Affordable Landscaping

This was not a good experience. Workers walked off the job but luckily the job did get completed. Also, the flagtone was stained with mortar and they got a lot of concrete on the flagstone. I spent 4 hours cleaning the flagstone to remove the mortar but the concrete remained. I noticed that some of the flagstone sounds hollow so, it is only a matter of time before they crack. I spent way too much time overseeing the quality of the work, which means I missed work. The owner consistently asked for more money for supplies. In the end, I paid the workers and deducted it from what I owed the owner just to make sure no more workers walked off the job. The workers complained that they didn't have enough materials to keep busy. My yard was trashed, they broke bricks off the retaining wall, and got concrete everywhere. They did clean up but didn't clean the flagstone or the retaining wall with all the concrete on it. I have pieces of mortar and concrete everywhere. This was my first experience with hiring a contractor and I have learned a valuable lesson.
