Very timely. had people here when they were scheduled. There was a problem with bad adhesives that caused a minor bump but it was solved in a manner that we are happy with. I really would recommend Mr. Martin and his subs. Maybe we will work again on another project.

We had some definite ideas of what we wanted to do with the enclosure of our back patio. Jim and Becky Martin worked with us on all of the details, specifically the new windows and the French doors. The project began in mid-October and was scheduled as a 5-6 week project. Delays, on our part, extended the project and Jim and Becky worked with us through these delays. Jim's employees are very dependable, courteous, and did everything we asked them to do. The results are fabulous! The room looks great with the windows, shutters, and French doors we wanted. The Pergo flooring looks wonderful. They did a superb job of using our old brick to match the exterior of our existing home. The color of the paint, burgundy, really adds to the warmth of the room. In addition to all of the above, Jim Martin contacted Scott Contracting for the heating/cooling part of the new addition. Scott Contracting installed a Trane Multi Zone Mini Split system for heating and cooling the room. The unit looks great and works very well. We plan to use Scott Contracting for all our AC needs in the future. The room is exactly what we wanted and we love it! If we start another project in the future, Jim and Becky Martin will be the ones we will call. We recommend them 100% percent.

Highly recommend
Description of Work: Becky and Jim Martin handled a major renovation of our kitchen, one full bath, replaced all tile with travertine, and painted the entire interior of our house. They accomplished this on time and on budget. As with all major projects, problems occurred , and they were able to make us as their customer more than satisfied. Their workers are highly competent, very professional , and a pleasure to work with. Each of the groups they used (floors, plumbers, electricians, painters, cabinet makers, and their own staff) went above and beyond to make us happy. Jim and Becky helped us coordinate styling and colors, design, and function. They are outstanding as general contractors. I would highly recommend them to anyone. We are looking forward to using their services for our next project to Reno the remaining un done bathrooms. Plus, they are really nice and enjoyable people to share your life with for weeks at a time! They are an A plus team.

They, like everyone I get, is on Angie's List. So far, it's been very good. They listen to us. I've used them before and they're excellent. The $33,000-worth renovation they did was excellent. They're A+ all the way. They're very professional. They make sure the tile people, the floor people, everybody was working. It's just an A+ company. All the nightmares you hear about construction, none of it came through with them. They came when they said they were coming. They did what they said they were gonna do. It was just really, really smooth.

We really liked that they showed up when they said they would. This is a big problem we have found in our town. They were very thorough and took pictures of the area where the work would be performed. Then, they drafted a contract with the details of the work to be performed and they came back and met with us and went over the contract with us and allowed us to clarify and ask any questions to make sure we were all on the same track. We signed the agreement and made a down payment of 20% on the agreed price. We had an agreed upon start date and they were ready to start on the agreed date. They were also very conscientious about where they placed the rolloff trash container and portable bathroom for their workers. They frequently sought our approval on things as the work progressed and they were always concerned with us being pleased with the work. Mr. and Mrs. Martin checked in with us throughout the job and you honestly could not find more down to earth, trustworthy, good people to work with! At one point in the job, there were a couple minor details that we were worried had been forgotten. We made Mrs. Martin aware of our concerns via email and she quickly responded and assured us these areas were still being addressed. The following day, both of these issues were addressed and it was clear we were just over anxious about our project. They had it under control the entire time! The framing work was really nicely done, the stucco work was perfect, they painted the entire back of the house so it would match instead of just the areas the repairs were made, and the electrical work was exactly what we wanted (separate wall switches to control lights and fans). The project came out even better than we expected! We had priced the job with other contractors who were higher in cost and I do not think it would have come out as well. We are picky and want things done right - with Jim Martin Construction, we got exactly that! Plus, the experience of working with one of the most customer service oriented businesses ran by ethical, hardworking, good people!
Description of Work: We contracted with Mr. and Mrs. Martin to add a covered balcony deck with electrical wiring for ceiling fans to our home and remodel the arches on our existing lower patio.

It went fine except for the very end. The worker wanted to sand the door to the garage before painting it but the owner was pushing him to get done and told him to just paint over the door. The paint, of course, scaled off and had to be redone a few months later when I could finally round up Mr. Martin to return the man to the house to complete the job!
Description of Work: I wanted wallpapered walls in my kitchen to be stripped, brocaded, and painted. I also wanted new lighting in the kitchen and matching tile placed on the wall next to the floor after removing the brown plastic molding around the floor. I myself stripped the wallpaper which took many days because it was originally put on walls without much wall preparation by a prior owner. Martin men came in and smoothed out the wall, brocaded it, and painted. The ceiling lights were originally three rows of 8 foot long double bulb fluorescent light fixtures. We ended up with three rows of round but flattened fluorescent fixtures in the pattern three in an outside row, two in the middle, three on the other outside row which matched the original use of switches for the long electrical fixtures originally placed there. The tiles were put in place as the last part of the work and the doors to the garage and dining room were also painted.

