They called before they arrived and was professional. They were very knowledgeable and great at explaining what they were doing and why. He was able to find the issue and fix the problems quickly. He also wired another outlet in the kitchen that we needed for a portable water heater. He was very friendly and we will be calling them again for all future electrical issues.
Description of Work: They fixed a stage light that was not working and wired a new outlet for a kitchen portable water heater.

serviceman was extremely nice and professional. Issue was not easy to determine as many of the lines were buried. After confirming that the short was coming from the outdoor lighting fixture, he took down the fixture and told what components to get to fix the short. also provided an estimate running a new line to electric gate. he told me it would be pretty easy to do myself and did not try to push real hard to sell the service. When everything was done, he lamented the fact that they had gone to a fixed price service and that it seemed to raise the total cost of most jobs instead of just billing by the hour. Price did come back higher than expected.
Description of Work: - troubleshot short that causing breaker to trip - removed outdoor light fixture that was causing short and made assessment on what needed to be replaced - provided estimate for laying down new electrical line to electric driveway gate

As in my last review, everything was again perfect. The pricing system they use has changed a little since my last review whereby the various tasks now have a fixed price (as opposed to hourly rates), but in the long run, the total cost was just fractionally more than I expected. The guys who came out, Alan and his assistant (sorry, forgot name), were a pleasure to work with. They went above and beyond my expectations. It was an 8 hour job with lots of difficult work in a crowded attic space; they had to run cable down between walls, into downstairs ceiling panels, etc. The guys were very competent, and in spite of the difficult challenges caused by some of the construction characteristics of our home, they overcame all the obstacles they faced and completed the work to my total satisfaction. Noteworthy was all the time they spent cleaning up after the work. With eight different line runs, there was of course lots of cutting into the sheetrock, and the guys were careful to cover our furniture, then to sweep up and residual dust when they finished. I worked with the folks at the home office (service manager and office manager) on the phone several times also and found them to be polite, pleasant and competent. All in all, I was very happy with the work the team did. I would recommend this company for any of your electrical needs.
Description of Work: Had the folks from Zubras out a second time to lay additional RJ-45 Cable throughout our house for our security camera system.

I have been contemplating writing this review for a couple weeks now... I had two issues that I had ask them out for to estimate and/or repair. Ceiling Fan Clicking: This is the issue that bugs me the absolute most, and was the most important of the two items. I have a ceiling fan that clicks and it is proper annoying, so much so that I cannot sleep at night with it on. Unfortunately, I was out with one of the technicians at the gate/fence issue while the other technician was in checking on the fan. I explained to them that the clicking seemed to be from the slight "wobble" in the fact that there is some distance in between the ceiling and the fan itself. I was told that it was a motor issue and internal to the fan. Can't be fixed, need to buy a new fan. That is completely incorrect. I borrowed a ladder from a neighbor and went up to the fan and the clicking isn't even coming from the fan area, it is from the Ball Joint at the ceiling, you can touch the fan, have it stop wobbling and it goes away. I am not sure the "technician" even got up on a ladder as it was pretty evident that what he said the issue is, is NOT what the issue actually is. Now I have to call another company to come and look at the fan to fix this as I don't want to have to pay another service fee and then have them say that there is an issue that there is not and not have my issue fixed. Not Happy. Fence/Gate Issue: As stated, I was there watching over this technician the whole time, and this went a bit smoother. I was watching, there is a short in the motherboard of my fence opener. The technician used his "power meter" to make sure that all parts were getting power, and it was pretty evident that there is an issue a all parts are getting power properly. He was helpful and tightened down a couple wires to get by. The Ceiling Fan issue bugged me, and then having to pay for "diagnostics" bugged me too. If they had completely fixed my issues, that would have been one thing, but that was not the case. I spent $160 on a service fee and diagnostics. I will not use this company again, and recommend anyone use someone else that might be more of a specialist. Do not use.
Description of Work: The services provided were: Service Call Fee Diagnostics on Ceiling Fan Diagnostics on Fence/Gate The fence/gate was checked for power using a power meter. Found a "short" somewhere in the board, not fixed, can't fix, charged to use a tool. Whatever. Ceiling Fan, no idea what was checked, charged for it though...

