We called Allied. A rep came out the next day. The job was done, beginning to completion, the very next day.
Description of Work: 24 piers to level and support the foundation of our house - done very well, promptly, quickly, and efficiently One minor thing: a few of the holes in one area were not compacted after piers driven, then filled with dirt - We were able to do this ourselves without any difficulty.

I liked that they were honest with me. I had a couple of guys tell me that I needed $5,000 worth of work done. It was refreshing to have somebody honest and tell me that I didn't need any work done. They were very responsive. I would not only recommend them but I would use them.

They arrived on time to give me an appraisal and estimate for the job. Gave a very thorough explanation of what work would be performed with a detailed fixed price for the job. Their normal price is $200 per pier, all inclusive. My cost would have been $8000 but they knocked off an additional $1000 because I am an Angie's list customer. No other contractor in the area would come close to their bid. The work carries a lifetime (of the foundation) transferable warranty.
Description of Work: Arrived on time and placed forty piers under the foundation, with minimal damage to plants and surroundings. Repaired any visible cracks in the masonry and completely cleaned up after they were through.

The crew arrived a little before 9 a.m. They immediately started to dig up my old piers and dig new holes for my new piers (15 total). Another man took measurements inside the house to estimate how far beneath my slab (and defective plumbing) they had to dig. By 2 p.m., the house had been leveled. They had also almost finished digging the trench to replace the sewer pipe. I could not believe how fast the men worked. They found additional plumbing issues around the original leak. The solution was to rip it all out and install new PVC. That added an additional $2,000 to the estimate and hours on the job, but I was fine with it because I wanted my plumbing problems fixed for good. Around 5 p.m. the men were still fixing the plumbing issues and replacing the cement sewer pipe with PVC. By 9 p.m., they had just installed my two toilets and were still backfilling the trench. The boss (on the phone) was pushing the crew chief to finish on the same day. One of the toilets was still rocking a lot because it didn't have shims underneath. The plumber was trying to get us to fill the cracks with caulk and not install the shims. Thankfully my husband insisted that the crew return the next day to finish backfilling the holes and fix the plumbing work. Overall I am pleased with the work, but I gave an overall "B" grade because: 1. The man who gave us the estimate said he would be on-site to review the work, and he never came 2. I don't feel it was humane of the boss to insist on the men to finish the job on the same day when it was already pitch dark outside and the men had been digging ditches for 12 hours. I could tell that the crew wanted to do a good job but felt pressured to hurry. 3. The workers were in such a hurry that they tried to justify that our rocking toilet was "not a big deal". I think we would have been left with a badly installed toilet if we had not insisted that they return to re-seat it with a new seal and shims.
Description of Work: According to an engineer's report and investigative plumber's report, our house had more than a 4-inch deviation in the foundation and plumbing leak underneath our slab foundation. We had deep cracks (as wide as a two fingers) and gaps in our wall and around our windows. The recommended course of action was to fix the plumbing leak beneath the slab, and run a new PVC sewer pipe to the City's main drain. The current pipe was cement and was getting clogged by our big tree roots. We hired Allied to do the plumbing work and level our foundation with 15 new piers.