Went well. I was not concerned about time as to when the job started and ended so the fact it dragged on a bit because some of the plumbing parts were not made available in a timely manner by a local vendor did not bother me at all! Of course I kept on adding more things to do, too, so I am to blame as well for extending the original time frame. The Martin's accommodated all of my requests in a timely thorough manner.
Description of Work: Replaced normal hall door to master bedroom and master bedroom bathroom door with pocket doors. Removed tile and all fixtures except for bathtub itself in master bathroom. Put in dual shower controls (near faucet and on opposite wall) on bathtub walls. Replaced counter, cabinet, sink, and faucet. Replaced floor tile and wall tile around bathtub as well as around window with new porcelain tile. Different tile sizes were used for the walls as well as for the floor but they were all one design. Replaced electrical switches in wall with new ones once new electrical fixture over sink was installed. Removed door to closet off of bathroom and enlarged the opening. Ultimately a swinging two piece door was placed there to give a semblance of privacy and allow for air circulation in closet. Had a floor to ceiling cabinet built opposite the toilet which has multiple shelves; cabinet under sink has pull out boxes on the bottom accessible through two doors on the left and three drawers on the right...two shallow ones for things like combs, fingernail files, etc., and one tall enough to hold a good sized shampoo bottle, boxes to separate items, and so on. Removed and installed new faucets in double sink in hall bathroom. Removed and put in new stove and vent fan in kitchen. Replaced all vent openings and painted where necessary. Replaced painted sills in bedroom with stained sills.

Jim Martin responded to our request and scheduled an appointment for a quote in a timely manner. He was thorough, asked several questions, and took pictures of the areas to be remodeled. The disappointing part is that Mr. Martin never provided a quote for us to review and consider. We appreciated his time, but not the experience.

GREAT, as it always does. The Martin Construction Company men are absolutely super in their attention to detail and cleaning up after themselves. I added a few things to the original estimate and "took away" some of the things the contractor assumed he would do. I peeled the wallpaper off myself...a tedious 2-day job. I also purchased the circular fluorescent fixtures rather than go with the original plan of using recessed can lighting.
Description of Work: Remove existing frame in recessed ceiling where egg crate was installed. Remove existing fluorscent lights. Install 7 fluorescent circular lights (center rows of 3 fixtures; outer 2 rows of 2 fixtures each) in existing recessed ceiling. Remove light over sink and install recessed light into ceiling. Repair ceiling. Brocade the walls and ceiling. Paint the walls and ceiling. Replace parts of broken door frame and paint all doors facing into kitchen with the new paint color, French White.

I saw this company's work at a friend's house and vowed to get them to come to my house to do a bathroom remodeling when I had time to be around the house. It took two years for me to have the time and it was worth the wait! The company started one week late because the prior job the crew that was to come to me was still working on had experienced some additions/changes which required the crew to overstay the original end date. This did not disturb me at all. I was told this in enough time to not extend myself unnecesarily. Their men are professional and knowledgeable. When they are unsure about something, they do not go ahead until things are clarified by either Mr. or Mrs. Martin...or the customer if there is to be a change. The company is willing to do other jobs while on working on the main job; we replaced our other bathroom faucets, for instance, using their plumber. Their main man on my job was very neat; he cleaned up each day and I could have remained in my bedroom even in the middle of the mess, had I not chosen to sleep at a friend's house during the course of the remodeling. I did use my home during the day, but mess from the bathroom never "traveled" to other rooms. This company uses very good subcontractors such as cabinetmakers, licensed electricians, Pergo floor specialists, and tile men, all of whom did an excellent job. I would highly recommend this company for anyone in the area to use as a remodeling firm. They do what they agree to do and will extend and change the contract as needed/requested by the homeowner. Flexibility is there; honesty is definitely a part of the process. Mr. and Mrs. Martin both have high standards and they hold their workers to those standards as well.
Description of Work: Becky Martin, Jim's wife, is an excellent aide for a person who is not too sure WHAT can be done with a limited space. My bathroom was opened up by removing an interior wall and by widening the door from the bedroom and making it a pocket door. I also have an opening to both the interior closet and the bathroom itself that is wheelchair friendly should I ever need it. The door from the hall to the bedroom was changed to a pocket door, giving more space on one side of the bedroom that was now usable. The original bathtub was left in place; everything else in the bathroom was stripped out during the course of the remodeling. Things were placed outside on a cement area near my gate; some things were given away to the men or to whomever the contractor chose to give them such as the old sink, cabinet, light fixture, etc. New plumbing, rather complicated in design, was placed in the bathtub area, providing dual shower capability. The end where the bathtub spiggot is placed has its own showerhead, and there are separate volume and temperature controls. At the opposite end there is a separate showerhead and a separate removable sprayer, which is not a part of the showerhead fixture. Again there are separate volume and temperature controls. This plumbing was very tricky and required the presence of the plumbing supply house technician to clarify how it should be placed, welded, whatever needed to be done. I was taken to a tile place on the other side of town and chose lovely porcelain tile for walls around the tub and floor. I wanted a foldable shower door; Mrs. Martin had never seen one like the one that HAD been on that tub, and she found it on the net and ordered two, the second one for my other shower in my other bathroom off the main hall. Again Mrs. Martin helped with the choice of paint colors. Her men did a beautiful job of brocading the walls; I had had wallpaper which of course had been removed. New wallboard was placed around the tub area and some new board was also placed in part of the ceiling. The cabinets came in at the wrong color; the cabinetmaker had been given an item that was made of teak. I guess I wasn't clear as to which of the many teak colors that item had (each surface, upon examination, was seen to have a slightly different teak color) and once he saw the main teak colors in my bedroom, the cabinetmaker subtractor took back the cabinets to his shop and color-toned correctly. I have the kind of drawers and doors that you push ALMOST all the way closed and they close themselves; nice! The door was removed from the separate clothes closet and the doorway widened for wheelchair access (not needed yet, thank heaven!). I will be adding a set of swinging doors set placed about waist to shoulder height so that the "view" is somewhat blocked of my clothing inside the closet. I can always add back a door if I want to but don't chose to do so now.
