He did not perform any work for us and our reply to him was:Thank You! The grade provided does not not indicate work performed, but the lack of!
Description of Work: Contacted company and Charles came out to look at property for installation of patio pavers and answered initial questions onsite. He provided booklet and said he would like to have our business and provided a estimated quote that day. We asked for a detail work description/ and cost via email. On the next day, he emailed us a general description of work and cost . Upon further inquiry and several email exchanges, we found him to be very prompt in responding to emails and questions, but found it somewhat odd after asking for insurance information and a breakdown of cost, his reply was: Thank you very much for considering our company for your patio project, but with the work-load we have right now, we are going to back out of the bid process.

Response from Virginia Outdoor Living
I never gave her a formal estimate. Three days after looking her project over I emailed her (because I was not given a phone number) a "to scale" drawing of what I thought she was looking for based on our initial conversation and a price and exactly what that price included (and that was exactly the day I had told her she would have that information). She responded by saying that they needed a detailed break down of material, labor, equipment, overhead and profit. They would also require at least 5 job referrals, a copy of my insurance and contractors license and a list of all personnel and subs who would be working on her project. She had also stated that other companies were bidding this job and that they were including other scopes of work that I was not interested in doing. After giving out a to scale drawing I am not willing to give out some of the information she was requesting. If we are going to be doing the job I will give out what ever information about myself, my company or the job the customer wants but I will not give out all of that information in the bidding process. After four or five emails back and forth (and four other big jobs being awarded to us) I replied to her that with our current work load I did not wish to continue with the bidding process and that I wished her the best of luck with her project. About a week later I see that this review is posted on Angie's List. Upon seeing this review I emailed her back with a copy of my insurance declarations page showing how we carry 2,000,000 of Liability insurance and my contractors license number which shows that we are a Class "B" Contractor in good standing in the state of Virginia. I also politely asked her to come back on here and explain that she had in fact received the information I sent her and that my reputation is Very important to me and that I would rather turn a job down rather that try to preform when we are overloaded with work and possibly produce a job that I am not completely happy with! Thank You, Charles B. Whilden Virginia Outdoor Living
