Household goods or commercial office moving, loading and unloading of truck rentals or containers, packing service, safes (limit 2000 lbs.) pianos and organs. We move locally, throughout Texas and the greater Soutwest.
We had received some positive feedback from co-workers on Move West. After getting estimates from a number of companies and based on the great feedback we'd been given we opted to go with Move West. We had them move all of our indoor and outdoor furniture along with a handful of smaller items. Initial conversations to go over what we needed moved, timing, etc. went well and were very professional. On the day of the move Henry and Saul arrived on time. They were effective and efficient in loading the truck with our furniture and a few smaller items. Both gentleman were very courteous and professional throughout the experience. When the arrived at our new house they unloaded the truck with the same care they loaded it and placed all of the furniture in the appropriate rooms and assembled the few items that had to be taken apart to move. All in all it was great service at a great price. I would definitely use this company again in the future and would recommend them highly.
Description of Work: We moved our entire household from Las Cruces to El Paso.

I was very disappointed in Move West, and I would not recommend this company for moving. I did not use this company because I had an extremely bad experience almost from the beginning. I called Move West on April 23rd to get an estimate for a long-distance move. I scheduled an appointment with them for April 24th at 1:00 P.M. On April 24th at 1:50 P.M., the gentleman called me to say that he was on the West Side and wouldn't be there until 2:30 P.M. Why didn't he call when he knew he would be late? At 2:30 P.M., he again called and said that he was just driving over and would be there closer to 3:00 P.M. Again, why didn't he call when he was already going to be late? When he finally showed up, he gave me an estimate that was nearly half of what the other companies told me. I asked him why the rate was so low, and he responded that he didn't see this as a big job. To put things in the proper context, the moving company I used spent over 14 hours across two days with a team of 3. Move West estimated 2 guys in 6-8 hours could pack and load my belongings! The truth is that Move West wanted my business because they already had a scheduled pick up in the vicinity, so this job would allow for making money both going and coming back. The gentleman told me as much and even tried to schedule me sooner than I would be ready. When I called the gentleman the next day to say that I would not go with him because I was uncomfortable with his estimate being too low and I didn't have the confidence that my possessions would be treated well, he responded that he could charge an extra $1000 to make sure things were packed fine! Packing things appropriately should have been in the estimate from the beginning! When I stated that I had made my decision, he hung up on me. Overall, while Move West responded quickly in setting up an appointment, the gentleman was late twice to get the estimate, didn't properly estimate the job, and was very unprofessional towards me. I think Move West needs to revisit dealing with customers before anyone would consider using this company.

This gentleman asked for an on-site survey/ estimate, as soon as possible.. I went the next day,and gave him a good faith estimate. He called the office the following day to say he chose a different mover. Then he then called me on my cell phone to inform me of the same, and explain that my quote was too low, also that he did not feel comfortable with us. I asked him if he would feel more comfortable, and hire us if we charged him an additional $1000.00. He said no, and began his lengthy explanation of why. I interrupted him, explaining I had to drive, thanked him again and said goodbye. I am curious, as to the final weight of his shipment and how many containers were used. I estimated his shipment to be about 5 thousand pounds. The packing portion consisted mostly of his large collection of toys, c.d.'s and movie memorabilia. He mentioned he would bring additional items from his parents home to his apartment. I did not see these items and did not include them in my estimate. I did not charge this gentlemen for my estimate, and he was under no obligation to hire us, and did not hire us. I fail to see what this gentleman is complaining about.

Everything went extremely well, until furniture was unloaded in Frisco. The driver from Move West was extremely friendly and courteous. The issue occurred when the contracted movers attempted to move my refrigerator into the house. After several unsuccessful attempts to get the appliance into the house, the doors were removed, and it fit easily through the front door. After reattaching the refrigerator doors and put back into place, that I noticed doors were badly scratch. Since then, I have tried to discuss repair/replacement of doors with Roger Showery. He originally said he would replace doors, but has since retracted his offer. The cost of the doors, ended up to be a 1/3 of the entire moving cost. He has been extremely evasive and will not answer questions directly. He promises to return calls, and never does.

I have spoken to him many times and have exchanged correspondence with him as well. His complaint concerns a scratched refrigerator door. We have offered and have sent him $400.00. We believe this amount is more than we are obligated to pay and should be enough to have the doors replaced, repaired, or touched up. The refrigerator in question, was already dented and the skin was separating from the side of the unit prior to our moving it. This claim has been mediated through the Better Business Bureau. They have informed us that we have made a good faith effort in an attempt to resolve this issue and that the case has been closed.

They worked quickly, and took special care to load the china cabinet and buffet ( VERY LARGE AND HEAVY). Went from a one level to a townhouse. They were equally as careful with my china cabinet and buffet, and set up my bed, though they did lose an important piece to the platform bed which I didn't realize till much later, so it never set quite right and less stable. Overall, it went well. I was careful to put all my jewelry boxes, etc in my car and they never touched them. About three weeks later, I got a bill from a credit card I never used before. Turns out, one of the guys stole my credit card and purchased gasoline for several cars - $300 worth within a couple days. The Detective told me the guy knew what he was doing due to all the .10 charges to test the card first, and had a criminal background. My credit card refunded the money, and the police arrested the guy, but beware of ALL MOVERS or people who work in your home! The owner may be alright, but make sure his employees have passed background checks and are bonded and licensed. Especially if you have a lot of things still not packed away that you keep in drawers as I did - sticky fingers always stay sticky. Gave them a D on overall experience because they did the job well, but hiring men who have backgrounds that are less than stellar, is unacceptable.
Description of Work: Moved from a tiny 2 bdrm apartment on the east side to the west side. I packed everything and had it all ready, except for my vanity, as I had two smal tiny drawers that I forgot about. (My daughter had used them several times on her very large moves, to include a piano, so seeing how hard the owner worked (much harder than his employees), was on time and worked till completed - even till late in the night.) I thought nothing could go wrong. .

Customer is writing about a move of about 6 years prior. According to our records, she has dates and facts misconstrued. Our records indicate in August 2004 we moved the customer and her daughter to a house on the west side. This was a large move and included a piano. In December 2005 we moved customer from her daughter's house to an apartment on the eastside of town. She called two to three weeks later, to tell us that her credit card was being used fraudulently. She suspected one of our employees. None of our employees were ever charged with the credit card theft. At the time we believe she simply misplaced her card and some person, and perhaps someone known to her, used her card. We thought it was unfair at the time, to accuse our employee of credit card theft simply because of the timing. We believe it is even more unfair for her to bring accusation and attest that our employee was arrested for this crime, which is false. We have the police report which indicates there were no arrests regarding her case. She stated that we moved her from the eastside apartment to the westside for which we have no record. This Angie's List report is inaccurate and bears false claims.
