MEEKS AIR CONDITIONING & REFRIGERATION

Early one Sunday morning in mid-July, I realized my outside AC unit was not working. I thought sure my compressor had gone out. The temperature in the house was 86 degrees. I checked Angie's list and found Jim Meeks listed. I live in the country, and his shop was 25 miles away, so I wasn't sure he'd come. Many rural repair people are reluctant to travel far to reach people's home. I called Jim around 10 AM and left a message. He returned my call within 30 minutes. It was Sunday, and he was working on another project, so initially he referred me to another person whom he said was honest and trustworthy. Within 15 minutes after we talked, he called back and said he'd come over "because everyone needs his air conditioner to work" (The temperature was supposed to hit 100 degrees that day). Jim arrived within 30 minutes and began to check out the system. He checked everything thoroughly - both the outdoor unit and the indoor unit of my electrical system - until he located the problem The outdoor unit was not receiving a signal from the thermostat. When he looked at the outside unit again, he discovered that the wires had somehow been broken. He capped the wires and then taped them with electrical tape. Then he attached the wires with ties to an adjoining pipe, so they couldn't break again. He completed the entire job within 45 minutes and left me with a cool house! I didn't have to replace my condensing unit after all! Jim was professional, competent, and efficient. He took the time to find the problem, and he showed me what he was doing every step of the way. I feel he's very honest and dependable, so I would be glad to use his services again.

First bid wanted $1500 to replace coil, however, they tried to talk me into replacing the entire HVAC heat pump system instead for approximately $4700. Jim gave me a bid for $1000 to replace the evaporator coil and I had him do the work. He said everything else was in good working order and I did not need a complete system replacement. He did an excellent job and as previously stated, he said a dryer/filter should have been installed on initial installation of the HVAC. He installed it and did not charge for it. The entire job was done very satisfactory and everything was cleaned up at end of job. I will use Jim again if needed in the future.