The representative with whom I originally spoke seemed well-versed in her profession and was very clear as to what she considered to be the problem and its solution. I was quite impressed with her knowledge, her presentation and her manner and after a few days of consideration, signed the contract for the price she set (around $12,000) and then set up the appointment for the foundation repair and replacement of all drainage pipes for September 6. On September 6 two trucks came. The project manager or foreman came in to let me know what they would be doing and the time schedule. He went back outside and came back in within 15 minutes to inform me that the job would entail much more work that anticipated and that there was no way it could be done in the time previously scheduled to complete the job....something about the pipe wasn't located where it was thought to be. He said he did not want to start the job and then be unable to complete it and leave me "hanging" for some time which made no sense to me. Why would he have to stop? This concerned me greatly as I had inside repairs that needed done but must await their work before I could contract the other. I asked if he would please call the company owner and discuss the situation and then come back in and discuss it with me. About 10 minutes later I looked outside and the two trucks and all the workers had left the premises. I attempted many times over many days to speak with someone regarding the situation and to learn when they would return. I finally was able to reach the woman who had made the original presentation and she said I would need to talk to the owner of the company. I left many messages with someone in the office but no one returned my call. After more than a week had passed, I finally was able to reach the owner by using my cell phone (no I.D.) and calling quite early in the morning. He said he hadn't returned my calls because he had not yet come up with a solution. Never once was I presented any options or possible solutions. I extracted an oral promise from him to contact me in two or three days. He nor anyone else from the company every contacted me again. I signed the contract in good faith and felt it should have been honored. I thought about getting an attorney but decided that would probably result in a very poor performance by the company if it were forced upon it and I wouldn't even be aware of it until later when a problem surfaced or resurfaced. It really stunned me that a company that had been recommended on the Internet and by other customers, a company of long standing in the area, could be so totally UNRELIABLE and UNPROFESSIONAL. As of this date, the problem has not been corrected. I decided to consult an engineer whose only interest will be to determine the problem and recommend its solution. A family member was supposed to engage an engineer for me...that hasn't occurred. Then I will proceed with interviewing several companies before making a decision. This situation has caused much hardship for me as I have a master bedroom closet and bathroom that suffered damage. The master bedroom closet and bath cannot be utilized until such time as all of these repairs are made and in the right order...I have already had the bedroom and bath repaired once for the same problem which obviously wasn't correctly identified (That's another company and a lot of wasted money that I couldn't afford to waste. However, I do not fault that company. They did a very good repair job). Also my insurance was canceled because of the repeated problem and I had to seek another insurance company. It has been and continues to be a very frustrating experience for me.
Description of Work: Examined the property inside and out, explained what needed to be done and how it would be accomplished. Wrote up a contract. Please see below for other details.

These guys are good! They arrived at 1 p.m. and left at 5 p.m. In 4 hours they did 15 piers and put everything back just like they'd found it (including the mosaic brick in the patio). Friday they returned to replace cracked clay pipe (pre-foundation work) on both sides of the house and do two l-o-n-g runs. The inspector came by Monday and gave his OK and by Monday evening they had the place cleaned up. Today they returned to do the cement work (the driveway had to be taken up) and again do more brick work. (This had to wait until today--Wednesday--because of the wet weather.) They even hauled the extra dirt away! I can't say enough good things about them. It's my belief I got MORE than I paid for.

They were excellent, they were unbelievable. They completed the job the same day. They cleaned up everything and moved dirt where we had holes in our back yard, but they asked first. They were very good. I think we paid $2800 for 25 tiers. Their work was very well in tune with each other and they were very fast, efficient and we noticed that night that we stopped hearing the cracking sounds in our house, so it is settling.

House has foundation issues with visible slab cracking, interior sheet rock cracks, doors not closing etc. I called to make an appointment for an estimate back in August with approximately a 4week wait for the visit. This was better than some other companies were offering. The initial phone contact involved giving basic information as to the problems and the age of the home. Phone staff was courteous and pleasant to speak with. I did get a call to move the visit up a few days from the scheduled time which was appreciated! The young man who did the evaluation seemed knowledgeable, was able to answer my questions to my satisfaction, did a complete exterior assessment and drew a sketch of the perimeter dimensions of the house. He noted where the piers would be placed and sketched arrows indicating the direction of the shift in each area. Nothing was stated specific to inches/degrees etc of slope. He examined the interior first floor issues, and checked floor level using a level only, nothing electronic. His assessment was for 27 piers, which differed significantly from other quotes. (One was for only 13, another for 19 piers ). I was quoted a price of $6750, then told that if I booked the job within 30 days the price would drop to $5400. No mention of a reduction was given due to Angie's list or anything else, just an "if you book we will reduce the price". I personally do not like this business practice. Provide me a fair price up front, give a time frame that the price will be honored and I am more likely to do business than with this tactic. Overall I was pleased with the evaluation. The pricing for the number of piers they indicated I would need appears to be good. A major concern was the difference in number of piers needed quoted by reputable companies within a week or so of each other, so I chose the company with the middle quote for 19 piers.

