Stenson Landscaping did an outstanding job on a complicated project in my front yard. I was looking to have the following done: 1) repair all existing stone landscaping walls (which were in bad shape); 2) demo the old front walkway and pour a new one with a different pattern of stairs; 3) build stone retaining walls down the sides of the front walkway and across much of the front of the yard, and have those walls match the existing stonework; 4) fill behind the walls with gravel and filter fabric for drainage and fill dirt for planting; 5) update all irrigation to the new layout and ground level, including installing drip irrigation lines for future planter bowls. Stenson did an outstanding job at the project. They worked to detailed specifications and designs that I provided them, and were open to feedback and willing to make changes on the fly as needed. The stonemasonry in particular is outstanding - the walls are very solid, built with rebar and concrete footers, and really look incredible. The change in the look of my front yard is night and day. I'm thrilled with the outcome of the project and would absolutely hire them again.

Sent three emails to Stenson, no one contacted me after the first contact. I followed up and asked them to call me with an upcoming appointment. I guess that they have more than enough business and don't need mine. Sorry, I will not use Angie's list in the future if I cannot get people to respond to my second email and third.

"[Member Name Removed], We did not refuse - we simply do not do estimates on REPAIRS and we explained this to you in an email prior to you posting this negative review. Our policy is that in order to evaluate a sprinkler system we have to charge by the hour. There is no way to know the extent of the needed repairs until we get in there and start working on it. We do not perform that service for free. Below is our email exchanges with you. June 11, 2020 Travis (Stenson): Thank you for reaching out to us about your sprinkler system project. Unfortunately, we do not give estimates for sprinkler repairs on existing systems. However, we do “irrigation service calls”. Service calls are billed by the hour. $75 covers first 30 minutes of the crew being there to address the issues, and then it is $90 hr. + parts after that. Please let me know if you have any questions and/or would like to be put on our schedule for this to be done. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you, June 11, 2020 [Member Name Removed] you}: Sorry not interested in working with any company that does not have the confidences to give estimate."

Matt came over to review the project and was very personable and professional. He promised a proposal within a few days. I have had to follow up three times for the proposal and have yet to see one and it's been three weeks. I thought Stenton valued my business opportunity. Other landscapers have followed up with proposals as promised so this is a no brainer.

We were looking for an all-inclusive landscaping company to completely redo our backyard, which had been a muddy, poorly graded safety hazard for nearly a year following concrete removal and extensive sewer work in early 2018. Among those I contacted to get an estimate for the work, Matt was the quickest to schedule an appointment, and he returned a detailed estimate to me in less than a week. His original price was a little higher than we could afford, but he was willing to work within our budget so he altered/deleted a few items to meet our financial needs. Even so, his estimates for all aspects of the project were exceptionally reasonable and he was one of the few who treated the job as something worth his time (most others gave me the impression that it was a 'small job' and not one they wanted or needed). While there were a few unexpected interruptions due to poor weather, the crews were able to complete the job in a timely manner, which was certainly impressive. However, what impressed me most was the dedication and care they put into their work. For example, they took nearly 5 full days to prep the ground, install the underlayment, and place the pavers for our brand new travertine patio, which is both stunning to look at and practical all at the same time. We have had countless positive comments from neighbors and friends with several people asking for Matt's information so they can have the same kind of patio installed in their yards. Furthermore, Matt and his crew were exceptionally considerate of my requests as the job progressed, making adjustments along the way to meet my expectations. Those who saw the yard before the crews started their work are simply amazed by the transformation. I cannot say enough good things about this company and highly recommend them for any landscaping project!

Everything went in accordance with our agreement. I had an issue with the color variance between the old and new mortar and a Supervisor came out to apply dirt to blend colors; this was at no additional charge. I was very satisfied.

In every dimension they wildly exceeded my greatest expectations. The stone work was perfection. They trenched and set each stone in concrete and then applied the mortar. After the mortar had set up they hand brushed and smoothed each joint. They had come by the week befor and killed all the grass. They removed the grass, added top soil and tilled it in. They sought my input on plant location and made sure I was satisfied and installed 2-3 inches of mulch when done. As for the Palram polycarbonate roof on my patio the installation was highly detailed and the toughest part was trimming the 45 foot curved edge. Travis said this was his 40th install but his toughest challenge finishing out the curved edge. All I can say is he nailed it. He even went back and hand trimmed the edge in order to remove the flashing leaving a perfect edge. Once he was done he water tested the roof to ensure there were no leaks. Nine years earlier they had installed a stone & boulder landscaing along the front of my house. Over time some of the mortar joints had cracked. They removed the cracked mortar and reploaced it at no additional charge. This is a company that takes pride in their work and it shows in everything they do from design, to installation to clean up. They covered details I would not have even thouht to address. I didn't take roofing pictures or the front stone work but it turned out great. Three of my neighbors were so impressed they are getting bids for their yards.

