I had ProElectric come to install a main cutoff switch to the breaker box (the house is old and was built without one). The electirican showed up at the door and walked through the house. We are in the middle of a complete remodel so the walls are completely open with the wiring visible. As I am telling him that I only want him to install a switch in the breaker box, he interrupts me to tell me that I have to rewire the entire house and it will cost roughly $4000.00. I refocus him and take him to the breaker box outside. He insists that I need a new breaker box because the switch simply won't fit into the one that is there. The cost for the new box was going to be $750. I ask a couple of questions and when he realizes that I know he is being dishonest, suddenly the switch will fit and the cost is reduced to $275. He was there for about 15 minutes total. I feel that if he had just come in and done the job I asked for the experience would have been completely different. He worked quickly and the work was good.

They were reasonably priced, showed up on time and were careful to clean up their mess. They also washed the outlet covers and things like that so they were professional. They did not spend a lot of time doing the work so I probably will use them again.
Description of Work: I used ProLectric to replace an outside electrical outlet and troubleshoot my other outside electrical outlets. They also rewired an electric outlet in one of my bedrooms that was not functioning properly.

The two Pro-lectric electricians provided exceptional service. They arrived within the time frame provided by their office, introduced themselves, listened to our statement re. the problem, and told us what they would do. As they worked, each man kept us informed of the work being done and the outcome. When the problem was identified in the attic (two disconnected wires not in a box), one electrician explained what they had found and what needed to be done. Their work was efficient; and when they completed the job, they cleaned up the three areas and moved the furniture back for us. Throughout their work both men were patient and very respectful, and they maintained highly professional demeanors. Their bill was reasonable, and it was exactly what they told us the cost would be. We will continue to use Pro-lectric for any future electrical needs for my mother's home and for our home in Clear Lake and will recommend them highly to our friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: My mother had no electricity in her living room. The electricians checked the breakers, electrical outlets and light switch panel in the living room, told us there were no problems with these and explained that they would need to troubleshoot to determine the loss of electricity at a cost of $174 (in addition to the $49 service call). They discovered the problem was two disconnected wires (which were not in a box) in the attic. They completed their work efficiently and professionally.

The resprsentative was friendly on the phone, was flexible and understanding when I needed to reschedule. He showed up on time, was very professional and nice (even played ball with my 4 dogs for awhile). Pointed out several things that previous contractors had not pointed out regarding the projects we were attempting and was quickly able to give me a reasonable response. They followed up with a very nice thank you note and request for feedback on their own. Overall i was very impressed and am highly likely to use them in the future.
Description of Work: Proelectric came to give us a quote on several electric projects we have planned over the coming months. The representative was wonderful- very responsive, very friendly, and his bid came in below others that we have received. I felt that they listened closely to what I wanted, helped me understand why they were making the recommendations that they were, and were very fair in their price. We are highly likely to use proelectric once we are ready to begin the projects.

The electrician, Jimmy Bankston was great! Checked out our electrical panels to insure that all our breakers were operating correctly and explained everything to us. When I called in for the appointment, they were able to schedule time the next day. I was told the electrician would call us 1/2 hr before his arrival time, which he did. They extended us a 10% courtesy discount because of the referral through Angie's List. I appreciate this company's professionalism and honesty and would highly recommend them to others.
Description of Work: We thought we needed a breaker replaced. Turned out that all we needed was the replacement of 2 GFCI outdoors and the repair of a GFCI in our home.

