Labor Day weekend, expecting company after they had a 7 - 8 hour drive. We find that the downstairs a/c was blowing hot air. We checked what we could - and we found the temperature downstairs was slowly going past "warm, can handle with overhead fans" to "it is hot, when will the sun set and give us a tiny break". We called, not knowing what response we would get, it being a holiday weekend. Texas Air Zone called back within a half hour. Verified what was going on and said he would be able to come by after he finished the call he was on. He would call when he was on his way. And- he called shortly after that saying he had finished early and could come over now, if that worked for us. It did!! Came out, came inside (put those booties over his shoes to prevent dirt from previous job inside) to hear our problem, and start the process. He was thorough - checking thermostat, unit in attic, and going outside to check the unit there. And being sure to keep us informed as to what he was doing. Finally, came to us and mentioned that the condenser fan motor was frozen and needed to be replaced. Made sure he had the part , gave us the price and finished the work when we agreed to have this done. He stayed a few extra minutes after we paid him to make sure the air was cooling ---- it was!

Everything about this experience was excellent. The technician arrived promptly and was extremely friendly and courteous. He did a very thorough job cleaning my A/C unit. I have had maintenance done before, and I have never seen other techs put as much effort into cleaning my A/C as this gentleman did. He answered all my questions and was very honest about what I did and did not need. When he left, I felt like I had a brand new A/C, and all for a very reasonable price, thanks to the Angie's List coupon. He spoke to me very frankly about the good and the bad of my current system, and provided some great suggestions to help me save on energy costs and about the future of my A/C system. I will definitely be calling again for my winter/furnace preparations.

Sent an appointment request online in the morning. Received a phone call shortly after that. Appointment scheduled for 2:30p.m. Tech called to ask if he could meet earlier which was perfect. He inspected the system and found the problem within 15 minutes. Placed a protective drop cloth on the floor under the pull down ladder to the attic. A nice touch. He made a few recommendations to how the system could be made more efficient. The AC system is old. This was appreciated.

Couldn't have gone better! My call was returned quickly and the rep. was here right away. He was very polite and listened to what I had to say (some repair people assume a women does not have a clue.). He had the needed equipment (flashlight) and the replacement part. He showed me the defective part and told me briefly (I wasn't very interested.) what it did. He cautioned me once the part was replaced that this might not be the only problem and then checked to assure the system was working properly. It was. Every step was explained in the detail I needed. We discussed the efficiency of newer units and he brought up the necessity of looking at the whole system - duct integrity, insulation etc. and balancing those with the level of efficiency that makes sense. He mentioned that preventive visits could help me avoid down time in the future and give me warning before the system needs to be replaced, possibly at times of extreme temperatures when help might not be immediately available. This man made friends with my 3 huge puppies and was very tolerant of their curiosity toward him (nose in face). He pretended not to notice my neglected housekeeping. The price was entirely reasonable and he didn't try to sell me anything. Truly excellent service and on the Labor Day holiday weekend!
Description of Work: The rep. from Texas Air Zone returned my call in less than 5 minutes and was here in less than 45. He asked me the problem then examined the unit. Immediately found the part that had failed, showed it to me and explained it's function. He replaced it and tested the temperature on the air going in vs. the air being sent out. He looked at the outside unit and determined that it was working well. By this time it was clear my unit was up and cooling again. What a relief! We talked about getting a "tune up" latter, prior to the heating season, and the fact that the unit will need replacement at some point (it is about 15 years old).

I can not say enough good things about this company and the people that work for it! We had a freon leak in our evaporator coil. The unit was 20 years old and we knew it was on it's last legs. I called three different companies to come out to provide a quote for a complete new heating and cooling system. Initial Contact Upon calling, they were able to get me an a consultation appointment the next afternoon to come out. Chris (co-owner) showed up on time and spent more than an hour in our house walking through their services. He took took measurements of the rooms and commented on our current system. (none of the other companies took measurements, just looked at the register size) The next day, Chris sent over a 19 page detailed proposal of everything that needed to be done. Within the proposal were 5 options...2 systems were the higher end variable speed communicating systems from Carrier and Trane; and the other 3 were single speed systems. The prices were right in line with the other quotes, but provided so much more work they were going to and detailed information of what he was planning to do at the same price as the competitors. Chris gave me his cell number and proceeded to answer my questions the rest of the day as my wife and I thought of them. Setting the appointment The day after receiving the proposal, we decided to go with Texas Air Zone. We were told there would be an approximate 10 day wait because they were backlogged with other work. We were concerned because we had already paid to add 3 lbs of freon to keep it going and it was already down and freezing the system. Chris assured us he would keep the old system going at this cost to keep us cool in August if we decided to go with them. He stood behind his offer and was personally at our house several days taking freon pressure reading and replaced a few parts that were going out. Installation: The Monday after I signed the paperwork, Andrea called and asked if they could switch our install date to a week earlier for 2 days after this. We were very happy about this. The day of the install Pablo and his crew show up and were extremely professional. By lunch time our house started to cool down in each room as they fine tuned the system and new duct work. Pablo walked us through the new thermostat to get us registered. By the time they left, there was no dirt, dust, or any debris left behind. They even swept our driveway to make sure no screws were left behind. System We ended up going with the Carrier Infinity system. This is their 2 stage 17 Seer Communicating system with dehumidifier in a 5 ton unit. The dehumidifier is amazing. It makes the house feel cooler than it really is. The thermostat is great! Coming from a Nest I was worried. Carrier still has a lot of tweaking to do on their mobile phone app, but the thermostat itself surpasses the Nest. We are hoping to get a few more years out of our other 20 year old unit, but will be calling Texas Air Zone again when we need the next unit done. I highly recommend using this company. You will be very satisfied with the experience!

