The Angie's list deal was for a bathroom exhaust fan replacement. I called and they gave me a comparable deal on putting in a fan where none existed. Freddy was on time, efficient, and thorough. He explained an addition to the quote and let me decide. He told me about additional specials before he left.
Description of Work: Removed bathroom light and replaced with exhaust fan light combo. All work done from inside bathroom. Very impressive. Everything as promised.

I at first left a message and a man called me back the following morning and left a message saying he would be interested in helping with our electrical needs. I returned his call within roughly 20 minutes, received voicemail and left a message with my schedule that day and when I would be available to discuss a time. No return call that day. The next day, I called again and received voicemail and actually left another message because we need an electrician! Plus, we had used this company a few years ago and I had no problems with them, well never again. What a terrible disappointment.
Description of Work: I called the company requesting an electrician for a veriety of jobs we needed done at our house.

They came on time and performed the work very promptly. When they left me with the manual for the landscape lights I realized that they had not installed the light sensors that were supposed to be there. These sensors allow the lights to come on at dusk. After I called them, they came by and installed the sensors. The lanscape lights stopped working after a few weeks. When I called them, they sent someone who said that the bulbs had blown and that he could replace them for a fee. I wasn't at home and told my wife to not have him replace them. I called them up to ask how low voltage bulbs could blow in a few weeks with being used only 4 hours a day. The person I spoke to told me that he'd call back in late May but no one has yet called me. I got an electrician to come out (for $60) to check the bulbs and not one of them has blown a fuse. Clearly this company either installed a defective sets of lights or their technicians don't know how to install them.I've contacted them again and would like to pursue an amicable resolution before going the legal route. Update on 07/04/2012 ------------------------- The person who installed my system was out of town when I reported the problem to the company. When he came back he returned my call and came and fixed the issue. The lights are all on for now. He assured me that they guarantee their work and if anything went wrong they would take care of it.
Description of Work: They installed 2 circuits for low voltage landscape lighting (~ $1200/circuit) and installed spotlights in my living room (for ~ $400).

Fast, easy and affordable. They apologized for the wording on the ad but still performed the work at a great discount!
Description of Work: The coupon was for home surge protection for $175. The coupon does not state that it is per panel. When the technician came out, we thought we were good to go. Then the tech explained that even though it says home and doesn't state per panel, we would have to pay for the additional panel. They offered to do the additional panel at a great discount and I was very happy with the service and the quality of the solution. We have had lightning damage previously to a big screen and this whole house grounding will still cost substantially less than repair cost!

I called Peerless in the morning and they arrived in the afternoon. They were prompt, reviewed the problem, and explained what was happening. They were very professional.
Description of Work: I had an issue with two outside lights located on one side of the house, and also an outlet in the garage. James came by in the afternoon, and found that the problem with the lights were due to the bulbs. It was embarrssing! James indicated he had seen this before, and said it happens often. He also took a look at the outlet in the garage, and he fixed it! I was very pleased with his service, and I would use them again.

Personable tech. I literally bought it on Tuesday night, called Wednesday morning to redeem my coupon, and by 1pm Thursday, my fan was installed. Nothing but compliments from me for that. On my own note. I watched him do it just to make sure that I wasn't feeling ripped off because I always do that. There were a TON of separate parts in the box and I could just tell by watching him that it would've taken me HOURS to do the same thing. In the end, I only lost the time of 1 hour and the cost of the Angie's Big Deal and we're done. Great job, Peerless!
Description of Work: I bought a ceiling fan at Costco for my home office (Hunter 20593). I bought the Angie's List Big Deal to have Peerless install the fan. The builders indicated that the box was already rated for a ceiling fan and Peerless confirmed. The electrician opened the box and took care of everything from there. No extra charges as the height was only 10' from the ground. The rep installed it without the manual as though he'd done it 100 times. The work was barely an hour from, "Hi, how're you?" to "Done." Everything works great. No additional charges. He rang my doorbell at noon and was out by 1.

The downstairs lights and outlets did not have electricity. After reviewing Angie's list it seemed like Peerless might be a good bet. I called Monday morning and a couple of electricians in 2 trucks met me at the house the next day. They found the problem in the breaker box where a wire was inexplicably removed from a circuit and capped off thereby denying power to the downstairs. The entire time spent amounted to perhaps 30 minutes. The technicians billed me for an amount that I believed was excessive and on receiving this feedback Reed (the company owner) contacted me right away and sent a refund for most of the original charge. I was pleased with the resolution of the electrical problem and even more with the resolution of the customer satisfaction issue.

