EXPRESS MOVE IT

Great work in difficult conditions. The previous pack out was so unprofessional that it was difficult to even access items without doing damage. they repacked it, reorganized it and did a fantastic job.

They showed up right on time and immediately toured the house. I explained to them what we wanted moved first and where to start. They started moving and organizing things into the moving truck. It only took 2 hours and everything was loaded up well. Nothing was broken or missing. I was very happy with their services

I interviewed 5 movers in preparation for this long-distance move for a new job position. Of all of the movers, Roy from Express Move-It was the most professional and had the best plan to move me in the time frame I needed. The team showed up on time to pack my belongings over the course of 2 days. They were all very professional and cordial. I would use Express Move-It again, and my overall rating is an A. However, I did place a B for price and quality, and these are the reasons. First, in regards to price, I was charged half of the amount up front, and half on delivery, which I found very professional. I used a credit card because I wasn't sure how long it would be before I received my first paycheck, and I wanted to have as much cash on hand as I could. Roy let me know that there would be a service charge for the credit card, but even he was surprised that it was 5% of the amount! So, I paid $325 extra just for using the credit card! I think this is an absurd amount, especially since the cost of the move was already $6500 and my credit history is excellent. I don't think this service charge is reasonable. In my case, I did have some additional possessions at the last minute. Although there were not a lot of these possessions, Express Move-It didn't charge me extra although they could. I appreciated that, and I think it made up for the service charge which is why it isn't too big an issue for me for this move. Second, in regards to quality, I had a few disappointments. First, the freight company that Express Move It used was Old Dominion. Old Dominion was extremely unprofessional. Due to the weather on the day of delivery, the driver left 3.5 hours after the original time. This start delay resulted in a delivery that was over 7 hours later than expected! Despite this delay, Old Dominion never called me or Roy to inform us of the delay. Roy was the one that checked the status repeatedly throughout the day, and Old Dominion never gave a satisfactory answer. Several times we were told that the driver would be there within the hour, but we were repeatedly disappointed. When the driver finally arrived, we had incredible difficulty at that time because more apartment residents had returned and there wasn't as much maneuvering space for the truck and trailer. It was for this reason we had originally asked them to be there 7 hours earlier! The driver assisted in the unloading because he was desperate to get the truck out of there, but then he proceeded to toss my things and had no respect for my possessions. He didn't even realize that I was the owner, and when he did, he modified his behavior. I would expect a professional to be professional even if the owner isn't present. The second problem with quality is that the truck was damaged and water leaked inside from the storm. So far the damages to my possessions are nearly $500. The truck had either been damaged prior to or during the move, and the patching job was mediocre at best. Unfortunately, some of my more expensive possessions were in the area that was damaged. The driver was extremely unprofessional and even made jokes about how the truck shouldn't be leaking because it was new. The trailer was over a year old, and it was obvious that it did leak. As the owner of the damaged possessions, I didn't appreciate the driver's jokes, and I sure didn't think they were appropriate! I hope that Express Move-It is more diligent if they use Old Dominion in the future. While I realize that the problems with Old Dominion weren't the fault of Express Move-It, I gave them a B on quality because I would expect a moving company with so much experience to have run into a leaky trailer before. If I had realized that a trailer could leak like that, I would have insisted that my possessions in that area be protected in plastic. However, I would expect professional movers to know about that possibility and protect my things accordingly. Aside from this, my belongings were packed well, and I haven't come across further damage. I know that there was insurance on the trailer, and Old Dominion may be reimbursing me the full amount that was damaged, but this is additional time and effort on my part (to document and photograph the damages) that I hadn't expected to deal with when I'm trying to settle in a new job and city. For the amount I paid for the move, I am happy that the majority of my stuff made it safely, but I am disappointed in the damage to some of my more valuable possessions. Since they were paper products, if a leaky trailer was a possibility, some extra precautions should have been taken. Overall, I would use Express Move-It again, and I would hope to work with Roy again on a move if I do. But, I will insist that Old Dominion is not used, and I will insist that more of my belongings are protected against water in case of a leaky trailer.