After using two other high rated Angie companies who could not figure out what the problem and just concentrated on the units outside, Greg L. came and spotted the problem right away and it was on the inside unit. And what a professional, genuinely nice guy! Because of the prompt service, (same day - within hours of my call), courteous and professional staff, I plan on using these folks moving forward for everything related to my heater/AC. And when my air conditioner finally gives out....and it will (it's almost 15 years old) I plan on getting a new one through these guys. I encourage others to do the same....and ask for Greg! Ahhh...it's heaven to finally have air conditioning in 100 degree weather. Thank you Greg!

Isaac came out to check the air conditioning system. He arrived within two hours of my calling. This is remarkable on a Saturday. I was so impressed with Isaac. He not only checked my air continuing system but continued to help eliminated other possible problem areas that may be causing the odor. Thankfully the air conditioning system was fine and after Isaac left I felt a lot more comfortable. I did go out and buy a CO and Gas detector. I will certainly call Isaac and Texas Air Zone for any future air conditioning needs. I will also pass on this companies name to friends and family.
Description of Work: I called on a Saturday Morning, early, as I was smelling an order I thought was coming from my air conditioning system. Worried that the odor could be a health hazard or a warning the system was about to stop working I requested someone come out.

Our HVAC technician (Isaac), finished a previous job much earlier than expected. He called to ask my husband and I if he could come to our house today around 2:10 in the afternoon, instead of our scheduled 5pm appointment. "Absolutely!" Isaac was very professional. He quickly found out what was causing our air conditioning problems and had it fixed in no time at all. When Isaac told us how much the visit would cost, my husband and I couldn't be more pleased. Working with Texas Air Zone was a very positive experience. It is nice to know that there are still a few honest people left in the world. Thanks Isaac.

The technician was on time and professional. Our 3 units are about 14 years old and still functional. I have no interest in replacing until it is necessary and have had others try to "sell"us on the importance of replacing all 3 now. He went over the issues with each unit and understood that we do not want to replace now. Additional suggestions about which unit to replace first, how and best time to replace. The pricing was fair and I never felt as if he was trying to sell us anything that is not currently needed.
Description of Work: We did the initial inspection purchased through Angie's list. Performed an initial inspection of 3 units and added refrigeration to one that was low. We made a follow up appointment to service the units.

The repair guy, Greg, seemed very knowledgeable about the AC unit. He also explained how thing work, how they should work. The AC blower motor price seemed high to me, but I was told my unit requires a variable speed motor. So they cost a lot more than others. $1100 for the motor replacement, and about $650 to replace the TXV valve. I would use them again.

