 + 0 moreProject went just as I had expected. The work was done well and quickly. The wiring in the bathroom turned out to be a bigger job than expected so a couple of helpers were called in. I am very happy with the service and the price and will certainly use them again, and would recommend them to anyone.

 + 1 moreI am amazed! Alan was so pleasant and quick to find the problem. The cost was very reasonable. They did everything they said they would do (and more) at a lower cost and finished sooner than expected. I am very happy with Zubras Electric and will be calling them again as well as recommending them to my friends!
Description of Work: The ceiling lights and connected ceiling fans in three of my rooms were not working. I called Zubras and explained my problem and that it was not an emergency (the first question the young man asked on the phone was "Is your air conditioner working?" In August in Texas this is very important!) I reassured him there was no emergency as the A/C and all of the plugs still worked. He made arrangements to come out on Monday. He actually called earlier than he had originally planned and said he had finished a job early so did I want him to go ahead and come to my house. I agreed and when the electrician, Alan, came I explained my problem. Within ten minutes he had found and fixed the problem! He also replaced two ceiling lights for me that I can not reach as I have several ten and twelve foot ceiling and my porch light which is fourteen feet high. He was extremely polite and efficient and I will definitely be calling Zubras again.

 + -1 more#1 Christi Speak set up my original appointment she was so great to work with. #2 I had to cancel appointment last minute because of emergency Christi was so great set up for the very next day for us. #3 Brandon and Anthony were on time and explained everything they were going to do. They hung all three fans (three different ceiling heights) and had all the equipment with them including ladders for each height. They were careful in tight spaces and made sure I knew how to operate each one. They also advised us on future fixture selections for several other rooms. They then cleaned all three work areas and disposed of old fans and new fan boxes. When they left you would never guess we had just had 3 fans installed! I will recommend them to my friends and neighbors in a heartbeat!

He was very professional and courteous. It was appreciated that he offered good suggestions such as installing the GFCIs.
Description of Work: They changed eight outlets to GFI with decorative plates, installed nine toggles with dimmer switches, and added five GFCIs, which are a safety feature.

 + -1 moreGreat job. Initial Zubras technician came out and fixed the outdoor outlet, but was also stumped by the breaker problem. He arranged for a senior electrician (Lester) to come out later. Lester and his junior partner did a comprehensive check of the electrical system, isolated the problem and fixed it. They also noted some open wire and installed junction boxes.
Description of Work: Fix outdoor outlet. Diagnose and fix routing problem. Certain indoor outlets could not be shut off at breaker (other electricians were stumped by this problem).

 + -1 moreZubras was excellent in all phases of our association with them. The receptionist who took my call was very courteous and professional. The technicians called to let us know they were on the way and arrived during the time promised. They were very professional and knowledgeable and explained to me exactly what they were doing as they did the work. Due to the age of our house they recommended that we do a panel replacement but did not pressure us when we declined at this time. The tandem switch seemed very expensive, but the labor was in line with the going rates. I would definitely recommend Zubras to my friends.
Description of Work: After I described the problems we were having with one electrical circuit, the technicians determined there was a faulty circuit breaker switch and replaced the switch.

 + 0 moreZubras sent a two-man crew and they spent about 6-7 hours total on the job. They worked with me on a lot of little issues and gave me some tips on options for the work. I'm very satisfied with the work they did and will definitely call on them again if I have any additional work. I won't comment on price, I don't have enough knowledge or comparison shopping to make an estimate. I assume that materials cost probably doesn't vary a whole lot between contractors and the labor cost for two guys was around $95/hour.
Description of Work: For my new backyard arbor, I had Zubras supply a couple of GFI power outlets, as well as installing a ceiling fan and controller. The job involved running some conduit from an existing power source, then running somewhat concealed conduit on the arbor for both the fan and the power outlets.

 + -1 moreMy request was not an emergency and I was told on the phone that Zubras would try to work me in that afternoon but it might be ''tomorrow.'' Twenty minutes later my doorbell rang, and there they were. They did their work promptly and paid friendly attention to my eager Jack Russell terrier. I have absolutely positively no idea what I wish this had cost. The ''total material'' was only $15 and the rest was labor, so it is quite possible I should have rated that higher.
Description of Work: Update and install an outside light which automatically comes on at dusk and goes off at dawn.

