Spoke to a different hauler who told me he wasn't able to haul our trash until Sunday. We have a few projects going on and there aren't many haulers in the El Paso area so I called "JAK (Joe)" who said he would be able to come out and give me an estimate within a couple hours. I called him around 3 and said he'd be over at 5:30. At 5:30 (the time he said he'd be at my house), I called him and he asked if it was "pouring (raining) at my house" in which it wasn't, so he said he was on his way. I tried to call him around 7 to see if he was still coming because it was getting late and we wanted to have dinner. He didn't answer. I almost thought he wasn't going to show, but he did between 7-7:30. He told me on the phone that not only is he a hauler but a handy-man, so we took this opportunity to get quotes on the other projects we want to complete. We understand asking for all these quotes was last minute, but we also didn't think he'd be this late nor that his family was waiting for him in the truck. The only complaint I really have is that during the price quoting for our projects, a loved one waiting in his truck for him kept honking the horn for him to come out or leave. It wasn't one honk, or two, it was multiple honks, about three or four sets, a couple minutes apart. I finally told him he could hold off on the quotes because someone was really wanting him to leave. I guess he had other commitments with his family so I appreciate him trying his best to finish the discussion we were having before leaving. On the other hand, it was very distracting. So I hired him to haul some left over rock pieces from a rock wall job where the other guy (Alex of Green Landscaping) we hired told us at the end of the job that the hauling of the rock wasn't included in the quote he gave us. It wasn't much, another hauler quoted me $75 (Runnin Rabit), Joe quoted $150. After some negotiating we came to an agreement on $135 for the hauling and weed trimming around my front, back yards and behind my house. I still thought the price was a little high but I needed the rock hauled in a short amount of time and he was willing to do it the following day. He came out today at the time he said he would be here. Joe was here with another co-worker and they went straight to work which I really liked. They worked efficiently together, quick and more than willing to help with more, asking if there was anything else we needed him to haul. They completed the job in about an hour and a half. They picked up all the trash, cut all the weeds as agreed. He raked the rocks where his truck was parked and hauled my rock-trash away. Very nice guy and I can tell that no job is too small for him, he seems eager, willing and able to work hard for you. Will definitely use him again for our next hauling and/or weed trimming needs. Might even hire him for a painting project.

Is sad to realize a lot of business like this are operating out there without any control whatsoever. At this point, I do not know if this man will ever do as committed. May not get a response, but I trust through your site, some people may not make the same mistake I did with this business.
Description of Work: Jose Vasquez was contacted to provide a service of landscape, to include yard cleaning and a PVC pipe fixing, broken recently due to the freezing temperatures in El Paso. As he showed up to present proposal, he did on the amount of $ 1300.00 dlls, due to complete in a matter of a three day period, from March 9th through March 11th, 2011. He agreed to change some small plants, two fig trees, replace PVC pipe and valve, install anti-siphon valve, and seal cover an area of stamped concrete with a good quality sealer, he said will use first quality materials, not the cheap stuff, and last clean the yard. He asked for an advance $700.00 dlls payment which was covered. As of March 21, 2011 the job not only has not been completed, but Vasquez who then promised to finish the job by March 18, 2011, also demanded payment in cash of the remainder $600.00 in order to proceed. He has not call or responded to my calls.
