The central air conditioning in my home suddenly stopped cooling on a hot Summer night. I tried to find an obvious solution on the internet but after performing all the do it yourself repairs and maintenance solutions that did not solve the cooling issue. The only two options I had were either a low refrigerant level, or a dirty evaporator coil. I decided to leave these options to a professional. After calling three other HVAC companies at 3:00 in the afternoon and being turned down, I decided to call HART Services. Within 30 minutes their technicians were at my door. Not only was I glad to see them and hoping for cooler air in my home but I was fortunate I called HART. Their technicians are professional, knowledgeable, and courteous to say the least. My entire system was thoroughly inspected, Freon levels checked, electrical components, ext. until a solution was found and immediately solved. I learned about how A/C systems operate, optimal refrigerant levels, as well as proper maintenance procedures to follow. I'm glad I called HART. The team was very honest with me and did not charge me for a part that was not broken or malfunctioning as a number of HVAC companies would try to do here in town- Based on experience. I have their business card taped to the door behind my A/C system for any future calls. I would not hesitate calling these pro's whenever I have a problem with my A/C or heater. In fact I'll be calling them for a yearly maintenance service from now on. My best friends will find about this company ASAP. If you have any issues with the cooling or heating system in your home, don't think about it twice, let HART do the work for you. You won't regret it.

Our house was built in 1987. We bought it in 2001. For the time we have owned it, and I'm sure since it was built, the AC and heat airflow to the kitchen side of the house has been weak while the bedroom side has been strong. HART installed a new heater/AC system in November with new OSB registers for improved airflow. That worked, but the kitchen wing was still out of balance with the bedroom wing; we needed to crank down the bedroom wing registers to force more air to the kitchen wing. That helped a lot but did increase the noise level in the bedroom wing. HART's techs arrived and scoped out the duct work and came up with an inspired plan: they cut a 14" round hole into the duct work as it exited the top of the heater and curved toward the hall main duct work. They ran an insulated, flexible 14" duct from the top of the heater to the duct feeding the kitchen/living wing. The direct up flowing air now freely pushed through the flexible duct and on into the living areas. This solution had three effects: 1. Greatly improved the airflow into the living areas which was now pressure balanced with the bedroom wing. 2. Quieted the system since we now could fully open the OSB registers in the bedroom wing. 3. Since the airflow was free flowing, there is now less heat build up in the heater closet area which is where the thermostat is located. We planned to move the thermostat but now find the current location is fine. They were done in two hours and the house has never been more comfortable, balanced, and quiet.
Description of Work: Corrected duct work to improve the balance of airflow between the kitchen/living wing and the bedroom wing of the house.

HART Services is outstanding in every regard. Responsiveness, knowledge, communications, professionalism, and just plan good to work with. Our original 1987 heater was a low-end 100,000 BTU make that never performed well. It finally failed and needed a $180 fix. Manny and his visiting technicians provided us with three estimates: 1. Repair current heater ($180) 2. Replace current heater with a higher performance, variable speed blower, AC-compatible in future heater ($2500) 3. Upgrade to two-stage, 5-ton, 17 SEER refrigerated AC with new gas heater, humidifier, programmable t-stat, 10 new OBD registers, by American Standard Platinum/Gold series units. ($8300). Install 220V service to compressor unit (relatively easy in our case since our exisiting service was only 20' away on same exterior side of house, and no new main service panel was needed, just a ganged breaker). If you need a new electrical service panel then that can add another $2000 or more to costs. If you are replacing an existing refrigerated HVAC system then you costs might be a $1000 less becuase the infrastructure is already in-place. Even though Manny said that there was a 2-week lead time, since our heater was kaput, he sent an excellent 2-man crew over next day to install the new heater, new thermostat, and heater top coil box. 2 1/2 hours later we had a working heating system. Then they had an unexpected opening, called that night and next day sent a 3-man crew to do most of the compressor and refrigerant line work, plus removal of the evaporative cooler from the roof. They worked 8 1/2 hours. They will be back next week to finish up the cooler and OBD register part. All three visiting crews, estimator-technicians, heater installers, and cooler installers were excellent. Courteous, professional, caring people. While we have not tried the cooler, the new heater makes all the difference in the world for comfort and reasonably quiet with variable speed blower motor. These motors have "soft start/stop" circuitry which turns the blower slowly, then fast until the desired temerature is reached, then slower to maintain temperature.... very nice comfort and economy feature. Expect the heater performance will be even better once the OBD registers are installed along with the humidifier. If you are reading this you will probably also be doing other research on the internet. In the end, after meeting the first crew and speaking with and emailing with Manny and Michael, we were comfortable trusting this group. We ourselves did look at AC brand rating websites, HVAC blogs, reddit, The Onion, and other pertinent websites. Lots of good and misleading information out there, so trust in your local HVAC company is important. In fact, one theme found in our research was that the installation company/crew was 50% of the quality quotient in your final system. I would hold that the percentage is higher since the local provider is also recommending and selling specific brnads that they trust. I asked one of the initial installers, a younger guy, why they sold American Standard and one other brand. He said, A-S provided good training along with good product and good value. Makes all the difference.

HART came out to troubleshoot my AC system that wasn't cooling. They arrived exactly at the time they said they would. They were friendly, courteous, and appeared to be very knowledgeable. They quickly identified the problem and called in to get a replacement part shipped from the Trane distribution center. They came back out as soon as they received the part from Trane. They replaced it and verified the system was working properly. I honestly could not be happier!
Description of Work: Troubleshooted my faulty AC system. Quickly determined it was a bad component. Returned to my house the same day the replacement part arrived from Trane distribution center. Quickly replaced part. AC system fully functional again.

After six estimates, checking with the BBB, reading Angie's List review, lots of questions and comparing prices, Hart Services earned the job. My husband and I were very pleasantly impressed with this company's honesty, professionalism, work knowledge, clean, respectful and friendly workers -- oh and trustworthy (left them alone in my house several times). We appreciated their attention to detalied work and patience. They even helped with two minor things we needed done out of kindness. We can not say enough about them and how satisfied we are with their service.
Description of Work: Converted to refrigerated air and new furnace; cleaned ducts; increased air return; added 240 volt electrical; OBD registers; nice programable thermostat and cleaned and removed all debris.

We received 2 other estimates before selecting HART Services. Manny came to our home on a Saturday, took the necessary measurements needed, and called me on Monday as he indicated he would with an estimate. He answered all my questions and we discussed different brands of heaters/air conditioning units, warranties, and SEER ratings. Each communication with him was pleasant and professional. The work was started on time and was finished in the number of days agreed upon. There were some installation challenges, but we were involved in each decision and given options. The technicians who came to my home were professional and worked very well together. They were there each morning on time and worked very cleanly. They removed the evaporative coolers and also did some additonal electrical work that my husband requested. I am extremely happy with the installation of our new heater, the refrigerated air unit, and the service provided. I would definitely recommend this company for any heating or air conditioning service/conversion.