I own a home built in 1959 which had no outlets in the bathrooms and pull chain lights in the closets. The electrical panel did not have sufficient amps to add the outlets to the panel, so the electrical panel had to be upgrade. The connection to the house also were never upgraded and required a higher overhead service. The owner Jimmy performed the evaluation for the estimate for the work I wanted performed. He was very pleasant and professional. Since this was to be a pretty expensive job, I obtained three estimates from companies selected from angie's list. All of the companies had very good reviews, I picked prolectric because their reviews and price estimate being in the middle. Overall they get a "C" because they did not provided a walkthrough of their work, did not follow the work requested from the estimate (I paid for two GFCIs) and were not properly informed as to what needed to be done with permits/centerpoint. Two prolectric employees were to arrive between 8-9 am on Thursday. They arrived around 10am due to traffic and getting lost. After working on the panel for a couple of hours, they had to leave because the did not have a correct part (for about an hour). My electrical panel is outside my home and the other work involved being in the attic, I was concerned that they would be working in the heat of the day. Considering they physically evaluated the job requested for the estimate, the late arrival and the lack of correct equipment made me feel like they were not prepared to for the job. My concerns were correct, at 7pm they packed up to leave and gave me the bill without a review of their work. I initiated review the work before I paid, the overhead was not raised to the new connection, only one GFCI outlet was installed (the other outlet was a regular outlet fed off the GFCI installed),the phone panel was detached from the outside wall and the new panel was not labeled (when I asked they stated it was labeled to the extent it was labeled before). I expressed concerns with the issues, he stated that the overhead connection to the house was old and I needed to contact my electrical company to have it connected (I contacted centerpoint while he waited to confirm, who just referred me to my electrical service provider. Being that it was after 5pm, I think this is the electrical companies standard answer because this was wrong). When I asked about the outlet, he stated that it did not matter because it was connected to the other GFCI. The telephone box he stated was the responsibility of the phone company (the phone company did not remove it from the wall, they removed it!). One of the closets only had a small issue which was the new light fixture was a little right of the old and showed green paint from the previous color of the wall. This was not a big issue but I should not of had to discover this myself in a self initiated walk through, prolectric should have pointed this out to me. Due to the late hour and I did not wish to argue with them. The next day I called my electrical provider, who put me on a two way call with centerpoint energy. It turns out, that the work needed to be inspected before a temporary permit could be sent to centerpoint energy to initiate the work. I called the city of houston to ask them to send a copy of the temporary permit and they stated that the paper work to request the inspection from the electrician had not been submitted. I called Jimmy, the owner, to asked about the inspection request and to provide him a punch list of the issues. The inspection request he was about to do since the work ended late the day before, granted I called @ 9am. The other items he was giving me the same script I heard from the workers, so I just told him I wanted the work done I requested and the old straps removed from the old connections left by them. He could not have someone fix the problems that day, so I had to schedule it for Saturday. Saturday they removed the straps left on the house from the old connection, installed another GFCI outlet, and labeled the panel. So, they did fix the issues but they wasted a huge amount of my time between the calling centerpoint and them returning on saturday. They should have provided a walkthrough of their work, followed the work requested from the estimate (I paid for two GFCIs) and been more informed as to what needed to be done with permits/centerpoint.
Description of Work: Changed pull chain lights in four closets to switches on wall, added two GFCI outlets (one per bathroom) and upgraded the electrical panel and overhead service.

Response from ProLectric LLC
This is Jimmy. I understand how frustrating it can be dealing with these issues and I apologized before (as in our previous conversation) and am apologizing again now for the inconvenience that you went through. During our visit with the estimate I thoroughly discussed the permitting process with you. My electricians that worked at your house should have followed the estimate to a "T". They should have installed the second GFCI receptacle, removed the old strap on the wall and do a walk through with you (company policy). The call in for the inspection was being done when you called. My electricians left your house at 7:50pm that night. They didn't get back to the shop until around 9pm. Their paperwork was on the top of the list to get processed and when you called the next morning I told you that I had your paperwork in front of me. Everything else kind of comes with owning an old house. As per our conversation the service wire was not raised to the new overhead because the old loop connection was extremely corroded and would have completely broken had we tried to raise it. We do not have access to that part. Only the power companies have that loop to prevent people tampering with their lines and equipement. The hour that they were gone was to get more breakers and eat lunch. You had one oversized breaker and two breakers had more than one wire connected to them. We have to connect only one wire per breaker per code. If everything was correct then they would have only been gone 30 minutes for lunch. I really strive to make all of our customers 100% satisfied with our work and make them happy. After our last phone conversation I thought you were satisfied with the work done. Yes the permitting and inspection process is a little slow but the City of Houston pushes alot of permits each day and the inspectors are trying to keep up with the work being completed. It's really kind of amazing that they can do it in the timeframes that they do but once I call in to get my work inspected it's out of my hands

