Old School Builders did quality work in a professional and courteous manner. Jimmie, the owner, was present at each stage with his subs and was friendly and helpful with questions and planning. Our job was an addition to our house and we could not be happier with the result.

I could not be happier with the work by Old School Builders. Communication with Jimmy and Jeremy was excellent throughout the project and they are both just unfailingly friendly and professional. The contract and supporting documents that Jimmy provided were thorough and easy to understand. The cost of the project was as stated in the contract-no "surprise" up charges-plus in spite of several days of weather delays, job was finished ahead the original estimated schedule.
Description of Work: My project involved renovation/restoration of a detached stucco garage that was originally built in 1929, with a later addition of a loft structure. There was extensive old termite damage throughout that required rebuilding much of the support structure and old unsafe electrical that was removed and brought up to code. Old School removed the loft and restored the original roof line along with a new roof. A new garage door was framed in and the stucco repair blends seamlessly with the old stucco texture.

It was a pleasure to work with you! Attention to detail, willingness to help with all the changes. So much care was taken to protect and keep clean. Each subcontractor was extremely professional and did excellent work. My bathroom has been transformed into my dream spa retreat! Jeremy was a delight to work with, professional, and a true craftsman!
Description of Work: Tear out of bathroom tub, shower. Replace tub, shower with jetted tub including new plumbing, electrical, sheetrock, tile, fixtures. Couldn't be more satisfied with the cost and the quality of the project. I received three bids and Old School was right in the middle. Excellent communication throughout the project, great problem solving as issues (inevitably) arise and willingness to seek mutually satisfactory outcomes; quality focused and customer oriented throughout the project. I highly recommend Old School Builders.

Old School Builders is exactly the type of people you want working at your home. Jimmy takes the time to listen to what you want, makes suggestions when needed, and does exactly what he says he is going to do. Jimmy and Jeremy are dependable, conscientious, and respectful of your home. They outline the details of the job in the contract and bill according to completion which is by far the fairest approach. Jimmy had no issues with me purchasing some of the materials on my own, but was also willing to supply whatever was needed. I had two projects completed - replacement of both porch ceilings and posts with cedar and a primary bath remodel. I could not be happier with the results of both. The results are beautiful. I would use Old School Builders again for my home projects and highly recommend them to anyone needing a reputable contractor.

Old School Builders did amazing work installing new ceilings and posts on both the front and back porches of my home. They look absolutely beautiful. I will always reach out to Jimmy and Jeremy when I need things done. Their work is outstanding, their price is fair, and they are a pleasure to work with.

Jimmy and his crew did a great job on our Main Bath remodel. The tile workers kept the work area clean and did an expert job in the shower. Using a laser level to make sure all the grout lines straight was a nice thing to see. Jimmy and his crew even worked on the weekends to get the job done on time.

