Description of Work: Didn't use them (yet) but was very pleased with the long conversation they had to answer my questions about restoration of old iron and the types of work they did including staircases. They were extremely helpful and obviously very knowledgable about their craft.

From start to finish the project went smoothly. I contacted the company and they sent out a representative the next day to evaluate my property and to discuss options to consider. The estimated cost was lower than previous bids I had received from other companies. The gate was designed and constructed exactly how I wanted it and was done in under two weeks. The finished product was beautiful. The installation crew worked really hard and seemed eager to make sure that I was happy with my gate. I would not hesitate to use this company again in the future.
Description of Work: Designed and installed a wrought iron driveway gate including an electric gate opener.

The scope of the job was to bring a new exterior metal staircase, that was improperly built by another contractor, to code - correct the height of the guard rails, add handrails, concrete landing, etc...I signed the contract and submitted the required 1/2 up front payment ($3,935.00) on 10/17/12. The contract stated that the work would be completed within three to four weeks of acceptance. They cashed the check on 10/22/12. As of January 21, 2013, the work has not been completed or even started. I made calls to the business on 11/26/12, 12/27/12 and 1/18/13. These calls resulted in multiple excuses. Each time I was assured the work would be done and quot;this week, and quot; and quot;next week, and quot; or and quot;we will be out today and have it finished by Monday.and quot; I have been more than patient with them. They are runnung out the clock on my building permit. Do - look for another company. I thought this was a reputable company and after dealing with the fist contractor that botched the job to begin with, I thought I was making better decision. Don't - pay these people a penny until you are sure the work has started and you see that they have a vested interest in completing the work. Update: After posting this on Angie's list, I filed a complaint against the company with the BBB. The next day, I was contacted by the owner who was very apologetic. They began the work the next day and were done within a week. The work passed inspection by the city. They do good work but I doubt I will ever use them again. If you do, at the first sign of trouble, bypass your salesman/project manager and go straight to the owner. If that doesn't work, file a complaint with the BBB.
Description of Work: I paid for services - they didn't complete or start the work.

Response from Aaron Architectural Iron Works
I am the owner spoken of in this review. We did "adopt" this project to correct things that didn't pass code. There were grey areas on what exactly might or might not pass code and I told [member name removed] to please give me the inspectors # and I'd call and meet with him to make sure we could pacify the city and end the troubles she was having. I don't recall about the time frame issues, but know that there were most likely more circumstances than us just ignoring [member name removed]. I personally protect our A+ rating we've carried for years with the BBB and will go to all lengths to do so because we do have a good reputation(maybe 5 complaints in approx 30 years). I did all I could to please her and was really surprised to read this review. We did go above and beyond to get the items on this 100 year old building where it should be and the inspector spoke of the incredible job we'd done. I do sincerely apologize that we caused anyone ill feelings toward our company. We do probably 600 jobs a year or more with an average size of $7000.00 to $10,000.00 per job and have done so since 1985, creating custom products from raw material and making them accommodate our customers needs and I guess will miss the mark now and then. The final deal will be them getting what they paid for(or more) and making sure that they are satisifed. I apologize to you, [member name removed], that you have a bad taste in your mouth after dealing with our company. You'd given me a totally different opinion when we met on sight. Again, my sincere apologies, Todd Brock

Description of Work: We were looking to fence in our property in Fort Worth to fufil the following objectives; create a safe run for our dogs, secure our vehicles, operate a gate automatically, and create an open environment to our elderly neighbor. Aaron's met all of our obectives and perofrmed on schedule and budget. Although we have now moved, we still keep in touch with our neighbor, who has now turned 100, and know that our aesthetic improvement to our home helped improve our property and neighborhood. Also, Aarons customized the gate to accomidate a budget actuator that we purchased on the internet. No problem.

Their service was excellent..We had to replace our front door and side lite....after looking for over a year we chose to go with Aaron Iron works. Excellent choice! They worked with us to get the best door within our price range, they also worked with us to take care of the aesthetic touches that we wanted. The door is beautiful and now I have two side lites. There were a couple of small things that needed some extra care and they were quick to respond.

The fence and gate add to the aesthetics of our 1920's tutor while adding security to our vehicles and dogs. From memory the job went very well with no complications. They custom mounted our mail order gate actuator for us and mounted a solar panel no extra charge. When the job was nearly complete they painted over welds and scratches with Rustolium spray paint, which didn't add much confidence but looked nice for a while. Five years later, the paint is faded and the iron is rusting through. I remember them telling us that the paint was guaranteed (I want to say lifetime, but memory not that good). But instead of calling them out (I envisioned cans of spray paint with no prep work) we have begun repainting ourselves using... Rustolium (brushed on). Also, I recommend metal finials over plastic.

Their prices were comparable to other providers. On the sales side everything was great. The salesman was very helpful in helping me design the fence The quality of the construction of the fence was a "B", but the installation and the installation crew would get a "C". We had some issues with the installation of our fence. We had the fence installed in Aug. '07. Not only was the installation not completed as I requested, but my husband called twice to talk to the operations manager, but they blew us off. We haven't heard from them since. A couple of my neighbors have asked me for a reference for this company and I will not recommend them.

They completed the fence in two days and the fence looks good overall, however they forgot to arch the gates and the fence needs to be repainted as the paint is chipped off in many areas especially on the rails. This was disappointing as I was told by the sales rep that one of the ways they stand out from their competition is the painting processes that they use. The biggest disappointment is the communication. The representative did not call back in a timely manner when contacted. When the team finished the work, the lead worker came to the door and tried to collect the remaining payment and I said we wanted to look at the fence first and to have the sales representative call me. I had to make another call the next week and he finally called back the next day. Also, they charged my credit card for the final payment before they made sure I was satisfied. They are giving me a $200 credit for the missing arches on the gate and they are supposed to send someone to paint.

This was a small job that I ordered in March of 2006. At the time I placed the order, they told me it would take 3 to 4 weeks to fabricate and install, because of a backlog caused by Hurricane Katrina. By June, when it still wasn't installed, I was getting very impatient with the delays and threatening to go to the BBB. They finally came by and installed the railing in mid-June while I was out of town. They didn't install the railing I selected (though what they put in was OK), and the workmanship wasn't very good -- shoddy welds, scratched paintwork, cheap plastic caps that weren't secured in place. The other reviews on this site suggest this is a good vendor, and I hate to rate them down. I guess I was just unlucky. I paid top dollar for railing I hoped would last many years. I don't think this will.

[member name removed], I vividly remember your railing and went to look at it and called you two or three times to discuss and never got a callback. I was told by my guy you were upset that you paid too much.

Sales representative arrived at appointed time, was courteous and very professional. Measured, took photos, sketched what finished work would look like, and prepared contract on the spot. Actual install date was about 2 weeks later than expected most likely due to rain and weather conditions during January. Work crew arrived on date scheduled but 6 hours later than expected. The 3 man crew was efficient and highly skilled. They discovered a measurement problem but when they returned to finish the job the next morning, they had the correct curved panel with them. I had some concerns about the way the panels were sitting on the slope of the ground and Miguel, the crew leader, came up with a creative and satisfactory solution. I am extremely pleased with the final product.

The railing is beautiful, it really enhances the design of the house. I've been very happy with their work.
Description of Work: They've done 3 jobs for me. They put in a fence with a gate in my side yard. They also put in a railing around the front porch on the stairs. They put ornamental iron trim for the front posts across the front of the house, about 40 Ft long.
