So far really good. Seems to be knowledgeable and honest about the job. He is also the one that told me that you can't re-stain and etch a product that has previously been stained and etched.
Description of Work: They came out and provided me an estimate on a project that was messed up by a previous company.

Recommendation Letter for LD Contractors If I had to 3 words to sum up Larry and his crew they would be, Professionals, Knowledgeable, and Punctual. Upon first meeting Larry for my bid on house work he was very thorough and explained our options. A summary of work that we hired Larry for is, paint multiple rooms, clean up trim and install trim and shoe moulding in multiple rooms, crown moulding in living room and bed room, replace rear soffett and paint, repair switch in light fixture and sheetrock repair. Larry was committed to our satisfaction, before starting he explained what to expect on having trim refinished vs replaced. After quote was already agreed upon and it was supply pick up day he recommended corner moulding for our living room. ( Which absolutely looks amazing!!!) The work was performed spring break 2014, so our daughter was present every day. His crew was very professional and there was no inappropriate language or behavior around our 4 year old. They were here when he said they would be here daily. We have had other contract work done on home after buying in 2011, and the work done then looked good cause so much was done. But living in and seeing spots where spackling was left or over spray in recessed lighting or texture overage on roof one begins to become frustrated. What I’m getting at is sure there is contractors out there a dime a dozen. But there is also getting something done right the first time and having a good quality product and that’s what Larry stands for. The day after job completion Larry had given me a call to ensure we were still satisfied, and we are. In fact they will be back to install crown moulding in remaining bedrooms and remodel bath.
Description of Work: Paint, repaint trim, install crown moulding, replace rear soffett and paint, repair switch in light/fan fixture, and light sheetrock repair

I'll start off by saying that I never write reviews but my overall experience with this contractor was so bad I need to warn others before they have the unfortunate experience I did. I met with 3 other contractors I found on this website before deciding to go with L and D Contractors. Larry talked the good talk so we added some more stuff to the project (install a ceiling fan, facets in the bathrooms along with vent fans and light fixtures) and agreed we would pay the quoted prices. There were a few items that he didn't account for when he wrote the estimate that needed to be added to the price. No big deal...quality work costs! First few days or so into the project we started noticing obvious things of concern (paint peeling on the existing base they painted...noticed that surface wasn't scuffed / sanded prior to painting, base boards cut the wrong length and filled in with caulk then painted over, areas where the new base boards joined with the old base boards wasn't sanded to look smooth and uniform it was just painted over as is, dirty boot prints all over the master tub, etc). I voiced my concerns and Larry assured me that he was one of the pickiest person I will ever meet and that the only thing that mattered was the final product. My question then was and quot;why not do it right the first time to save on cost and time?and quot; he assured me things would be done right and that I would be happy with the final product. Long story short after two weeks we saw enough and before they started work on what we though would be the most critical part of our project (glass back splash install, double pantry install, over the range microwave install and staining of the kitchen cabinetry) we cut our losses and hired another contractor. Rooms that were textured did not match existing texture in the house...in most areas there were lines and smears in the texture that presented a mediocre look. Texture over spray everywhere now we have to paint areas we were not planning on painting. Drywall repair that was taped, textured and painted over looks like crap so the new contractor is just going to cut it out and do it right. Existing base that was painted will now be replaced...we even found a base that broke when they nailed it in but instead of replacing the base they painted it over to try and conceal the damage. Nothing professional about any of the work performed...very very disappointed! Larry insisted he be paid the agreed on price for the mediocre work he performed even though he himself said he would mud the master bathroom all over and retexture the walls and less than 20% of the work needed in the kitchen was completed. We paid without argument. We work very hard for everything we have and were not looking for a free ride or hand out. Like anyone would expect when they pay for a service we just wanted professional work performed and done right the first time! Larry called a few minutes after we wrote the check to say he was going to review the items on the bill and get back with me...he wanted to make sure he didn't overcharge us. I texted him a few days later and he was supposedly still working on it but had a family issue to attend to and would have it done shortly. It's been almost 2 weeks now since that call...Our bank statement shows that the check was deposited the day it was written. I'm adding lack of integrity to the list!
Description of Work: Work that was supposed to be done - Texture and paint in 3 rooms. Baseboard and quarter round install in 5 rooms. Paint vanity and install faucets / Install vent fans in 2 bathrooms. Install ceiling fan.

Response from L & D Contractors
I am not willing to give Mr. Harris any refund. I have gone over my figures and worked at his house for over two weeks and had my crew there. I was 2-3 days from finishing the job and on Saturday March 6, 2014I received a text from Mr. Harris saying please call me we’re going to have another contractor finish the work at the house. Needless to say I was shocked. So I called him and ask what the problem was, because I was out of town, and told him I would be there Monday and we could discuss it. The job was 80% finished. Mr. Harris had added an extra items on the contract to be done. There were 2 baths and a kitchen textured. The kitchen and 1 bath were completed. I textured the last bathroom on the Friday, and did not get to see it after it dried, and received the call on Saturday saying he was getting a new contractor. Texture is like an artist, no one can match perfect but I had not even seen it after it dried. The area he is referring to in the kitchen on the ceiling we did not tape that. There was a florescent light that he or someone had removed; there were caulk lines on both sides. We sanded and scraped and retextured was not 100% match, I told him I could cut out the area tape and mud it and retexture, he said no. If he is going to replace baseboard he should have told us to replace it instead of painting it. The broken baseboard that was mentioned I had already told employees to replace it. The paint peeling on all existing baseboard – this is not wood it is paper glued on plastic to make it look wood grained, I told the customer this, you can’t sand paper we continued to paint it as instructed by customer. My experience in painting this product has been successful 30-45 days the paint cures and hardens enough for it not to peel. Where the new pieces of baseboard met with existing baseboard, the existing baseboard was too short. All we could do is caulk it. Now the kitchen cabinets: Sanding the kitchen cabinets was about 80% of the job. It was smooth, all stain was removed. Cabinets looked better than the unfinished at any retail store. We were approximately 80% finished. The Friday before that last Friday we worked he text me and said what a great job we were doing. We are working with Verizon to try to recover the text. I didn’t keep them because he was so happy with the work who knew. The Wednesday before last Friday he shook my hand and said he was glad to have us working on this job. Two out of the three employees working there heard him. All he needed to do is let us finish the job. Larry Daugherty