The kitchen remodel with Old School Builders was a very fantastic and pleasant experience. Jimmy Leake came over and we went over the concept we had for the kitchen. Jimmy explained the stages and things that would be done and the timeline. Old School Builders presented great documents of the contract and scope of work. The contract was presented in stages and payments and the scope of work was a clear explanation of the stages. Communication was always there from Jimmy and his son Jeremy on any unforeseen choices that hadn't been made up front (and there is a lot! i.e. paints, light placements, etc.) A great contracting experience starts out with both great documents and communications. Thank you! I'm a very detail type person and this is the way Old School Builders work. There was no grumbling or attitude on anything that was asked about or asked to be taken care of. In any project, changes happened. Change orders were presented and very reasonable (we added more lights and tiles). An ordered door had been damaged in shipping and Jimmy went out of town to get the replacement from the factory and kept the job going forward. They accomplished everything in a reasonable time frame with taking any shortcuts. Jeremy Leake did a fantastic job of the cabinet work. Sanded with detailed, primed, painted and painted again when needed. The look of cabinets afterwards were amazing. New hinges and new pulls (none before) were perfectly done, Swing, straight and pull mounting were all centered. We had a water heater relocated out of a kitchen closet. We had that closet combined with the pre existing pantry closet. All was framed for a very large pantry, folding doors and closet maid shelves. Counter tops were cut down, formica siding scraped off and granite installed. A single drain sink installed and new soux faucet. The redesigned plumbing was totally functional in draining and NO LEAKS! Switches were replaced and switches added for more lights. Beautiful recessed LED light were added with decor switches. ( Jimmy had cautioned me that 3 counter lights were too many, went with 2. He was right!) New window sill for the sink window with tile wrapped. We had used 4" claros silver travertine tumbled tiles. Originally the tile was ended at the upper cabinet bottom but we like the tile work so much, we asked and had Jimmy and Jeremy tiled the rest of the wall above and to the side of the cabinets. Beautiful! Old School Builders did all the different jobs themselves. All was done to building code and detail. I really appreciated that fact too of now having a bunch of sub contractors in our house. thank you for a wonderful job!
Description of Work: soffits removed. Electrical wires rerouted thru the faceplates / headers. cabinets sanded, primed, and repainted. new hinges and pulls. counter tops and Formica siding removed. counter top cut down. Wall tiled totally around cabinets. A new wall mount stainless range hood (cosmos) hung and vent and electrical taken care of. oven cabinets and refrigerator cabinets (the ones you don't use) were taken out. LED lighting replaced existing lights. New lights added also. sink installed / garbage disposal and new faucet and window sill. closets combined, reframed for one large closet. Folding doors added and shelfing. Floor tiles were added for continuous look in the new pantry.

Jimmy & Jeremy with Old School Builders are my go-to renovation project guys! They have done work on an investment property (remodeling and adding a MIL suite), adding a freestanding office in my backyard and most recently a bathroom expansion and rebuild of a jack and jill bathroom. They do great work and have access to qualified and able tradesman so you can get a turnkey job. Highly recommended.

Met with Jimmy to discuss my bathroom remodel who was very helpful and friendly. His son Jeremy did the majority of the work and we could not be more pleased. The bathtub, vanity, and floor, were all removed and replaced. Wallpaper was removed and the walls painted. The work is solid and the results are beautiful. Jeremy is a very skilled, polite and professional young man. We look forward to future jobs with Old School Builders LLC. Thanks Jimmy and Jeremy

I'm 100% pleased with my new garage and greenhouse. Jimmy, his son Jeremy and his subcontractors all did an excellent job. Jimmy and Jeremy are super knowledgeable and creative thinkers!! I've hired them a few times over the years and it seems all my projects require thinking outside the box. Not a problem for these guys! I've also been totally impressed with their dedication to perfection and communication skills - both with subcontractors and myself. They're currently doing another major renovation project at my house, which I'll submit a review for soon. If 10 stars were possible they definitely deserve it!

I’m very happy with the work that Old School Builders did on my remodel project. My 6-year old granddaughter says I have a new house inside my whole house! They gave me new bathrooms and a new kitchen, removed popcorn and then repaired the ceilings, installed new floors and interior doors, and painted it all. They did it all during the pandemic and were willing to work with me to keep traffic through my house to a minimum. Jimmy and Jeremy are good people, and I really enjoyed getting to know them. On top of that, they do great work!

Outcome: very positive experience with Old School Builders and would recommend them to family and friends. Old School Builders was responsive and communicative throughout the entire process (email, texts). I received a timely quote for the repair work; had no issues with my insurance claim; work began on time as scheduled; and the job was completed when promised (about a week). We are very happy with the quality of the work and the way the work was conducted. Truly a hassle-free experience and these guys are super friendly.
Description of Work: I hired Old School Builders to repair water damage in garage and one bedroom from a water heater leak. Repairs included: removing and reinstalling 2 water heaters and repairing areas around them (walls, trim, base for water heaters); removing and replacing damaged drywall and baseboard in both rooms; taping, texturing and painting both rooms; and removing and replacing carpet in bedroom. Work was done at a second home in the Austin area.

Really really well. Old School Builders were really good. They got the foundation poured and framing up within a couple of weeks. And the whole house built fully (drywall, painting, etc) within 2 months once we sorted out our permitting. The work was great. They were in touch with us every step of the way and the product is perfect. Thank you!