Texas AirZone installed 2 HVAC units (complete system, including ducting, condenser outside, furnace and coil inside and new thermostats Ecobee 3 home kit, 4 days ago. Wow, what a difference. This review sounds too good to be true, so let me state from the beginning that I have no relationship with this company and that I had never used them until this installation experience, but boy am I glad I did. The experience with this company was nothing like I?ve had with other HVAC companies. First the estimate: Chris (co-owner) was my first interaction with the company for an estimate on the new systems. He showed up on time. He?s super professional, very personable, respectful, and all around nice-guy. He went above and beyond. He found things that no other company (and let me tell you, I?ve had about 20 over the past 10 years with all my issues with my old HVAC units) had mentioned or offered (we now have cool air in our 1935 home?s kitchen). He didn?t have to do this, but he actually went through 2 crawl spaces with his nice clean shirt (and our crawl space under our house has never been cleaned and is super dirty), to find out if it?s possible to do the kitchen A/C?s new vent. We've never had a kitchen vent and it's always hot in there in the summer and cold in winter. He figured out ways to more evenly distribute air to the different rooms to compensate for poor insulation and outside walls that made some rooms harder to get comfortable. I wanted my attic to be more accessible so he said that his installer will take of making the attic much nicer. (I thought well they?ll probably just do a couple of things but anything is better than nothing, and never imagined what they actually did on the install, more on that later). Then as promised a day later I received his 20 page plus estimate with 4 options on systems. Range in price was reasonable and the choices all made sense and allowed me to compare efficiency and price on these multiple different units. In the end I choose a middle of the road system, and on his recommendation I feel like I made the right choice. I?ll be here in this house for another 10 years so it?s an investment in comfort which hopefully with the increased efficiency pay for itself (at least some of it) over those many years or more. It was painless. Their price wasn?t the lowest (but close) but was very reasonable and for the amount of work that the installers did, it was probably the best value out there. Off to the installation: Pablo called me and set up a time to arrive which he was on time. He?s the head installer. It took 2 days since I had so much duct work and extra work that needed done. Pablo is very knowledgeable. He?s a nice guy, and takes significant pride in what he does. He enjoys his work and it shows. But the rest of it is hard to describe. I wanted a easier to move-around-attic. I wanted better air flow. I wanted some ducts moved around. I wanted it done right. But I had no expectation of what I saw when I came back home at 3 pm that first day. It was a huge surprise. My attic was now open. I had so much more access. I know I told him that I trusted him and I just wanted an open attic and whatever he thought would be fine. But I only had pointed to 2 or 3 ducts to be moved. He moved most of them. Wow, what a difference. I had not expected the amount of work he had already done. And this was day one. And low and behold, I had new steps in my attic and he had made a new platform and walkway. I almost couldn?t recognize my own attic. I was giddy. Seriously, I don?t remember any of this on the contract (and not a cent more was charged for all this extra work). And then the 2nd day, more of the same, walkway extended, hand rail installed for easier walking up to my attic, new vent placed with roof flashing. He (and his team) didn?t have to do all this extra work. But that?s how Pablo is. Pablo goes above and beyond what?s asked of him. No one at Texas AirZone asked me to write this review but I think to help my fellow Angie?s List members, I want everyone to know that in Dallas, TX, there?s no company that I trust more with my HVAC than Texas AirZone. I will update as I get my first service but I will expect nothing less than superb twice a year service from this company. I know I won?t have to worry about my system, easily for the next 10 years but because of the care that Pablo took with everything, and installing everything not only to code and to manufacturer?s specification and instructions but going above and beyond, I expect my new systems to be problem free for much more than 10 years. I know that Texas AirZone, Chris and Pablo and whomever I work with in the future will go above and beyond what I expect of them and they?ll do it, because they think it?s the right thing to do. I don?t know if they made a whole lot of profit doing all this work for me (it couldn?t be that much), but they have made a customer for life and I will make sure all of my friends and family members use them for any of their HVAC needs in the future. Speaking of that I had a friend visiting from out of town this weekend and he was so impressed by their work that he?s asking me if they do any installations in Houston. Not sure, but I will ask. I never met Gary, the owner, but if I ever do, I will shake his hand, and tell him what a gem of company he has created, what a great guy Chris (co-owner) is, and how amazing Pablo is. I will stop here but trust me, I could write so much more. I have before and after pictures of my attic and if there's ever a way to upload them, I will, since seeing is believing.

They came out on time and the tech was very professional. He told me what was wrong after the fact, which is important to me to know what was wrong. The tech accidentally charged me for a service visit that I had already paid for on Angie's list. I didn't even realize it. A few days later THEY called me and told me of the error and that they would be giving me a credit on my account, which they did. Who does that anymore? I will always use them now. Brett made an after hours service call tonight. He was so accommodating, eager to explain and answer all of my questions. He gave me several options and spent more than 2.5 hrs diagnosing and correcting the problem. He spoke on the phone to my husband who is out of town to re-explain everything to him and answer his questions. At no time did I feel he tried to upsale me anything or tell me our current system needed replacing. We do require additional services, which he will provide tomorrow and at that time we know further repairs will be needing. It might be that a new system is necessary, but at this time we got the current 13yrs old system full of Freon and cooling the house.
Description of Work: After hours call that began at 7pm and ended a little after 10pm. Came home from work to a hot house. He added 2.5lbs of Freon and assessed the outside unit and furnace. Diagnosed the problem and will do leak test sometime tomorrow.

Chris was on time for his appointment and called ahead 15 minutes as a courtesy. He spent plenty of time assessing the situation and educated me on what the problem was and what the potential solutions were. He provided a detailed quote the next day that had three options ranging from $3K to $6K depending on the suggested repairs. I ended up using a sub-contractor via a friend who is a GC because the price was significantly less. That said, Chris's quote was a fair price - had I purchased commercially he would have been my number 1 choice!

Added some freon and then observed that the unit was pulling out more heat than expected...the awesome tech went into the attic with his instant-read thermometer and determine that the unit was working fine....where was the extra heat coming from? A little more looking around and the tech found a large gap in the return air duct work; this gap has been there since the house was built! The unit was sucking hot attic air into the ducts. I have corrected the duct work problem.
