Mr. Carl is an excellent designer and did great work for us...a little pricey but he does do custom work. He did not frame my transom windows which I had asked him to do but they "fit" in their spot so I decided not to press the issue. Also, he works on his own schedule so you need to follow up on your appointment times by calling him before you leave to make sure he remember and will be there at the appointment times.
Description of Work: A stained glass window was made from previously collected glass by my father for a door in my house. Also 3 other windows were made for my dinning room transoms from the collected pieces. And a framed 3 window that is "portable".

Carl Trimble was an absolute delight to work with, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing lead glass or stain glass repairs. I joined Angie's List a few weeks ago hoping to find someone to do the necessary repairs to my front door, but never found Trimble Studio through this website. Two weeks ago I decided to check HomeAdvisor, and was able to submit information on their website about my needed repair. Carl called me less than 5 minutes after submitting my request! It was late in the day, so he asked me to take several pictures of my door/lead glass window and email them to him for evaluation and promised to call me the next day with an estimate Just as he promised, he called me the next morning with my estimate and said that he could have someone come out later that day to take out the window for me. The young man who came out later that day carefully removed my 25 year old lead glass window and made a temporary insert from plywood. It took just over a week for them to re-do my window. They also added a strengthening bar across the center of the window to give it more support. The new window looks even better than it did when our house was built. I'm very happy that I found Trimble Studio. Hopefully Angie's List will make it easier to find this wonderful Specialty Glass business for others. My new window is absolutely beautiful.
Description of Work: The oval lead glass window in my front entry door had major cracks in it and needed to be repaired.

The result is the lamp I remember. There are a few imperfections where age shows in minute gaps between glass and solder because Carl did not want to overdo the solder. It looks again like what it is, a century and a quarter old hand made lamp. To his credit, Carl respected my desire for a family heirloom to be restored over my entreaties to hurry up. Carl is a craftsman I would recommend to anyone wanting quality leaded glasswork or repair. Be prepaired to be patient and you won't be disappointed.
Description of Work: Restored antique Tiffany style lamp which had been damaged in moving and storage. The lamp is a complex semi-globe consisting of easily over 1,000 small cut glass pieces joined by lead solder rather than the traditional soldered copper foil. The support ring surrounding the base had cracked, allowing the entire piece to begin to fissure in over a half dozen sections. Additionally, one whole salad plate sized section had been caved in. Carl Trimble frustrated me initially by taking much time to plan a strategy to repair a section at a time while not destabilizing previous work. To give an idea of the scope, the base of the lamp has by my count 108 pieces of glass soldered into floral shapes. From the base (think of it as the hemisphere of a globe) to the top (North Pole) there are approximately 23 rows of various sized pieces. Carl began by encasing the lamp in papier mache to stabilize it so he could turn it over and repair the circular bottom brace. Then over the past few months he attacked one section at a time, bringing the glass lack together and soldering it in place. Not a job I would have the patience for!

Response from TRIMBLE STUDIOS
Thanks for your generous and kind comments. I take a lot of pride in my work and have had as a mantra for years a statement to the effect that "I would rather you be upset because it seems to take too long than to have you curse me from now on because it wasn't done right. Although this project took a long time, the preservation of your own family's handiwork was important to you and by extension, important to me as well. As I recall, it was your great grandfather who made this lamp while working at Tiffany Studios more than a hundred years ago. Because of the compound associations with this lamp's historical content and its provenance with your family history, only the greatest care could be and was taken in working on it in such a way that no further damage would be done to it in the repair process. I was most gratified with your initial response when you retrieved the lampshade on its completion and even more so with your generous critique of the work I had done. I am pleased to know that your lampshade is now hanging appreciably in your home. May you enjoy it for many yars to come.
