J. HERRERA Carpentry & Remodeling

Asked for an estimate, which I received via e-mail. Their estimate did not cover everything I asked for, so I'll have to contact them and ask for clarification.

I never used or got a quote from these guys. I was just researching the reviews on Angie's list.

My experience has been very good with this company. They answer promptly when called and give a detailed estimate of work costs. They show up on time and work is completed in a timely fashion. The work they did is good and I have not had any problems. I plan to use them again for a kitchen remodel and feel they will do a good job again. They are willing to do large as well as small contracting jobs.

We called Mr. Herrera after a winter storm that resulted in 2 significant leaks in our bedroom and 1 leak in our kitchen. He was prompt and initiated roof repair almost right away. His roofing skills are good and his promptness and ability to complete the roofing task quickly was exceptional. The negatives: He has his daughter "manage" his business. She appeared often with several children who ran around and remained on site during the repair. She also lurked around without being of much assistance during the course of the repairs. Mr. Herrera will direct you to her for quotes and payment. I asked her to quote me an additional cost to repaint my bedroom. She returned with an unrealistic, outside market, astronomical cost (with clearly no clue or experience in the field of painting). When we rejected the offer and thanked Mr. Herrera for his services she was unpleasant to work with thereafter, as her father completed the roofing task. She seems incompetent and was annoying to have to deal with--Mr. Herrera on the other hand was efficient, on time, and expeditious in his completion of the roofing work. He'd have a perfect rating if it were not for his daughter and her involvement in his work.

During monsoon season when it was impossible to find a roofer I was able to get Mr. Herrera to come and repair my roof. He was responsive to my direction when I pointed out areas that needed attention.