Concerns. Technicians need better communication skills and know how to follow up with clients if they are going to be late or can't make it. Not professional at all. Maybe certain technicians have an attitude problem and don't care. Not good, will not use this company again, and in fact this seems to be a trend with Angie's List companies since I have had this same problem or a similar problem with Angie's List referrals. Not sure I am going to renew.
Description of Work: Called and scheduled a service call for Thursday between 8:00 am and 12:00 noon. Was told the service technician would call 30 minutes before arriving. At 11:30 am, I called the office number, since no one had arrived and was told that the service technician could not be reached, and once the office administrator contacted the service technician she would call back. She called back and said the service technician was tied up on another job and she would have to send out a different technician and that the service technician should arrive in 20 to 30 minutes.

Zubras agent came to view the job I need done at my house. Gave me some good ideas and a reasonable quote. Due to work and personal health reasons, I could not get the job moving for several months. When I got back to calling the agent, the company said he was out and will call back. The next day I call again, this time the firm says the agent has left the firm! LIES! Not good. Still I gave it a chance. After all people come and go in companies. I was told Simon will call me back. I waited for his call the rest of the day. Nothing. I called back the next morning. Simon was working with another customer I was told. OK. Wait for Simon to call me back. Still nothing. I called back one more time. Same story: Simon is busy with another customer and do I want to leave a message? Sure. I told Simon to call me back, each time providing my phone number and indicating I am ready to start work, just need to nail down final price and be clear about the items of work. Nothing. This kind of attitude towards a POTENTIAL customer speaks volume. Terrible. I will never use this company and won't recommend it to any one. In fact, will deliberately warn neighbors and friends against using it.

Great. Please see previous section for details on how it went. I believe this is the second time i have used zubra'and would use them again for any future electrical work. Very reliable
Description of Work: Louis came at the beginning of the 4 hour Window, calling in advance to update me on his arrival time. He immediately diagnosed my problems and fixed them quickly. The issues included ceiling fans:grinding, bulb out and cross wired signals. He also fixed the connections on some outdoor lighting. The job was done expeditiously and well. I am 100% satisfied .

First of all, the bid for the job was $4,000, but the actual charge came to $3,800. I was very impressed that Zubra's came under their bid. It was a big job and took two full days. I absolutely had no problems with these guys and they left my place spotlessly clean. There was not one little wire left on the ground. Without reservation, I would use them again.
Description of Work: I had the 1940 electric panel in my kitchen updated and moved to the outside of my house. I also had the electrical service moved from the center of the house to the side. The service to the garage was also updated. A new light fixture for the front porch was also installed.

My initial and only experience Zubras Electric was not very positive and had to give an F for the following reasons: 1. Like many reviewers suggested they came on time, that's the only positive feeling. 2. In the phone when I fixed an appointment with them, I was told that there is a service fee of $79.00 for inspecting and give an estimate of the actual work. But the end of their visit 1st visit, the went through my attic (which was clean and empty with all insulation removed) and listened to all my other requests related to the work and told me that they will go back and send me an detailed itemized quote. For this 1st visit they gave me an invoice of Service fee $79.00 and 060490-0031 (I don't know what this means) of $57.00. I didn't want to question it since I was also evaluating them for a bigger work. 3. The real shocker was the estimate I received from them for a simple project of pulling about 10 to 12 cables fro (co-axial + cat5) into a structured wiring box. Their estimate was over $5000+ and my home is just a single story small home with an average of $230 per cable. In any case I decided not to give the contract to them. To be fair, since I did not give the contract to them I cannot review their actual work which may or may not have been good. My overall thought is just because Angie's list shows A, doesn't mean we are going to get a fair deal.
Description of Work: In a completely clean attic with no insulation wanted them to check and fix the security cables chewed by rodents. And since the attic was empty wanted to pull TV (Co-axial) and Data (Cat5) cables in to all the 5 rooms in my home and just drop them into a structured cabling box in my utility room.

The electrician came out and gave us a quote for the work. Since I was OK with the quote, I had them proceed with the work. It took two people to perform the work because of the height and size of the ladder that was needed/used. The electricians did a very professional job. Since the new ceiling fan used a remote and the old one didn't, they asked how we wanted the wall switches to work and they also offered to wall-mount the holder for the remote. I was very pleased with their work and will use them again in the future.

The first time they were there, the kitchen light ballasts appeared to be loose, so they jiggled the light and said that appeared to be the problem. Within several hours the problem returned (no light from the bulbs). Upon calling them back, they indicated a follow up would be performed without an additional service charge. The second trip required additional fees, but because they had to purchase parts & fix something that previously was believed to be a lose wire. This was a reasonable expectation since they returned according to our schedule and with no additional service fee. Technicians were friendly and professional. Customer service in phone dealings was personal yet professional.

