This is the review. The plumber shows up to do an install on my water heater. It was already removed and discarded before he arrived by another company. He gave a quote of $1250. (The last company quoted just over $1000 but could not finish the work) I told him I did not want to pay for removal since that's already been done. He said that's the company's price regardless. When I said there's no way that's legal for me to pay for something that you never did, I think you should reconsider. He told me I could call the office. I did while he was standing there and they said they will call him. They did and he came back and told me the same thing $1250. Again I disagree with paying for removal that you're not about to do. Again he says there's nothing he can do but talk to the company. I do, this time getting a supervisor. I told him what was going on. He also says he's going to call the plumber who's standing right in front of me. Again the plumber comes back and says the company says there's nothing they can do. The whole thing is fishy from top to bottom and I told the plumber this. Then call back the so-called supervisor and told him also. Here's the summary If the price was standard why did the supervisor have to talk to the plumber and not just tell me the customer? When I call the supervisor back the last time, he says the price is $1300 and change for install and removal. I wasn't being charged for removal. (Even though the plumber said I was at $1250) I asked him, if that was true why didn't your plumber say this at the beginning? (Remember I made two separate calls on that one point alone. Over that one price alone.) Instead of saying that it was $1250 just for the installation. He made it quite clear that that amount was for installation and removal and that he would charge it no matter what. The $1300 quote was never mentioned until I called the supervisor back after asking the plumber to leave and then calling him back to tell him what I thought of their professionalism. It's quite clear to me that either the plumber was lying all along. Or the supervisor was when talking to me. Of course I got the obligatory well he says he told you statement. Which would make no sense that I would make two calls three if you count the final and only heard $1300 once when I complain about your professionalism. I cannot see how this is a reputable business, if this is the way they play ping-pong with the customer. It doesn't matter how many stars they get. You are judged by how you deal with problems. Not accolades

Description of Work: Gray has serviced our furnace and cooler for several years. The service has always been professional and courteous. Our cooler finally bit the dust and had to be replaced. The cost was reasonable. The service was prompt and efficient. The technicians answered all my questions.

the were absolutely terrible, and unprofessional; never showed up.
Description of Work: I called after hours and was willing to pay the extra for the service call. I call them around 4:30 pm, and they told me that they will be at my location about 7pm. I received a call from them at 8:15 pm (after I made several calls to the answering service), stating that they would not be able to make it. with a temp. of almost 90 degrees and a family member with cancer, they did not even have the courtesy of letting me know so that I would be able to call someone else. I explained the importance, and why I need to get the work done, they are so unprofessional in my mind. I would not recommend them at all to any of my friends.

Gray was very responsive with the initial sales call. They gave me the lowest bid of three, so I went with them. They also recommended Rheem, a relatively unknown brand in order to save me money. After some research, I realized Rheem is reliable and enjoys a good reputation. After the sales call, they could have done a little better job with communication. They did not call to confirm the installation appointment, I had to call them. The installers came and did the job in 2 days. My only minor complaint is that the roof sealing job (where the swamp cooler was) could have been a little neater. There were rust particles left behind and the track marks from where the cooler sat were not completely filled in. (There won't be any leakage but you can see where it was.) All in all they did a pretty nice job and save me some money. I would use them again.
Description of Work: Removed swamp cooler and old furnace; installed new furnace and air conditioner.

I am planning on converting my house from evaporative cooling to refrigerated air conditioning. I obtained a total of 4 cost estimates. Gray Heating and Cooling provided 1 of the 4 cost estimates. Two representatives from Gray came out. They were punctual and very professional. They answered all my questions. Gray's cost estimate was 2nd to the lowest I received. The reason that I did not use there service was because the company that I eventually chose had a better reputation and they had the product that I preferred. Gray Heating and Cooling installs Carrier products and I preferred a Trane product. However, had Gray Heating and Cooling had a better reputation I would have gone with them instead. The company did I eventually chose to install the refrigerated air conditioning units had the 2nd highest cost estimate of the 4 cost estimates that I received.
Description of Work: No service was performed, obtained a cost estimate only.

The technician was very punctual on the scheduled time even though I had to push back the time. He was friendly and courteous. He answered my questions regarding the state of my system. He didn't try to push off extras, which I found very noble. He performed the work and left my home ready for the winter season. I would recommend Gray's for furnace and a/c work.
Description of Work: They prepared my furnace for the winter season. Checked the system for carbon monoxide emissions and changed the furnace air filter. In addition to furnace check, he also shut off my two cooling units for the season. In the report, he included what was done, the size of the filter for the furnace and warranty information for the job performed.

They spent about 1 and 1/2 days. They had a positive pressure system and it sucked all the loose debrie out of the ducts. I knew I had rusted areas in my ductwork and they cleaned it very well. The overall cleaning was very good. I would reccommend them to anyone who needs duct cleaning by professionals.

They were great. We needed to get the system in before the end of the year so we could get the tax benefit. We started the process a month before and they had it in and up and going before the end of December. The price was the same as other places and a lot less than another place. The price was comparable but it wasn't the determining factor. We liked their willingness to work with us to get this done so that we could get that tax rebate. When we got done and paid them, they had the sheet of paper I needed to get the refund. It was right in my hand. I'm very happy with them.

We have two coolers for our house; Gray's installed a similar cooler for us two years ago. As before, the estimate was given quickly, the work was performed when promised with completely satisfactory results (including leaving the area completely clean), and the installers were friendly and courteous. We would definitely recommend Gray's for any heating or cooling installation or repair.

They are usually good. They used a reconditioned motor, and it went out within a day. They had sold it to me as a new one, and I wasn't happy about that. They came out and put another one in after that. It was hard to make an appointment with them. They weren't available. The motor went out after hours, and then they told me to call back the next morning. Then, they told me that there were no appointments for that day, and that I had to wait for two weeks. They are inconsistent. I checked around with other people who had replaced those motors. The only way I could have gotten a cheaper price was if I did it that myself. Their responsiveness is the big issue.

Called for service on a Thursday afternoon (after 5 pm). Answering service said "after hours call" was $118.00 per hr plus parts. Was told to call back the next morning (Friday) to schedule regular service. Called next morning (8 am). Was told no service available for that day except "after hours" service (see prices above). Able to schedule appt for the following Monday. Service technician replaced motor, pulley, and belt. Actual labor cost $98.75 (not much less than "after hours" service). Motor was approx. $50.00 more than online, pulley was three times more than online ($10.00)--even with shipping and handling, online was about $50.00-$60.00 cheaper. Overall service was fair.
Description of Work: Replaced evaporative cooler motor, pulley, and belt.