 + -1 moreScott from Zubras Electric came out to move several wires that were in the way of the hole I needed to cut to add a pull-down ladder. Scott could not move the wires safely (they were too tight) and had to add a couple of junction boxes to free up space. I now have enough leeway with the wiring to move it as necessary. Scott was also able to give me some advice about adding recessed lighting.
Description of Work: On 8/4/06 I had Zubras come out to re-route some wires that would prevent me from adding an attic ladder.

 + -1 moreScott and Joseph, the two electricians from Zubras, worked very efficiently. They removed two old lights from my entryway. One was a hanging light which I would always hit my head on and the other was a recessed box type light that I guess was popular in the 60s. They were able to use the same wiring and light switches to connect the two new recessed lights. The lights look great and I always appreciate the advice I get from Scott and Joseph when I ask about various other electrical jobs.
Description of Work: On 8/10/06, I had Zubras come out and install two recessed (''canned'') lights to my entryway.

 + 1 moreThe company was great. Two servicemen showed up exactly on time. They were friendly, knowledgeable and hard-working. They let me know that I would need a roofing company to replace the attic fans and recommended one to me. They also let me know that I would have a whole in my ceiling from where I moved the ceiling fan, but gave me a recommendation to a dry waller. Great service. In addition, I should note that when calling the company to make the appointment, they asked all the right questions to ensure that the servicemen would have what they needed to get the job done.
Description of Work: -Install ceiling fan by replacing existing light. -Install ceiling fan and move light location to the middle of the room. -Inspect electric attic fans for proper function. -Inspect attic wiring for splicing. -Install A/C shut-off switch in attic.

He listened to what I wanted, gave professional advice, & even went as far as suggesting a cost effective alternative to adding a second outlet in the garage. I will use this company for all further electrical needs. Job 2: I used Zubras about 2 months ago for the first time and loved them. I quickly knew who to call with my recent blunder. Not only did Lester and his helper find and correct my mistake, he did not make me feel stupid for what I did to create the issue in the first place. This company is wonderful.
Description of Work: Job 1: Converted 4 outlets to GFCI. Repaired broken attic fan cord & replaced with wall switch($350). Job 2: Found and corrected owner error on two electrical outlets($94).

 + -1 moreJob 1: Overall experience was very good. Company got to the work very quickly. Workers very competent & know their business. Slight misunderstanding on hourly rates, but understandable. Hourly rate charged was higher than rate quoted over the phone, but understandable. If performing work on an hourly basis, get clear understanding of rates for individuals provided. Make sure when quoting hourly rates that you specify one or two workers and provide caller an explanation of company policy on providing workers. Job 2: All work was excellent and I was most pleased with the work. Amando and Joseph were on time and did all we discussed in a manner that exceeded my expectations. Amando's creativity on accomplishing a requirement was excellent. I would highly recommend this service company.
Description of Work: Job 1: The company scheduled the work very timely, called me in advance to confirm a worker was on the way and the workers showed up on time. They did a very good job and diagnosed the electric problem as quickly as anyone could. I expected one worker and was given rates for one worker, but two showed up and the rates went up accordingly. I suppose the work got done in half the time but don't know for sure. Some jobs would only require one workers, so it should be decided on the front end who is to be doing the work($225). Job 2: Completely replaced old electric entrance panel in 50-yr old home, ran new circuit for garage door opener, added new GFI outlets in two bathrooms, cleaned up some extremely bad wiring and installed outlet for electric fence. After replacing the panel, tested and labeled all circuits ($1650).

During repair work in the attic, a crew member stepped through an area of the ceiling. The company had the damage repaired promptly and well. This was an excellent company to deal with. I chose them from going over Angie's list reports, and, again, I was very well guided.
Description of Work: Replace porch ceiling fan, change circuit breaker, repair interior wiring defect for outside lights, remove one exterior light.

 + -1 moreI was originally told by the receptionist that someone would be there at 9AM. I told her I wanted an estimate and work done in the same day. I got a call from the supervisor at 8:30am who told me the guy who was scheduled had not shown up that day. He gave me an estimate over the phone and told me some could come later in the day between 12-4. Two guys showed up at noon and completed the work. There were very polite and professional and did good work. I would hire them again.
Description of Work: I live in an older home with very few grounded outlets. I had them ground 4 outlets and install 2 ceiling fans and move one to another room. One of the ceiling fans was missing the screws for the light fixture and they did their best to find others that would work.