We were concerned that our foundation had shifted and called about getting an inspection. The person who answered the phone asked questions about the age of our home and the problems we were experiencing, and stated that we almost certainly did not have a foundation problem. They recommended watering the foundation and advised that appointments were available three to our weeks later if we decided we wanted an inspection.

They came out and gave me an estimate to install 44 piers. We planned the date for the 11th of July. The crew came out in the morning and started the work about an hour later when the foreman show up and they were finished by around 2 in the afternoon. After walking the job with the foreman I told him that I was not happy with the amount of dirt still piled up around the house and would like for them to either take some of it away or smooth it in. They took a little away in a wheelbarrow, but that was about it. He said it would settle in the ground. After getting a few opinions from family members I called Allied the following day and told them I would like someone to come and take more of the dirt away or rake it in better. It was really piled up pretty high. They said someone would call me back and nobody ever did. I called two or three more times after and was told to call another number and talk to a certain person. ( I can't remember her name, but if they tell you that I don't think she exists) I finally gave up and did it myself. I'm a single mom and I don't think after paying $6,000 that I should have had to get out there myself and strain my back to fix all that dirt. I'm extremely dissappointed with the customer service and I only hope that I don't have any problems with the foundation because i'm afraid nobody will ever show up to help me. During the installation process 2 of my 3 soaker hoses were cut up and I lost one shrub.

Work was done in a few hours as promised. Great job. Very professional. Was a small fraction of the cost (only $2,000) quoted by DuWest ($20,000 ) and Olshan ($10,000 ), and the exact same work was performed. Would highly recommend you go with Allied first before paying more for the same work. They offer a lifetime warranty just like the other guys. They even suggest you do your research and compare companies. You will find they offer the same service (and are just as effective as the other companies) for an exceptionally fair price.

I was really disappointed after all of the glowing reviews. The estimate was to be done on a home that I am considering purchasing. The inspector had noted a few issues with the structure under the house. When I called Allied Foundation, I told them specifically what was identified as problematic in the inspection report and what I wanted an estimate to cover. When I called a few days after the estimate was scheduled, I was told that it didn't happen because the technician couldn't gain access to the house. My Realtor had arranged to have the back door left unlocked and communicated this to Allied Foundation but they never told the technician and didn't have any record of it. So, the estimae was scheduled for another day. Again, I had to call to see how things went. This time I did get a call back from the technician who was very helpful and professional - he's the only reason I didn't give the company an F score. I was told that everything looked fine inside the house and there wasn't any need for structural work to be done. That was a big problem because I had specific issues that could only be addressed by looking UNDER the house as I had laid out when I originally called. He explained that they never go under the house when doing an estimate. Well, that would have been nice to know instead of wasting two weeks trying to get this work done! I feel let down because I was very specific about what I needed and why - if the company wouldn't do that during an estimate then there is really no point in wasting everyone's time. The technician was able to speak in general terms to answer questions that I had and I feel that he was very helpful. But the front office was a big waste of everyone's time.

The were quick, sent a whole lot of people, and the price was right. It may be odd using a foundation company for plumbing, but it was as a part of doing foundation repairs in my house. They have great diggers being a foundation company and they did that part really quick. This is the expensive part of this job if you use your local neighborhood plumber because they need to bring in outside help to complete the digging. The only complaint I have is that the cleanup was not that great. I have a long dirt line in my yard that is taller than the rest of the yard. They said it will sink over time so it needs to be built up, but they also did not try saving any of the grass by placing it back on top. Maybe if you pay more attention you can get them to take better care than i did.

Whole process was very easy. The team was here early and went right to work. It was noisy but no more so than I had been warned. There was minimal disruption inside the house except using outlets for their electrical cords. They did trip a breaker twice but it was easily reset. Clean up was as promised--ground was pretty disturbed in some places but will resettle and the areas of concrete were wet and muddy--not a major problem. The whole process took only approximately 5 1/2 hours. And thanks to Angie's List for the 10% off coupon that I was able to apply to the total price!!!! Saved $430.00!