Matt was responsive to our concerns about what type of grass would grow in shady areas where we had problems before. He listened and expressed willingness to return at any time if troubles arose. He provided detailed direction for proper care for the best results. When a sprinkler head issue arose, he replaced it quickly as a part of the original contract without any haggling or bad feelings. Everything, especially the customer service, was excellent.

I am so happy with the quality of the entire project. When I called, I was greeted by Matt Stenson, owner, who pulled over while driving to take my information and set my consultation appointment. He came out the next day to start my quote. He was on time, professional, and knowledgeable. He was able to help shape the project with some of the ideas we had. Upon receiving the quote, I noticed everything had a line item so I could pick and choose what I wanted to do. The cost for the work was very reasonable and when I decided what I wanted, Matt passed me off to the project manager, Travis, who was equally professional and knowledgeable. I had a set start date and everything went smoothly. It was quick and easy. The guys were awesome and worked extremely hard to make sure I was happy. I definitely am and will use them again when I want the rest of the work done that I didn't do this time. I highly recommend and encourage anyone looking for this service to contact Stenson Landscape.

Poorly. An appointment was set for Friday 23 March at 12:00. Ensured I was home all morning, but the company was a no-show for the appointment and didn’t bother to call or contact in any way. I understand things may come up, but the professional courtesy of a phone call is expected.

I have not hired this company yet (still working on the budget) but I wanted to write a review for them on my first impressions. When I called, Matt picked up the phone right away and scheduled my appointment. He was driving at the time and pulled over just to take my information. I was highly impressed by this as it made me feel special as a customer. Next, when it was time for my appointment, Matt was exactly on time. He listened to what we wanted, made thoughtful suggestions where I was not sure about something, and made a line item for each product/service so we could decide what we wanted to move forward with and what we wanted to wait on. Upon reviewing the estimate, my husband and I wanted to modify slightly so I emailed Matt and he was very quick to respond and we have been working things out together over email. I like this very much. Assuming the budget works out I will definitely be hiring Stenson Landscaping, Inc. and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for landscaping services. I will write another review when the work has been completed but I have no doubt that I will be very happy with the results.

They did a great job removing the dated, scraggly landscaping, stones, and flagstone pavers around my pool, and replacing with new bushes, and nicer stone walkways. They also added some landscape lights which look great. Matt and his crew were punctual, professional, and the price was very good. I asked him to drop off a few more bushes to fill in some spots I feel weren't full enough, and they showed up exactly when he promised. Overall, a very good experience.

Stenson Landscaping just completed an eight month "head-to-toe" landscaping project on our yard. I didn't want to waste a minute commenting on how absolutely wonderful they have been to work with! We had a massive project - a complete gut job on a 30 year old yard. Everything was torn out - crumbling railroad tie retaining walls and steps, over-grown shrubbery, worn down hardscape and driveway, bulging pavers and barely functional sprinklers, and replaced with jaw-dropping beautiful stone walls and steps, creative landscaping and hardscape and state-of-the-art sprinkler system. To top it off, Matt Stenson and James Doyle, were two of the finest, and most professional contractors I've ever worked with. I know...because as a retired real estate broker, I worked with many contractors over the years and few compare to their integrity, creativity and delivery of service. James was in charge of our project for the most part, and if I called or emailed him...he was always available...always polite, kind and responsive. We also had a stellar foreman, Alex. I have honesty never seen a harder working group of men, as Alex and his crew. They are artists in what they do....especially in creating "old-world" stone retaining walls. We have people driving by our corner property, who literally stop and take photos of our gorgeous new stone retaining walls. I could go on and on about Stenson Landscape and how they turned our dream of a yard into a beautiful reality. Just suffice it to say that Stenson Landscape is the very best and I would use them again in a heart beat. I highly recommend them.

As things always go the projects grew as we went. The single retaining wall became 7 including changing existing metal edging to stone. James made several suggestions along the way, almost all of which we did. We had shade issues and replaced all the back grass, over 200 plants, irrigation for the back, and a dry river bed for drainage control (11 tons of stone). We were planning on at least $20-30,000, but we spent $40,000. They spent over a month working. James and Matt were extremely helpful and explained everything well. The onsite supervisor Brady was excellent and went over expectations. Despite the cost our yard was transformed and amazing.

Everything went perfectly. They showed up on-time, did very professional work and it looks beautiful. Their crew was very helpful with any questions I had. Based on all of these factors I would not hesitate to recommend them. I picked them to quote originally based on Angies List recommendations.
