+ -1 moreMy daughter called for an appointment to get an estimate to repair a leaking tile roof. The appointment was for 0900. The estimator showed up at 1230. He was borderline rude, saying he would only give his inspection results to our son-in-law via phone. After several weeks of no call, he has called the office three times. In each case he was told they would contact the estimator who would return the call with the quote. No results thus far. Our opinion: "If you need your roof repaired, don't call Escalante Enterprises."

+ -1 moreUpon an insurance inspection it was discovered that a shingle was missing from the roof. My insurance adjuster recommended Escalente Roofing and Construction. I contacted Johnny Escalente and he came out on Jan.9th,2014 and gave me an estimate of $350.00 which I thought was abit high for one shingle, but he explained they had to replace the plywood base below too and buy an entire package of shingles. Due to a time factor it needed to be repaired immediately in order to be ready for a re-inspection by the insurance company,so I did not have time to get bids from other companies. He said they would do it on Sat. Jan. 11, 2014 at 11am. I called at 11:30 and they said they would be there in an hour as they were running late on another job. They arrived at 12:40pm and were finished at 1:30pm. The repair passed inspection.

Description of Work: We were very please with the estimate given to us. The company has been very professional in their presentation of their estimate for replacing our roof and we look forward to working with them. Escalante Enterpries show on time did an outstanding job. Think about this, we had or roof changed (or a new roof put on top of our house) there was some noise but not that much. They did an outstanding job. We were very satisfied and would gladly recomend Escalante Enterpries to replace your roof.

+ -1 moreThey did a good job. But they lack painting service so they didn't have flashing that was painted, so my flashing sheet is in sheet metal color. They referred another contractor to do the painting, but I just let it go.

+ -1 moreOverall we had a positive experience. When the roof was completed they had stated that they would do an inspection with my husband. We had to call two times to have they come out. Once they did come out it was discovered that there were several cracked tiles. They did come back and replace the cracked tiles. There were also some minor things that my husband request that they do over and they did do them over. Approx 4 months later the City of El Paso had their inspection and our roof did not pass inspection. To be honest I do not remember why it did not pass (it was something minor) , Escalante came out immediately to correct the problem and the CIty of El Paso passed our roof for inspection.
Description of Work: Due to a hail storm our entire tile roof was a total loss. Escalante is the company we choose to replace the tile roof on our home, as they were the ones that orinally put the roof on the house 10 years ago. We had 3 estimates, they were about 8,000 more but we wanted good quality.

+ -1 moreOverall I give them a good rating because of the persistent leaks. I give them an A for effort and perseverance. They were going to make this situation right. He gave me his word. They eventually eliminated the leak and we are happy. They paid for all internal repairs of the house...no questions asked. That was about $800. There is one day that the owner, Jose Escalante, when upstairs to my attic to find the leak. As he walked up the wooden stairs that is pulled down from my garage ceiling, he flat out broke the stairs as he began his ascent. He told me that he would pay for this. I eventually found someone to do the work and told Jose the amount. He said go ahead and move forward on this and for me to pay for it. He said that he will reimburse me. The work was done; I informed Jose and reimbursed me the full amount of $300. So I ended up getting a new ladder. In May 2010, we decided to replace our two evaporative coolers with refrigerated air. We called out EE to come out and quote for the removal of the roof jack and re-shingle the two areas. The cost would be $600. EE was available when we needed them because the a/c units were going to be placed on the roof. EE came out and completed the job in four hours as they stated that they would. One could never tell that evaporative coolers were on the roof. Great job! What was better was that EE never came to collect the $600. I thought it was a mistake on their part but they were very prompt in collecting the check before, which reminds me of something I forgot to mention. I never had to put money up front. Everything was paid when they finished the job. Albeit it leaked later but it sure did look good!!! I think that they went even further to please me by not charging me for this job. I have talked with Jose Escalante, owner of EE, several times at stores and while he is peddling his bike around the neighborhood. He could have mentioned to me about the money that he was owed but he never did. He is a man of his word and his good nature character comes out and gives one a feeling that one has known him for years. I will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I will not hesitate to use them in the future.
Description of Work: ESCALANTE ENTERPRISES (EE) provided on time and fast quotes. After a hail storm, EE was eventually picked for the job to repair the roof. They completed the job on time. Unfortunately, even though they tried to pick up the nails and associated large, thin metal washers, there were some remaining. We have dogs and we were concerned with possible injuries to them. I did one large sweep of the yard, both front and back, to pick up the metal objects. I think they should have did a better job on this because it did not take me too long to canvas the yard by myself...30 minutes. No other issue occurred for the first three weeks after the job was completed. EE was the original roofer in 1992 of our house. No leaks, no issues over the entire period between 1992-2008. Unfortunately, this was not the same case after they replace the roof in 2008. The roof leaked at one of the skylights (there are two). EE was informed that afternoon and came out and reapplied roofing cement around both skylights. The roof leaked two days later after another rain. This time the leak created a bubble in the ceiling where the water accumulated. The other skylight leaked as well. EE stated that they will fix this issue, i.e., they will make it right. Repairs included additional roofing cement, silicone caulking and more tar on the roof. We felt that after two months and a couple of rains, leak problems were solved. So we had the inside repaired and painted. Unfortunately, on the next rain the roof leaked again. To make a long story short, this was going on for about ten more leaks. Each time they came out promptly and tried to repair the leak. It was baffling to them to a point where they were asking other roofing companies what they may have been missing. EE eventually came out and re-roof the section around and above both skylights. We felt that that was the fix. The next rain came and no leak by the skylights...yea! Unfortunately, it moved to the east side window sill. For the next four rains, EE came out promptly to try and fix the leaks. Damage was inside the house again, e.g., sheetrock repair, texture, caulk and paint required. After almost losing my patience and requesting an entire re-roofing job or give my money back, they decided to re-roof the area around the chimney. It rained three weeks after the chimney re-roof...no leaks at the window sill!!! But it moved to a location that was totally different. EE came out the next morning and the roofing person looked on the roof in the area where he thought the leak would be. He saw a shingle that was torn. He went to this torn shingle and applied an excess amount of tar under this shingle. He was confident that that fixed the problem. It is August 1, 2011 and no leaks at all!

+ -1 moreThe total price including the amount that was covered by the insurance was $9000. I had some extra things done above and beyond my insurance coverage. They have been in the business for a long time in El Paso. They had a very good rating with the Better Business Bureau. They were very good in working with the home owner as to how to do the work. I was able to work with them. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I had a roof replaced by Escalante Enterprises -EL PS in January. It house is 37 old and it had the wood decking on the roof that was replaced. I had new decking put up before adding the shingles to it.