Overall, the experience has been good. Jason is the manager/owner. There’s a warranty on their work and they are very responsive when something is wrong. For example, when we had the hurricane a few years ago, there was a lot of damage done and they came out pretty reasonably. They fixed it professionally. They dug holes out for these piers and once the work was complete, I couldn't even tell they were there. Their price is reasonable as well; $100/pier and a warranty. I’m happy with their services.

Estimate: Very nice, professional, courteous. She took her time and walked around the whole house/property with me to verify what was needed. She then sketched and gave me an estimate while she was there, explaining the process of installing the piers and answering all my questions. She did not try to up-sell to the fancier piers (with the plastic spacers in-between) and we ended up asking for more piers than she recommended (based on some other estimates we had received). She was available for questions I had after she had left by phone even though it was her day off. She also liked my dog, which is minor but makes a difference. Install: Crew arrived promptly (1 week after estimate) and got to work immediately. They had about 8 guys there, so they were digging and clearing, then jack-hammering the front step (the only invasive pier) and leveling the house within about an hour. The foreman walked the job with me and did everything I had asked with the landscaping. The foreman had to come into the house about 10 times to check the leveling progress and took his shoes off each time he came in....very respectful. Again, no problem with the dog. They were done by about 1 or 2pm, I was amazed at how fast they did everything. Clean up: I was hoping that they would take away the bushes that they removed, but they had another job to go to so they just left them where I told them to and I ended up cutting up and bundling them. I was impressed with their promptness, speed, and professionalism and would use them again. Update: a couple of weeks after the work was done, we tried to turn on our sprinkler system to no avail; our troubleshooting was useless. We called Allied and they were responsive, telling us they would come by that next weekend (so we shouldn't have to miss work). They never showed. It took several calls to their answering service to get a call back, but the person answering apologized for not sending the crew and took responsibility for that (points for integrity). He offered to reimburse us if we had someone else repair it. We waited instead for them to come the following week and they fixed everything up and everything has worked great since.

I called three foundation repair companies to bid repair of a sinking fireplace foundation. Allied provided the lowest bid. They arrived on time and proceeded to excavate. They began to adjust some previous piers and then stopped, filled the holes and left saying they were afraid to complete the job. In reality they had the wrong plan. I assume they decided they had underbid the job and did not want to stand behind their original bid. To their credit they did not charge me for what they did. I called them to discuss the situation and never received a return call.

From start to finish, Allied foundation was a class act. They were on time, professional, at reasonable cost for the the extensive work required, did an outstanding job in one day's time, and cleaned up my entire house, inside and out, completely. I was in a bind - needed the foundation work done within 3 days. After getting the structural engineer's report that we needed piers around the perimeter of our house, as well as inside, I called Allied on Saturday. They were able to send their lead foreman - Nelson - that afternoon. He spent well over an hour carefully evaluating our problems & concurred, separately, with the engineer's recommendation. Nelson really knew what he was talking about. On Tuesday, they brought in a very large crew & were able to place all 55 exterior piers under the house & 12 piers in my living room area, & be completely finished by 5:00pm. It was truly amazing! Although the price was a lot, for the amount of work that Allied did, it actually was quite reasonable -and they gave me an Angie's list discount. Their work is guaranteed for the life of my house & is transferable to the next owner. They answered all my questions, at all times, completely. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Placement of 55 piers under the entire perimeter of my house & 12 piers placed inside my living room area. Piers were placed 10' - 12' into the ground. Inside, jackhammers were used to create space in the foundation for the piers. The piers were then driven into the ground & concrete was added over the top, until both the surface of the piers & the whole foundation was smooth & level.

They were awesome! From the first estimator that came out to give us the price til they pulled off the job finishing earlier than expected -all employees acted courteous and professional. In fact I didn't even use my 10% off coupon from Angies's list because they deserved every penny and more! I highly recommend this company!
Description of Work: Allied placed 27 piers professionally-17 of which were to replace what a previous company fixed 7 years ago. They did a complete job efficiently and quickly. Their estimate was more than reasonable and with the work completed you can't even tell they were here except for the dirt they replaced.
