I'd give 0 stars if that were possible. I set up an appointment last Friday to have a stump removed today. I mentioned that a shed is going in tomorrow so the stump had to be removed today. I also mentioned that there are a couple of stumps in the backyard but the one and only one in the middle of the backyard was the one needing to be removed. I also told him that if he'd call me, I'd head to the house and show him the stump that needed to be removed. Thinking I had taken care of the stump removal, I didn't bother calling any other stump removal people and made it clear to the two that called me afterwards, responding to voicemails I had left them earlier in the day, that I had found someone else to handle it. Or so I thought. I hadn't heard anything from this guy and called him today, mid morning, just to find out when he was planning to be there. I explained that I had a couple of other jobs to do today at another rental property and just wanted an idea of when he might be there so I wouldn't have to stop in the middle of another job to meet him over there. He seemed nice enough and I explained that I would work around his schedule, whatever that might be. He said he'd call me today at 1pm and I went to work on my other jobs. At precisely 3:55pm, having not heard from him at all, despite him telling me he had another job in a neighborhood close to the house with the stump needing removal, I called him. I would've called him earlier but I didn't want to seem like a pest and am quite understanding about people falling behind, especially when it comes to physical labor-any number of things can slow people down and it was a hot Texas spring day. Despite that, I knew that if this guy stiffed me I was going to have very little time to either find someone else to remove the stump or do it myself. He didn't answer, I left a polite voicemail and at about 4:50 I finally had to accept the fact that this guy is one of those contractors that I won't have anything to do with because they are completely unreliable. They suck. I have 7 or 8 contractors that do the jobs I can't or won't undertake and, before this guy was added to the list, I had 2 or 3 contractors that I would never, under any circumstances, do business with again. It's almost 11pm and I never received as much as a phone call. After doing some physical labor at another property for 7-8 hours, I had to go remove the stump. I couldn't find anyone else to do it on such short notice. I have a pinched nerve in my neck that's shooting pain down into my elbow and hand but since this guy couldn't bother showing up or even calling, after working a nearly full work day I had to load up my tools and stop working at another jobsite and head over to demolish the stump-a job this guy, for some reason, said he'd do. I don't understand contractors like this. I explained in my initial phone call that the shed would be there tomorrow so the stump needed to be gone by today. I'm the one that was stiffed and hung out to dry. I don't like it. How hard is it to tell someone you're going to do something and then actually do it or at least tell them you can't or won't? That's the way I operate but I guess a little decency and civility is beyond some people.
Description of Work: The provider did nothing. He didn't show up to do the job and didn't call when he said he would (or at any point in the remainder of the day for that matter).
