The cost was considerably higher than I expected significantly higher than I have paid in the past - but based on the stellar reviews on Angie's List I decided that I would have them do it. Quick response to my request for an appointment. Again, the bar was set really high by the reviews I read. Everything I asked was done and works properly. A bit high on price, left a bunch of debris behind and not what I expected given the overall "A" rating they currently have. I will probably not use them again, but they were OK...
Description of Work: Two outlets moved, another really difficult one installed in a tight space. Light switch moved and one added.

 + -1 moreTwo Zubras electricians showed up on time. After explaining the problem, they quickly went to work trying to figure it out. It was a good thing they showed up with two guys, because it was not an easy problem to diagnose. One guy had to stay in the garage and flip the fuses while the other tested the light and outlets. They even crawled up in the attic. In less than an hour, they had diagnosed and repaired the problem. They even had time to repair a faulty light switch in the kitchen within the one hour that I was paying for.
Description of Work: Zubras diagnosed an electrical short that had shut down the power to the lights, and a couple of outlets in one bedroom. They also repaired a light switch in the kitchen.

 + -1 moreIt looked like a very straightforward fan replacement until the electrician removed the existing fans and discovered that our wiring support was shot (older house). He had to return to the shop once for parts he hadn't planned on needing, but didn't charge extra for the time. He was also able to replace a couple of dimmer switches for us, even though they weren't part of our original order.
Description of Work: They replaced two fans and installed fan support boxes. They also replaced two dimmer switches.

 + 1 moreIt went well. They showed up early and did the work as described. I am finding (at least in my honest opinion) that electricians can be divided into those that are great at the "behind the wall" stuff and those that are great finishers. Now, I realize many are good at both, but usually, they excel at one and are merely proficient at the other. Zubra's seemed to be great at the "behind the wall" stuff. They knew their business. I don't think I would use them to do "pretty" work. As for what I needed done, they did a great job. They were early and they were honest. I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I had them switch out a new chandelier, remove a ceiling fan and replace it with a light fixture, and replace old track lighting w/ new track lighting. Also requested bid on future work.

 + 1 moreBen called approximately 10 minutes before he arrived. Once Ben and his associate arrived, they asked for a walk-through of the issues and got right to work. They had to take a quick break to buy some supplies, but were very efficient, cleaned up nicely and even replaced a switch that was not on the estimate for a mere $10! All work appears to be of high quality.
Description of Work: Repair and replace the two ballasts and lamps in the 2' fixtures in bathroom; check and repair recess can at entry into bathroom; check the two recess cans in breakfast area and replace lamps and verify dimmer is ok, replace if needed; check out pendant light on stairway and repair if dimmer is needed or lamp replaced.

 + -1 moreIt was easy to make an appointment for just a couple of days later. They showed up in their zebra-striped van (no kidding!) and got to work. The quickly crawled into narrow attic spaces and found the problem. An hour later the job was done, the electricity was back on, and all our appliances and lighting worked! They were professional, tidy, and knowledgeable. It turned out to be a burned-out J box that the last (probably unlicensed) electricians had installed improperly before we bought the house. And it was cheap! $200!
Description of Work: We had a faulty electrical circuit in our older home. After flickering for a long time, it suddenly stopped working completely. We had no dishwasher, microwave, lighting in the dining room or kitchen - it was a real problem! We were afraid it would cost a lot of money to repair. We got Zubras Electric off of Angie's List and called them.

 + 0 moreFrom the lady I spoke to when scheduling the first work, to the very end... a great experience. A company that is pleasant, respectful, does good work, and charges a fair price. The work was scheduled within a few days. The time frame was given and adhered to. The men who came to my house were great. Jimmy Hernandez and his helpers were respectful of my house, careful as I had cats that could get out, and called each time as they were on their way to assure me they'd be there when scheduled. The carefully moved a large dining room table to be able to hang the chandelier and were careful with ladders to not leave marks on walls or floors. High 5's for Jimmy Hernandez and the team from Zubras.... they're the best!
Description of Work: I had an antique rewired 1800's pool table lamp that presented several challenges to hanging due to the three hanging points, the non-standard size of the part that connected to the existing wiring "box" as well as the problem of the beams not being in the right place to support the weight. Even for someone as experienced as Jimmy Hernandez (the Zubras Electrician who came) and his helper, it was a real challenge. Jimmy was fantastic! He figured out what would work, went to get the supplies, constructed a way to do it, cut holes in my ceiling, inserted bars to support the weight and installed the chandelier. And in his words.... "it's not coming down anytime soon!" Jimmy came out twice last month, hanging another more straightforward crystal chandelier, as well as outdoor light, and several small little electrical jobs.

 + -1 moreThe technician showed up as scheduled and took one and one half day to complete the work. I noticed that the technician worked about half of the time on one outlet. We have a very typical environment with easily available access. I thought the job took too long and was too expensive. I expressed my concerns to the owner who was open and responded appropriately to my call. I was also working in the building at the time and I found it a bit annoying that the technician frequently stopped to chat with me as though we were buddies, telling me about projects in his house, etc. He was trying to be friendly, but I would have rather had him on the task at hand than chatting with me while I am trying to finish my work.
Description of Work: Installed two interior 110 outlets, one exterior 110 outlet and repaired a photo switch.

 + -1 moreThe process went very smoothly. I called to obtain an appointment and then had my phone call promptly returned by the estimator who provided prices on the services I requested. The staff called before dropping by and arrived within the appointment time. The staff listened as I explained what I wanted to do and then explained my options based on the lighting I had purchased. They then quickly began work and completed the project with excellent results. The price was within what was quoted over the phone.
Description of Work: I had a single switch that controlled both track lighting over a fireplace and a ceiling fan in the middle of the room. Zubras' staff came out and took out the track light, installed two recessed lights and in the process, put the recessed lights on a different switch than the ceiling fan (so now I can have the ceiling fan on without the fireplace lights required to be on).

 + -1 moreThe service manager who came to our house, Tom, was very nice. He was there on time and clearly explained all of the work that would need to be done. He left us his card and said he would e-mail us the next day with an estimate. That was Monday. Today is Friday and we've never heard back. I was really hopeful that we would have a good experience because the reviews are so good, and because everyone was so friendly on the phone. Unfortunately, they didn't seem interested in our business. This wasn't a huge job, but we were planning on spending $6,000-$10,000 on these electrical upgrades. I'm not sure why they never contacted us. Ultimately, we went with another electrician who was able to give us a quote within 24 hours and was very professional.
Description of Work: We had Zubras Electric out to give us an estimate on rewiring our kitchen and moving the circuit box.
