Response from Mr. George Handyman
Sir, I am sorry there was confusion between you and my assistant (not partner) Rebecca. The phone estimate she gave you, was for 2 of our guys to come out there for 8 hours and the price she gave you only included one, 5 gallon bucket of paint, phone estimated at around 1,270.00 not 1,370.00. However you will need more than 5 gallons to paint that wall space. There are online tools that allow homeowners to get an accurate wall space footage, so that they can understand where we get our figures from. She had set up for us to come look at the property on 4/8/2017. This is when you told her "I already have hired a crew they will be here painting on 4/8/2017." We cannot give you accurate pricing nor a contract without seeing the property in person, she gave you rough numbers. In your frustration, I think you confused a few things that were said to you. And with our current schedule we are least 2 weeks booked. We never discussed a start date, only an in person estimate time to give you accurate numbers. The numbers you gave to her, when she asked how much you were paying them, were 1,500.00 (not 1400.00) for a crew to come complete the painting of 1,350 sqft assumed wall space. However when it discussed that 1350 square foot, was the entire floor space not wall space, the price had to be adjusted to the correct square footage of wall space. In which is roughly three times the amount of floor space - adjustments had to be made because of paint needs and labor costs. Your other crew was supposedly going to complete this project in one and a half days, while spending the night at your property, the same property you plan to rent out on 4/15/2017. She explained later, that we would increase our crew size there and IF hired we would send four guys out to your property ( that's 4 times the Angie's List price of 600.00 ). Normally that cost would be 2400 PLUS materials. She dramatically lowered the price to have the job completed for you, for under the same price as the other crew was charging with the exception of materials. 2400 PLUS materials would cost roughly 3,000.00, we tried working with your time frame and budget to complete a make ready for your new tenant. Your labor cost alone was reduced by $900.00. The first numbers had changed because we increased the crew size, to meet your time frame and job size expectancy. This is why the price that was a rough guess for two guys for 8 hours increased. Also sir, she never told you to cancel your already hired crew, she gave you an estimated cost. You had told her that you needed to make a phone call that you would call her back. Only to our surprise you had cancelled your already hired crew. She could not answer your phone call as soon as you called back, as she was busy at the time assisting our other customers and we were in an area where cell phone signal is not the best quality, she was returning phone calls as soon as she could. Also sir, we do our best to work hard for our customers, that is what we are about, we strive to provide quality and satisfaction within the customer's budget and time frames. We can still come look at the property, to give you an estimate in person, so we can draft a contract with actual figures. Since we understand that you have new tenants moving in at the end of the week, and you need this done in a timely manner. Per our conversation I had stated that I "Suggest that you compare / order the services through Angie's List" so that you could personally compare our phone quote with our services listed through Angie's List. Our Angie's List storefronts are designed to allow our customers to view our prices in hourly rates. That way our customers are protected by a structurally designed pricing system for blind bids, you get what you pay for in an hourly rate. So that you may understand the phone quote Rebecca gave you was accurate per our Angie's List services offered. We can still come and look at the fence for repairs so that your new tenant's furry friend does not get out through the holes and failing fence conditions. However we strongly suggest that you repair the fence to a standard quality and we can furnish a bid for that also, if you would like, but we will have to see how bad the damage is in person. And we can give you an accurate quote to fix the fence properly, once on site. I tried to contact you to salvage the relationship and the job, you refused to listen to our prices that match our Angie's list prices and kept threatening me with bad reviews, even though no work for you had been completed, also no formal estimate had been drafted, after you had threatened Rebecca with the same threats (we have the text messages to prove this), in order to get your way with pricing. This is when I questioned the quality of the other company at 1,500.00, who will use, in your own words "contractor grade paint". The same crew you had told me "wanted to stay in the home overnight". The same home that you are renting out at the end of the week. I repeatedly reminded you that we could offer you 2 guys for 8 hours and one 5 gallon bucket of paint for the price ( that matched our Angie's List storefronts) that Rebecca and you had discussed. Our store front offers Angie's List members a discount "$539 for 8 labor-hours of interior or exterior painting in 1 day for 1 guy. Offer also includes minor surface repairs and inexpensive supplies like tape and spackle. Member must provide paint." Does not include excessive repairs to already damaged property. Normal pricing is usually 600.00, for the same offer. These offers are for customers who do not have the convenience of an in person estimate. This covers both the customer and our company at a non square foot price. However we received no pictures or actual information on how bad the repair damage was to your property. As I have stated if you are still interested in hiring our company to do the paint job, I would suggest you hire the company through Angie's List. Also, we can still the discuss the fence repairs if you would like. Again we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you, however our prices are set for customer and company protection. We are not out to swindle customers out of money, we are here to provide our best and leave our customers happy and satisfied. We look forward to hearing from you. In which ever route you decide to go, we wish you the very best in any of your future projects and endeavors. Have a blessed day.