Our complete master bath project went very well. The work area was kept very clean and Jimmy and Jeremy took great care in completing the bath to our specs. We were treated very fair on the cost of materials and were not limited to just a few products. We will be asking them to bid on our kitchen renovation in a few months.

Old School Builders LLC Driftwood TX was an A+ contractor. My wife & I had done quite a lot of re-modeling work with other contractors before we found out about Old School Builders - a Father / Son team of Jimmy & Jeremy Leake. They were head and shoulders above all the other general contractors we worked with. We didn't have formal plans for our room addition, just some ideas. They took our ideas and turned them into a beautiful room - everything we wanted. They readily accommodated our requested changes at a reasonable cost, and the project came in on time and on budget. They actually showed up when they said they were going to, did what they said they were going to do, and at the price quoted! Quality of work and attention to detail was excellent. What a breath of fresh air! Jimmy & Jeremy did most of the work themselves, and they actively managed the few sub-contractors they hired. They respected our privacy and property and actually cleaned up, not leaving our home looking like a construction zone. An incredibly good company to work with. Honest & trustworthy - the only contractor we gave complete run of our house to. I'm already planning to use Old School for our next project. Won't call anyone else.

Both buildings were built to high standards as if they were permanent dwellings. Because the project was extensive, sub contractors were also used and those were sort of hit and miss. But Old School builders did a fantastic job of communicating, keeping their promises, and performing the work in a professional manner. I would definitely recommend them and I will use them again on my next project.

Jimmy and his son Jeremy did an excellent job. Jimmy puts customer service first and was always very fast to respond to text messages, emails, and phone calls. He has a lot of experience and knows what can and can't be done, how to approach a problem, and schedule things to be done in the order that makes the most sense. His son Jimmy is a highly skilled craftsman, punctual and a self starter. They make a great team and we're always interested in doing things the right way. I really had no idea who to hire and relied on the reviews on Angie's list to start contacting people. I chose Old School Builders and I'm glad I did!

Jimmy was the lowest bid of the three I got, but he also asked the best questions and seemed the most interested in what I was trying to accomplish. He's an honest guy and very understanding and patient. Scope changes are inevitable in a build like this and he totally took them in stride. He had some great suggestions along the way, many of which saved me some money. Jimmy gave me the cost up front in an SOW and a schedule of payments based on accomplishing certain milestones. It was easy to follow and there was never a misunderstanding of what I owed at any point. He had a list of all of my scope changes and the cost associated with each, so there was no surprise at the end. His son Jeremy is his right hand man and spent a lot of time working on the project. He was always polite with a great disposition, and laughed at my jokes...which always helps. Jeremy has a great work ethic and is going to go a long way in this business. I can't say enough good things about these guys. I've got some other projects I'm looking at in the future, and Jimmy will definitely get my business.
Description of Work: My MIL is coming to live with us and we needed more room for her. I had Jimmy and his team renovate my garage, converting it into a mother-in-law suite for her. As the garage was our primary point of entry/exit, the build included a hallway running from our existing utility room to a new backdoor. It's kind of a mudroom basically. This left enough space for a very large bedroom with a full bath and a large closet. It's almost bigger than our master in fact. The interior looks fantastic and with the sound dampening insulation he put in, this will be the quietest room in the house. We opted to add a split A/C system so she can have it any temp she likes with no impact on us. She even has her own door where she can come and go as she likes Jimmy was able to completely redo the exterior to where it matched the rest of the house. It looks like it was all part of the original build. Same type of window, window casing, siding, paint, etc. It looks just amazing. The existing electrical work was a nightmare. The previous owner had added a large game room on top of the garage and the wiring was a joke. He found more code violations than you can shake a stick at, and he fixed them all. We're now solidly in code. Other aspects to the build: Jimmy had to break the foundation to make room for the bathroom plumbing. This was a couple of seriously loud days, let me tell you. My dogs were fit to be tied, but they survived. He then brought in a plumber to plumb the bath and to run a line to our existing septic tank. Once that was done, we had to bring the floor of the garage up level with the rest of the foundation. This was a big undertaking and took a lot of concrete, but it turned out well. He brought in a flooring guy to lay the tiles I had picked out and he did a super job. Everything lined up nicely.