They have came out twice in the last month. They are very good people. The first time he came out he fixed a switch for us and he let me know what to do about a pantry light that was a fire hazard. He told me what I would need to buy and then he came back to do the installation. He was very professional and friendly. He is very willing to do what is needed. I called Prolectric for an estimate to add some circuits to my workshop. The phone was answered promptly and courteously then a date and time was set. Jimmy showed up at my convenience which was on a Saturday and we discussed the job in detail. Once a price was agreed to the date to proceed was set and Jimmy's crew showed up when he said they would. These guys were considerate of my property and asked questions when necessary to make sure they were doing what I wanted. They worked diligently in the 90 plus degree heat and stayed on site until the job was finished. Because of the nature of the project some parts were not available at the time the work was being performed. The parts were ordered that day and the electrician showed up the next to finish the job off. The workmanship is excellent and it is a nice installation. Thanks to Josh, Johnny, Reuben and Jimmy. I appreciate it guys.

This was a great experience. The Prolectric technician called 30 minutes before his appointment time to let me know he was on the way. He arrived on time, in a marked vehicle and he was in uniform. The technician was courteous and took care of the problem quickly. The balasts that were needed to repair the fixtures were on his truck. He also was careful to clean up the job site when he finished. We now have light in the kitchen again. I will definitely use this company again.

Prolectric provided great service. We've needed them twice since we closed on our house 2 weeks ago - once to put GFCI outlets in the garage and once to find out why we were getting shocks when we tried to hook up the unplugged washing machine. Both times they provided same day services, were on time, were very pleasant and fixed the problems quickly and for a reasonable price.

This is the 2nd time in the past couple of months I have had Prolectric out to my home. This time it was on extremely short notice. I was expecting a painter to come the very next day and I decided I wanted to have an electrical outlet put in the room before he showed up. I called and spoke with Jimmy, the owner, who said he would send someone over that same afternoon. This made me very happy!!! Reuben called me around noon to alert me that he and Josh would be there shortly.. Because we are getting the house ready to put on the market, I have recently had Prolectric out to my home several times. I like the fact that it is always Reuben and Josh who show up. I have gotten to know them and feel extremely comfortable with them in my home. They both work very hard and are extremely polite. I also like the fact that Prolectric does not charge by the hour. They only charge a dispatch fee and then have set fees for each of their services. They have a printed sheet with all the fees clearly printed on it for the customer to see. If it is something not on the sheet, Reuben puts in a call to Jimmy, the owner, who gives him an immediate price by phone. Plus they give Angie List members an automatic 10& discount.

They are on time and are professional. I feel their prices are fair. I will be using them for all future electrical work that I may need.
Description of Work: Installed light fixture in bedroom along with junkson box in attic for $180. Installed light fixture in kitchen for $150. Added GFCI plug in garage for $138. Plus, came back later at my request to relocate kitchen light fixture for $75.

Once I determined there was a problem (on a week-end) I found the company on Angies List, went to the company's website, and sent an email detailing the problem. I followed this up with a phone call on Monday morning and was able to schedule the appointment for that week. The Electrician that arrived (on time) was the owner of the company, Jim Bankston. He was personable, experienced, professional, and worked very hard to address the vent problem after he replaced the GFI. This company will be my "go-to" electrical company of choice from now on.
Description of Work: The electrician replaced the GFI on one of my exterior plug-ins. He was also going to replace the vent fan in one of my bathrooms but I bought the wrong size. Determining this required him to search under the attic insulation to find the fixture - this took time and was very hot. I will call him again when I find the correct size replacement.

We bought an older home with no exhaust fans in the bathrooms, and dated appliances. Johnny came to our house, looked at what we wanted to have done, and gave us an estimate with reasonable cost. A few months later, we scheduled a day for the work. The crew arrived on time, were capable and knowledgeable, as well as being courteous and clean. They quietly went about their work, continually asking me if fixtures were exactly where I wanted them, and telling me of any detail that might make a difference. We are very pleased and will use them again.