When I called someone answered immediately and was able to schedule someone to come 2 days later. They quoted me $600 for the 110 box and when I called an hour later to ask how much it would be to also fix the light switch they said they'd do it for free! On the day of the appointment they actually arrived early, I've never had that happen with an electrician before. They did the work pretty fast and they were very nice. The final price ended up being only $470. $130 less than they originally quoted me for only one service! I was very impressed!

This is the first time that I have used a vendor from Angie's List and I was more than pleased. I want to thank Ben T and Erick T. for their outstanding work. They were prompt, professional, knowledgeable, friendly, not afraid to get dirty and timely in performing the work needed. I was given an estimate and an explanation of what had to be done before the work was started. These guys were more than competent and efficient in the service given. I am more than pleased in the overall experience and gladly give the company an A+ rating!
Description of Work: The technicians took apart the outdoor lighting fixture at the back door, examined the parts, and determined the working ability of each part. They were helpful in suggesting the right part needed to correct the issue and got it operating. They examined a wall switch which had not been used in years for the bedroom lights and the ceiling fan. After going into the attic and reconnecting wires, they had both working from the wall switch. To give me the ability to operate each independently, they installed a switch at the nite stand. Soper!

Alan Ramos, the technician, and Erik Thomas, the helper, were very professional and did a great job. They were very neat and each fixture looks perfect. They explained the features, helped me find the correct light bulbs and showed me how to work the remote. I used this company before, in 2011. Now they have a different price structure. It did make my bill higher than I anticipated. However, they do excellent work, so I still think it is worth it.

Two servicemen arrived well within the 4-hour window. They performed the work methodically and well, but it did take them two hours, including a short trip to buy the materials needed (two circuit breakers and grounded outlet). They also cleaned up the work areas. However, I will NEVER use this company again, because: When booking the appointment, I asked Robert, the service manager, about their fees: - is the $79.99 a flat fee for the trip/first hour, and then hourly if they stay longer: answer "yes"; - if they perform work, does it come off the total price: answer "no". The bill was $428 (almost $200 more than my estimate) and only $80 of this was for materials (before my $8 Angie's List coupon discount for 10% off materials), which means I was charged $276 for the second hour of labor!!!! When I asked for an explanation of this HUGE BILL, I was told that, in August 2012, Zubras switched their method of billing from hourly plus labor, to $79.99 trip charge/first hour, plus a "per job" charge that the serviceman looks up in the book he carries. Apparently, there are A LOT OF CUSTOMERS who are MAD about this, including me! Why am I mad? Because Robert should have explained the billing when I made the appointment, but he clearly skirted around the issue, and took away my option of declining his service.

I called Zubras after the highest rated electrical company on Angies List did not return my call. Robert came and walked through with us to get a plan and an estimate. Unfortunately that was the last I saw of Robert and I had to explain the work again to the two young men who came out to do the work. The first day, the technicians showed up in the afternoon when I'd been told to expect them in the morning. I seemed to have a little bit of difficulty communicating just what I wanted done, thus it took a couple of tries to get it right. I was saying I wanted outside lights replaced and they were hearing light bulbs when I was meaning fixtures. (I can replace my own light bulbs, don't need an electrician for that.) The technicians were eager to correct and get things done right, they also explained different ways of doing things that would be better so I could chose the best option for me. They had some trouble getting one of the security lights to work correctly, but came back and fixed it without problem. They were careful to not leave a lot of sheet rock dust when they cut holes for ceiling fans. The estimate was itemized and not a "turn key estimate, thus it was x dollars for this and x dollars for that which made it difficult to determine what the bottom line price would be. I would recommend that you get a turn key or bottom line estimate for the whole job, even if you have to modify it due to changes as the work goes along. Robert told me I'd get an Angies list discount, but I couldn't tell from the invoice that it had been applied. I would like to see the estimator come out with the work crew the first day and explain the job to them, not have me have to explain it all over again. Overall, I am satisfied with the work they did, and would consider them again in the future.
Description of Work: Wire and install three ceiling fans (owner provided). Install motion detector security lights, install light detector security light fixture (owner provided), rewire inside light switches. Replace outside down light fixtures with more modern fixtures. Secure a large light fixture by the front door. Remove old door bell wiring. Date is approximate.
