with everything that followed our consultation. Perhaps my expectations were high, considering the and quot;dealand quot; was for a comprehensive plan that was worth $750.00. I expected a very detailed plan of our backyard space, probably rendered or with sketched perspectives. The plan that we received was one sheet with simple line diagrams. Some of the items were half drawn and a few of the text boxes describing the items were incomplete. I did not receive the itemized list and estimate I had requested with the plan. I replied asking for the missing items and received an email from Mr. Carrasco that he would resend but to check my Junk mail. A week later, I still did not receive anything or have it waiting in my Junk folder. I sent another email and heard back from Mr. Carrasco that he would send soon as he could since he was out of the country. Now, months later, I still have not received the estimate from Arbors and Patios. I thought that Mr. Carrasco was very talented and wish our experience would have been better. We were happy with the design consultation, but the problems I encountered with scheduling, calling for questions and email communication were not ideal. I would like to thank him for his time and expertise and wish him the best of luck!

The service provider never contacted me.

I bought the and quot;evaluation and plan for outdoor living packageand quot; for $49. I was contacted by Mirna via the Angie's email portal to schedule an appt but Luis didn't come as scheduled. I logged into Angie's and saw an email from Mirna saying that Luis received my email too late and couldn't fit it into his schedule. It would have been nice if they called to let me know. We rescheduled and it went smoothly the second time. However, I didn't received the drawings for about 3 weeks (Luis promised 1 week). He quoted me $3300 for flower bed, $3000 for stamped concrete patio and $6000 for pergola. The deal stated that I could take $500 off any project regardless of size so I asked Luis whether I could put the $500 toward the flower bed if I were to break the project into 2 parts. He said he could only gave me $100 off. I'm not sure if that was fair. Anyhow, I didn't use them for any part of the project since their price is a lot higher than the competitors.

Overall, it went pretty well. He was very detailed in the measurements and in how he communicated. However, they needed the survey of our land to finish the project.

Luis Carrasco came out and gave an estimate in the beginning of April 2014. He was late and his office was unresponsive, but when he finally showed up, he was very attentive and informative, answering all my questions. Once we collected all our quotes and decided on his company, he was very flexible and quick, which was a huge bonus! At first, our quote was to pave our small outdoor atrium area and create a drainage solution, but during the initial leveling, his team actually found an existing drain! They spent a large part of time clearing the drain of years of soil and debris and making sure it worked before continuing with the project. This created a delay and changed the layout (instead of having the bricks slope away from the house, they now sloped towards the drain, and pushed the project back a full day, which affected other projects his company was working on. But his team stayed the course and finished this project within two days. My cost did not change, which was very nice. We are extremely pleased with the result. His team did take long lunches, but they worked very, very hard while they were here and took no breaks. They were friendly and courteous, very careful with my home and cleaned up everything when they left. They even taught me how to say "Beautiful Job" in Spanish, "Bonita Trabajo!" I would definitely use this company again and will recommend them to anyone who needs a paving project, large or small!!!

I called to request an appointment for an estimate to remodel the front and back yard; i.e., fence, rock retaining wall, fill dirt, sod, sprinkler system, grind tree stumps, remove shrubs, and build rock planters. Luis Carrasco came and took measurements and offered suggestions for the job. We have not heard from him again. We have seen this type of poor communication and responsiveness fairly frequently in the reviews for these types of contractors. This is our home, the largest single investment (financial and personal) we will make in our lives. It's scary to think how we might be treated if we have to chase them down... to pay them thousands of dollars... to provide a service that has such a significant impact on this investment. We gave him a D overall because, at least, he showed up for the appointment.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It turned out fine except there is a low spot in the middle that forms a pond when it rains. It is a 20x20 stamped concrete patio and I asked them to make sure it was level but they didn't listen very well because the center of it pools water. Other than that they did a great job on it. They were very efficient and I was happy with the whole work until I found out that it wasn't level. It looks great except when it rains. I don't know if I would use them again.

They worked hard and efficiently. Moved all debris to the alley, and assured me it would be picked up (it wasn't). I had to lug it all to the front where trucks could actually fit to pick it up.

I purchased the Big Deal to obtain a plan for an outdoor living space including 2D computer generated images. I set up a time to meet with the provider. They did not come to the appointment. I called after 20 minutes and we rescheduled to another day as they were running behind and had not notified me. They were on time when we rescheduled. We went over possible plans and I was provided helpful ideas and input, but I never received any drawings or images which I had paid for as part of the deal.

Luis is very professional and knowledgeable.? Any issue that arrised, he addressed immediately. It was a very good experience working with Luis and would use his services again.

The project was finished on time and budget. Luis and his team has done a great job and the finished outdoor kitchen looks spectacular. He and his team were very flexible with the design and allowed for multiple changes to get it right.

Luis was very quick to respond to my request for an estimate. We had a wood patio that we had to tear out due to foundation issues and we needed a new patio. Luis came over and gave me his ideas for a new concrete patio. He was very professional and gave me great ideas for the patio. We ended up going with stamped/stained concrete. It looks wonderful and we absolutely love it!! They were also able to start the very next day. We would use them again, we are very happy. Thank you!!

Luis and his team were very friendly and proficient throughout the project. Luis was the first contractor I spoke to about my project. I spoke to 10 different contractors just to get a feel of prices and skill. I narrowed down to two contractors and I decided to go with Arbors and Patios. Luis pretty much game me the all of the ideas to complete the patio. i.e. patio shape, size and color. I am very happy with the patio and I can't wait to get to start adding more to it. Next phase of my patio project is to cover the patio and Luis will be the first person I call when I am ready.

Arbors and Patios was very prompt in returning my request for a bid. They explained the full project and provided a great amount of detail that others didn't.

Mr. Carrasco was very easy to work with. He made great suggestions and delivered on everything he detailed. His staff was very courteous and hard working. Completed project sooner than it was promised. I would recommend Arbors and Patios to anyone with an outdoor project.