I had an appointment the next day after I called. Freddy phoned me en route and was on time, courteous and professional. He wore booties in the house, which I appreciated. The issue was resolved in less than 90 minutes.
Description of Work: These guys are thorough, professional, prompt, courteous and expensive. The cost was $348 to change a wall socket. Admittedly, it's been years since I've used an electrician in Dallas and perhaps this is reasonable. I will say that they're absolutely good at what they do.

See above. I called a friend who recommended Metroplex Electrical Services which I have since submitted as a recommendation to Angie's list. Yes, the hanging bar can be purchased at Home Depot--they have bins full of them in all sizes. Yes, the junction box could be purchased at Home Depot. As a matter of fact, there was a junction box in the ceiling. Metroplex recommended that it be replaced as it was old and badly installed (as in DIY work). The electricians went to Home Depot, purchased the needed items, and installed the chandelier in short order. They did not charge me extra for the Home Depot trip or for the items purchased. The price was the same they had quoted on arrival. Now, I am stuck with a $99 Angie's List big deal for which I have no use.
Description of Work: Purchase Angie's List Big Deal for installation of one ceiling fan or light fixture for $99.00 on/about 4/1/2012. Admittedly, I did not see down in the fine print that it did not apply to chandeliers. I called Peerless and made an appt. for installation of a brass chandelier that I had purchased at an estate sale. I called them back when I realized my mistake about the exclusion; however, Peerless agreed to install the chandelier for the coupon since there was already a lighting fixture installed in the dining room. When the electricians arrived, they informed me that there would be extra charges because there was no "hanging bar" on the chandelier and there was no junction box (I think that is the correct term)installed in the ceiling. I asked if those parts could be obtained at Home Depot which is a little over a mile from my house. The electrician would not answer directly, but his demeanor indicated that the items could not be purchased. So, they left.

Big Deal offers do have limits which are in the fine print, the member is allowed a refund from Angie's List for the Big Deal if requested. I'm not sure where the misunderstanding came in about Home Depot.

I was not quoted a price before-hand on the wiring of the ceiling fan, when I said I had a ceiling fan that needed to be wired, I was told "OK". If they charge by the job and not by the hour, they could have just said then and there "$84" and I would have said "no thanks".
Description of Work: I paid $99 to have them install a ceiling fan, an "Angie's List Big Deal". They were fairly good about returning phone calls and the worker showed up on time. I was at work and a client had called right when I was leaving to meet the worker, so I spent the next hour and a half on a conference call while my 31 year old daughter met with the electrician. I had purchased a ceiling fan which came with a light. My daughter texted me to ask if I wanted a remote installed for the fan/light while he was there? How much? $138. I told her ok. So thatt's more than double the original cost to add a remote, I had told the man on the phone who scheduled the appointment that I had installed a fan in another room, but needed the electrician, while he was there, to hook up the wires. That's all he had to do and that's all he did. According to my daughter it took him 15 minutes and he charged $84. I called her after my conference call, the electrician had already left, and I was out a total of $321 for less than 2 hours (including my "big deal"). When she told me about the $84 for 15 minutes, I immediately called the office, and asked the man about the $84 for 15 minutes' work. Yes he said that's what they charge for something like that, I said, "so what's your hourly rate? $320?" He said "We don't have an hourly rate" (really interesting). I asked him how they charged then, he said it was by the job. I asked him to check with his electrician to make sure this charge is correct because I want to make sure we both come out of this feeling like it's a fair deal and $84 for 15 minutes' work is not fair. He said he would check. It's been over a week and I have had no call back. By the way I'm a woman and I think that's why this happened. I will not use them again.

I'm sorry that the member was not satisfied with the our service. The electrician on the job has more than 20 years experience and makes electrical work look easy. To hook up the other ceiling fan that someone else installed, he had to work with old fabric colored wire that was not color coded to match the new fan. Since the member was not quoted the price in advance we are refunding the $84 for the wiring to the ceiling fan

The whole experience went well. Despite running late on the scheduled day of service, Al called at the appointment time to tell me that one of his technicians had experienced some trouble with his van, and was running late. This allowed me to leave for work without delay and without wondering what had happened. They did the work requested,at the prices quoted, and called me at work when they were done to tell me what they found, what risks (if any) existed going forward, and how they fixed the problems.
Description of Work: We suspected that we were having some electrical surges in our garage that were damaging the garage door opener. We also had a freezer in the garage plugged into the same circuit that all of our outdoor outlets ran through, causing the GFCI (?) circuit breaker to trip quite frequently when using the outdoor plugs (e.g., Christmas lights, electric mower/hedge trimmers, etc.). We had Al come out and give us estimates on both of these and 3 other jobs we were considering. We only had them do these two this time due to budget considerations.
